View Full Version : How much do you plan to spend during Black Friday? noehlp 8-20-2006, 2:47 PM How much do you plan to spend during Black Friday? Anything in particular that is a must or very expensive? abentley 8-20-2006, 2:56 PM I just can't tell ya until I know whats on sale!!! usually around $500 RossMAN 8-20-2006, 2:58 PM That depends on what's in the ads. My weakness is usually laptops, desktops and HDTV's. If they're cheap I might spend $1,000 - $2,000 Otherwise it might be under $500. jeninpa 8-20-2006, 3:10 PM Mostly buying toys, electronics & clothes for the kids. Illinoismom 8-20-2006, 3:10 PM who knows havent figured out the budget yet Steakgoddess 8-20-2006, 3:16 PM I don't have any idea yet. able 8-20-2006, 3:19 PM well i said 1000+ but i dont know ..i really prolly wont even go out. it will take to long to get in and out of vehicles and that will slow down the other person taking me . freesia39 8-20-2006, 3:25 PM i'm planning on zilch unless i see a good TV deal ms_mckenna 8-20-2006, 3:26 PM At the moment I am saying 300-500. But that is my day I do most of my Christmas shopping for the kids if at all possible. We are looking to get a digi camera unless I get one before, Shels laptop, and Alex a go kart. So it may end up being more depending on if I find any really good deals. I am hoping to find them some decent cheap stereos that day to. Just gonna have to see how it plays out though. shopping mom 8-20-2006, 3:29 PM I hope to have something to spend but it will not be as much as last year. I am hoping for 150 -200 but first I need a job!! Tracy72 8-20-2006, 3:33 PM have no idea....I never set a budget...just buy what I feel like getting..lol Aaron 8-20-2006, 3:48 PM I don't spend that much, I still join in on the sales and such. Rebirth 8-20-2006, 4:18 PM No more than $150. This year, probably $0. bayhaysay 8-20-2006, 4:19 PM I said $301-$500, although if I end up getting a laptop that amount will be higher. Marcster 8-20-2006, 4:41 PM Probably under $300. I'm usually a sucker for hard drive deals, flash drive deals, blank DVDs, that sort of stuff. We bought a new TV and digital camera last year, so we're pretty much set with that. Neither of our laptops need replacing either. mom2thegirls 8-20-2006, 4:50 PM I'll be looking for a deal on a portable dvd player. knb080998 8-20-2006, 4:56 PM I'm not sure yet until I see how much money I have then, but I'm guessing between $101-$200. Probably less though. Depends. shanni 8-20-2006, 5:01 PM Less than I did last year!! Less than I did last year! I'm hoping if I keep repeating that to myself, I will actually do it. kranky 8-20-2006, 5:13 PM Chances are it will be zero. The only thing that would tempt me is an unbelievable bargain, and if the item has a "only X per store" restriction I won't even bother to go. Shopping is a major PITA as it is, and it's hard to imagine anything that could get me to go out on BF, when the worst of humanity is on display (all GDers excepted, of course! :) ). ms_mckenna 8-20-2006, 5:18 PM Less than I did last year!! Less than I did last year! I'm hoping if I keep repeating that to myself, I will actually do it. LOL I like that :P Karmarose 8-20-2006, 5:20 PM 300 to 500, but I doubt even that much. I can't go out this year. bugsette 8-20-2006, 5:21 PM probably about 100-150 Keebelf 8-20-2006, 5:27 PM at the moment, the only thing I might look for is a new down comforter....that is all I have in mind for right now but it does depend on what is on the lists. I would have to buy from Sears if they have any of Chris' Black and Decker tools on sale just to add to the collection. psiu 8-20-2006, 5:46 PM As many have said...dunno. Budget depends on the ads to some degree. I need to find some shopping allies too, as the stores here in Detroit area are insanely busy--you're only getting in one in a timely manner. There's a good chance we'll get a lot of Christmas shopping done on the cheap this year. OH....and it depends how much I can do at midnight from the computer ;) Melissa 8-20-2006, 5:46 PM As little as possible. Won't know for sure until I see the ads. misshayley 8-20-2006, 5:57 PM It depends on the sales, and what I see that I want Gurnee Al 8-20-2006, 6:35 PM Over $1,000 if I get a large screen LCD TV. stingygrrl 8-20-2006, 7:06 PM before rebate or after :D like Marcster said, I'm a sucker too for HD deals and DVDs. I have everything else and actually need to clear out stuff, rather than shop VonnegutFan 8-20-2006, 7:12 PM Only planning on buying things for myself (call me greedy if you must :). I'm only planning on buying things I actually need. Monitor, desktop, dvd's... duckbrain 8-20-2006, 8:10 PM Why? Does anyone know what kind of sales are goin on?! Just kiddin...HOPEFULLY :crossfingjust $150-$200! tyler99199 8-21-2006, 9:01 AM I said 200-300 but as is with everyone else it will depend. JanetThomas1 8-21-2006, 9:15 AM Probably between $301 and $500 but it really does depend ont he sales!!! mrn8 8-21-2006, 11:52 AM It completely depends on what's available. I have a portion of my savings set apart for Christmas and December b-days, so I'm hoping there will be things available on BF that I'm looking for. gingersunshine 8-21-2006, 2:22 PM $500-$1000. i try to buy just about everything in one shot. but really, i guess it depends on the sales. credit cards will be paid just about off. shopping here i come! laffnatu 8-21-2006, 2:36 PM Not sure yet. We don't really need any big items like tv, computer or camera. I do plan on getting dd a stereo and mp3 player. We may get a tv for the MIL though, if we don't get her one sooner. I have no idea what I am getting my son. So far the only thing he wants is Yu Gi Oh cards. lol. Kandy 8-21-2006, 2:43 PM depends on the sales, and what the kiddos are asking for. DD/DS MP3 Players - video games / aiming 200-300 if not less. momof2many 8-21-2006, 2:52 PM hm. I said 200-300... not really sure though. I know I want a new digital camera. Would like to get a dvd player for the car. But I saw one at Target I like, the dvd player is built into the screen. Kinda a cool idea. Is that the norm now?? becca0884 8-21-2006, 2:57 PM I just really want a mp3 player, maybe a laptop depending on the deals this year. lennon2004 8-21-2006, 3:19 PM The only thing I want is a good laptop, good deal. Although my SO has talked about getting me one. So, we shall see.. :) Scott 8-21-2006, 3:37 PM I'm a lot like others here... could be 10s, could be 100s, could be 1000s... just depends on what is on sale. :) RossMAN 8-21-2006, 9:56 PM before rebate or after :D like Marcster said, I'm a sucker too for HD deals and DVDs. I have everything else and actually need to clear out stuff, rather than shop Good point. It's not uncommon to have nearly a dozen MIR's to send in. alimfp 8-21-2006, 9:57 PM Out of pocket (before rebate(s)), I'm thinking around $400-$600. Now if there is a laptop deal at BB, it'll be a bit more. ;) jenilyn 8-21-2006, 10:30 PM Everything I have...... What the hell, the kids dont have to eat EVERYDAY do they? (Damn, I was just kidding !) LMAO love2beurwifey 8-21-2006, 11:18 PM Well it all depends if they have alot of stuff for the new baby I will be spending quite alot but if I can't find anything for her then I won't spend that much and then again maybe I will just because I love shopping SuperMommy 9-8-2006, 3:18 PM Well, in the past couple years it's been $400-$500. But we'll just have to see. It all depends on the ads! gisellerol 9-8-2006, 4:02 PM well usually around $600 - $700 but I'm looking for a nice lcd plasma tv so if i find a good sale I'll be spending alot more hillbillyswife 9-8-2006, 4:08 PM I just can't tell ya until I know whats on sale!!! usually around $500 Me too :) motoXmom 9-8-2006, 4:22 PM Probably over $1,000. I do alot of my shopping that day too. I can't wait for the ads, it makes me feel like a kid agaon waiting for the Sears & JCPenny Christmas Catalogs in the mail. lol By Christmas we (brother & I) had them worn out. Marcster 9-8-2006, 4:25 PM well usually around $600 - $700 but I'm looking for a nice lcd plasma tv so if i find a good sale I'll be spending alot more I bought my 26" Olevia widescreen LCD TV last BF. The rebates took 5 months! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sad%20Upset/N1arghhhhHL1.gif ajburlingame 9-8-2006, 4:46 PM I usually spend somewhere between $300-$500 but totally depends on the ads. gisellerol 9-8-2006, 6:41 PM I bought my 26" Olevia widescreen LCD TV last BF. The rebates took 5 months! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sad%20Upset/N1arghhhhHL1.gif thats okay as long as they send it I'm looking for at least a 42" cherry33778 9-8-2006, 7:25 PM I usually spend around $500, but this year I'm going with my sister and since she is a BF virgin I may have to spend more to get her in the spirit. vonnyb 9-8-2006, 8:06 PM probably $300- $500. I am really hoping to get some deals this year. Looking for toys and a nice stereo sytereo system. jbearcbear 9-8-2006, 10:00 PM at the moment, the only thing I might look for is a new down comforter....that is all I have in mind for right now but it does depend on what is on the lists. I would have to buy from Sears if they have any of Chris' Black and Decker tools on sale just to add to the collection. I need a new comforter too. I have had a down comforter for about 3 years now, and down pillows too. But I have developed an allergy to the down which has gotten worse and worse. I can't take it anymore (very severe), so I will be looking for a cheap down comforter alternative. (same luxury, no allergy). Saw one last year and passed it up. Kicking myself very hard now for that as it was only $29.99!! :chairshot Would absolutely LOVE to find a similar deal this year! :holiday04 f1rstclass 9-8-2006, 11:09 PM Last year between 100-200 bucks...this year depending on what they have to offer could change either way! We will just have to wait and see what the game plan is going to be. ryejay98 9-9-2006, 12:09 AM Chances are it will be zero. :) ). And here I thought I was the only one. Cru 9-9-2006, 1:02 AM If CC has their 18 months with 0% interest then look out! I'm looking for a laptop, new lcd monitor, and possibly some other goodies if the price is right! happysunshine28 9-9-2006, 1:03 AM Since teh exspensive items my kids want arent on BF sales I wont spend much on BF. I will just be looking for deals of any kind. dealluvr 9-9-2006, 1:08 AM i said no more than $200 but probably less than that mesarobins 9-9-2006, 1:26 AM I said $200-$300 but like everyone else a lot depends on whats on sale. What my kids really want (a dog, and we're talking mutt here not purebred) isn't on sale on BF, but I may be watching the Petsmart ads... Otherwise my 12 yo can't get enough of anything electronic, younger sister 9 however is still into dolls and toys. Bunniq 9-9-2006, 11:06 AM Not to sure maybe 300-500, but hoping to find a few sales between now and Christmas to lower the amount. krstee 9-9-2006, 9:42 PM Hopefully more than last year - we were pretty broke. Just talked to hubby, and it sounds promising. Don't have a clue on how much, but at least it's better than "Nothing"... Rebirth 9-9-2006, 11:34 PM Probably nothing. I am saving up for Vegas, and possible White Sox playoff tickets. mghtymth27 9-10-2006, 1:07 AM Not a penny this year. Just got a house in TN and are moving the beginning of November, not going to have any money. Well, probably not going to have any money ............. but ofcourse that's subject to change. ;) Gporter34 9-10-2006, 2:38 PM Not sure yet, but hopefully we will have more to spend this year since I am working now.LOL And the kids seem to want more expensive stuff the older they get. Alot of it will depend on the sales, too. Daisimae 9-10-2006, 9:40 PM BF is the only day we buy electronics, (unless something important dies earlier). So I will probably be spending over $500, but, definitely not $1000. We don't need that much. biomajor 9-10-2006, 9:53 PM My kids have everything so after the PS3 (if I wait in line for a couple of days) probably not much but some CD's and DVD's and maybe a portable DVD player for my DD so she quits taking mine. fun_4_u_nme 9-10-2006, 10:56 PM very cool !! stiltman 9-14-2006, 6:32 AM i got 3-5K budget but i am going to Las vegas in october. but I might have more (or less) after the trip. But the big thing is if they have any realy good deals this year. It's going to be a good year!!! ooohh! and as many best buy bucks i can get my hands on!!! jellybean051901 9-15-2006, 4:41 AM IF I am able to get a laptop then it will be more. It also depends on what is on sale and what I have gotten ahead of time elena_398 9-15-2006, 12:14 PM Not sure how much as with my medical bills and upcoming back surgery, it will be hard for me to have the kind of christmases everyone is used to. I hate to do it, but this year it may be charged. UGH jadedmomof2 9-15-2006, 12:17 PM I'm going to say 500-1000, because I plan on getting a laptop and HDTV if the sales are good. If not, then I will be spending less. I already have a lot of my kids gifts planned out. mommie75 9-20-2006, 8:52 AM we always spend most of are x mas money on bf.. when kids were small i was done buy then so we bought for are selfs and next year.. so did not spend much but as kids have gotten older we do all of are shopping on bf.. try to save as much as we can with 4 boys .. but we usally only end up at walmart and that is all i can get hubby to do.. and k mart on thanksgiven but last year buy the time i got him ging what i wanted was gone.!!! NeepNeep 9-20-2006, 2:51 PM Depends on the prices of LCD TV's. Would like to keep it between $500-$1000 for the TV, but with my other purchases will probably probably end up being over $1000 in total. nancy_7997 9-22-2006, 1:06 PM depends I too am a sucker for electronics hopefully under $300 mtallen 9-22-2006, 2:48 PM I will probably spend 500-1000 on BF alone... diecastbeatdown 9-22-2006, 4:38 PM prolly 200-300. i opened a seperate bank account specifically for BF just a few weeks ago. doing direct-depost a portion of my paycheck each pay period to save up. plus any rebates and other stuff will just be deposited right in that account and i'll keep it as sort of a revolving slush fund/savings. copados1993 10-4-2006, 1:07 PM I tend to spend around 350 on BF, but would spend more if the deals were right.:yup: julz0420 10-4-2006, 2:13 PM Like a lot of pp said, it will depend on the ads. I figured around 400.00 but it can be more or less, depending on the sales that are out there. LOL Julie Cecilliadb 10-4-2006, 2:56 PM It depends on the sales, I dont have many expensive items just alot of little gifts and then things I want. So I will be planning on about $500 but not limiting myself to that number :p Kaarak 10-4-2006, 3:09 PM Probably about $300.00. I am looking to get a lot of my shopping done on that day! Turtle Mommy 10-4-2006, 3:15 PM Depends on the ads. I plan to have my neices and nephews done by November 1st so I should only be buying for my boys and dh(and things for me! :) ) cleverbffool 10-8-2006, 2:36 PM I forget what I voted but it will be about 2000-5000 if I find a plasma that I like. Uberfemme 10-8-2006, 3:21 PM I try to spend no more than $500, but my MIL always wants to go to the mall on BF. I end up spending way more buying "presents" for myself. H_Hancock 10-8-2006, 3:42 PM Maybe $1000, maybe less, maybe more....we've that much put aside already, but it completely depends upon what's in the ads this year. We're (well, I am, I guess) suckers for electronics, too, so we're looking for a mid-sized LCD TV for the bedroom, an LCD monitor of 20" or larger, I need a new video card of at least the ATI X1900XT range of performance, a new laptop would be nice, we've been looking for a new refrigerator (don't know if BF sales will be appropriate for them), and the rest of the items on our list get smaller. peachysquirt21 10-8-2006, 3:56 PM Up to 100.00 that is if I dont have much money. I really dont wanna put alot on the credit card cause I have enough debt to deal with now. Depends on the ads too. I am really really hoping I dont want any specials at Walmart so I can get on to other stores. LOL Kellymi 10-8-2006, 5:20 PM We usually spend between 300.00-500.00. Like everyone else said depends on the ads. tmkuroda 10-9-2006, 9:49 AM Well last year I bought the laptop at CC, a crappy digital camera and 4 mp3 players. At Walmart I bought the laptop, small LCD tv and a ton of dvds. This year I am planning on another laptop, a larger plasma or LCD HD TV and possibly a desktop or two ( desktops for grandkids). I almost have an internet cafe here with our 4 laptops already LOL! SO I a saying over $1000. Tina sanam 10-9-2006, 10:21 AM i dont have anything much to shoip for this BF ... so maybe 100 for and 100-200 for hubby... kalle1212 10-11-2006, 1:35 PM That also depends on my job status. Any one want to hire this newly graduated ultrasound technician? kfinto65 10-11-2006, 6:13 PM Is that before rebate or after rebate? I can't really say until I see the deals! pogiporkchop 10-12-2006, 4:21 PM Most likely I'll be spending well over $1000 since we're looking to get furniture for our house and possibly a big screen TV. I'm stashing away money as I win on my regular lottery ticket purchases and may get GCs beforehand so I don't run the risk of draining my checking! firtbird 10-16-2006, 4:35 PM TOO MUCH. rsan33 10-17-2006, 12:51 AM I am thinking of spending in the range of 301 - 500 for now. I want to replace my old desktop but I doubt I'll find a good deal on a high end pc. I am thinking like AMD FX 60+ or maybe AMD Athlon X2 5200 with atleast 2GB ram, 500GB HDD and a high end graphics card. I have decided not to go for Pentium this time. CrayZMama80 10-17-2006, 11:11 AM I spend way to much on this day. Every year I say I'm sticking to my limit. :rotflol: It never works! elena_398 10-17-2006, 11:17 AM I've already bought my kids 75% of their christmas gifts with all the online deals and clearances. I think I've spent around $400 each kid (maybe a tad more lol) Bestbuy7 10-18-2006, 3:46 PM I dont have a limit. dissident 10-20-2006, 2:58 PM looking to get a 32-37 inch LCD HDTV.. price will depend on what's for sale and how much it costs. :) elena_398 10-20-2006, 3:04 PM Well I blew any budget I would have made. LOL. My husband and I went shopping to day and picked up yet another $60 worth of presents for my son. I would hate to say a price right now (seems the older they get the more you shell out) arrowpolisher 10-20-2006, 3:27 PM I usually spend between 100-150, but it really depends on what they have on sale. I usually don't bother if they are hardly discounted. I only buy what I really need for the dc or hubby and me. SoCalCyclist 10-20-2006, 3:38 PM $73,678,459,572.51  bugsette 10-20-2006, 8:24 PM ok amyers12345 10-20-2006, 10:26 PM It really depends on what's on sale.. we just got new computers, and last year bought digi camera, new dvd/vcr's, trampoline, and lcd tv.. not sure what's left... Usually well over $500... Libra Angel 10-22-2006, 2:13 PM I chose option, $301- $500. So far its looking around $400, I hope for more but time shall tell. sleepyshopper 10-22-2006, 5:26 PM It is hard to say exactly until I see the ads, but I am usually in the $500.00-$1000.00 range. mccabefamily29 10-22-2006, 6:58 PM Between 100-200. More or less depending on if they have some 'must haves' that are on my list though. ShopQueen 10-22-2006, 7:50 PM I'm just getting ready to graduate in December so the cash flow is limited.....I'm looking forward to future BFs when the future hubby tags along and gets an appreciation for this mayhem! dgleason 10-27-2006, 3:38 PM Good point. It's not uncommon to have nearly a dozen MIR's to send in. I would have been happy to only send in a dozen MIR's last year. I ended up going a bit overboard and spent almost $3500.00 and had over $1200.00 in rebates. I'm still trying to match up all the check received with the rebate sent to see if they all came back. This year I'm hoping to keep it between $500-$1000. The only big ticket item this year will be a TV. |
