View Full Version : What are the "HOT" toys for Christmas???
With a just little more than 4 months til Christmas, what are the "hot" toys for this year? Has anyone heard anything or what do you think will be big for this year? I haven't even started any shopping yet and I'm NOT looking forward to it.
I'm guessing the Nintendo Wii will be the hot gaming platform, but as far as kid's toys, I have no idea.
sherril 8-7-2006, 11:22 AM I did alot of shopping already from Target. My daughter will be 3 two days before Christmas so I am sure whatever it is she will get it, she is spolied rotten and the only grandchild on my side of the family. She is really into Barbies and Polly Pockets right now and I have already started buying Playdo stuff. I cant wait for Christmas, its so fun when you have little ones
jadedmomof2 8-7-2006, 11:22 AM I was thinking the Wii also. Reminds me, I need to go pre-order one.
As for other toys, I never pay attention.
Wii, PS3, Microsoft Zune...
Of course, none of those are actually available yet, so we will have to see...
:)
biomajor 8-7-2006, 11:24 AM ps3!!!!
stingygrrl 8-7-2006, 11:27 AM oh.. you mean THOSE kinda toys.. gotcha! ;)
I dunno.
I hope I can get the Wii for my son. We stood in line forever to get the x-box 360 and ended up with 2 of them. He then decided that he didn't want one because of the glitches they had. Now, I guess we'll try for the Wii.
jadedmomof2 8-7-2006, 11:32 AM I have an "in" at Gamestop, so I'm basically guaranteed a Wii. I refuse to pay $500-600 for a PS3. Not gonna happen.

I feel the same way about the PS3. If I'm going to spend that much, I might as well get a computer.
davidbugs 8-7-2006, 11:45 AM ps3 will be a luxury video game Good luck for 500-600 dollars.
bugsette 8-7-2006, 7:18 PM probably PS3
elena_398 8-7-2006, 7:39 PM First time in a long time I havent' started shopping as yet. Neither of my kids have asked for anything. Its pretty sad my soon to be 12 yr old has everything. He already owns: PS1, PS2, Nintendo 64, X-box, GameBoy Advance, Gameboy SP, computer w/ printer, stereo system w/ remote, electric guitar, portable cd player, keyboard, drum set, football stuff, etc. Im out of ideas! The only thing is an I-Pod. Im in trouble coming up with ideas this year

How about a ride to the food shelf where he can volunteer - or the local rehab, to help brighten the holidays for those who can't go visit their family? (oh, and cash is good)
Hi guys! I really want to know the same thing because I'm out of ideas for this year. I think I'm going to get the Fisher Price digital camera even though its kind of expensive. I'm going to use my mypoints for part of that. Also v-tech has an educational laptop that I kind of liked too. But what else can you get for a very precocious 4 year old?
Wii, PS3, Microsoft Zune...
Of course, none of those are actually available yet, so we will have to see...

What is the Wii and the Microsoft Zune?

I hear this is the one to have. I know DS wants one for Christmas
outnumbered 8-7-2006, 10:49 PM They're going to like whatever I get them... :wife:
bovichtj 8-7-2006, 11:23 PM I heard that the FP TMX "Tickle Me Elmo" is gonna be huge... Target was pre-selling cards to purchase this when it comes out in Sept...
I also remember reading something about the rollout... people who have seen it are commited to secrecy, but that the technology is a HUGE step ahead... interesting how they are keeping it under wraps...

;) I have to agree on that one... Expensive toys are occasional here, not an every year thing. Thank goodness, my kids really do appreciate what they get. I'm lucky....

I hear ya! LOL I have 4 kids 11, 10, 7 & 2 1/2 and they think every little kid in the world has what they have or more. We are by far rich (there gram & pap have some money) but these kids have it all. I want them to have stuff because I didn't when I was young. The problem is I didn't know what I didn't have until I grew up and they don't know what they have now, lol. I think all I had was play dough, a tea set & a few stuffed animals, lol. A bday gift was one gift that cost around $15. My kids get $200 in gifts just from me.
How about a ride to the food shelf where he can volunteer - or the local rehab, to help brighten the holidays for those who can't go visit their family? (oh, and cash is good)
That is a good idea! My mom works at a nursing home and the people there love to see little kids. My mom knows which ones are okay for the kids to be with (some are a little off) and which could benefit from maybe reading stories with the kids. I'm going to talk to her about that and maybe take the kids a few days a month!
As for the hot toys....I get so mad every year because I like to get my shopping done early and it seems like they announce all these new "hot toys" in November and I just have to go buy more!
This will be a tight Christmas as we are going on a 7 day Disney Cruise in October so the kids will probably get the Wii for the older 3 plus whatever new toys come out. They still don't have the Nintendo DS so they'll probably each get one of those too.
I was just a grinch a few days ago and told the girls they was not getting anything for Christmas this yr....they dont appreciate the things they already have so why get more junk to add to the clutter in their room.....like it is soooo hard to put a dvd or cd back into the case.....geeze........but as for toys...lol....my girls don't really ask for them expensive things because they wont get them...the most expensive thing I bought was my dds gameboy advance when it first came out....over $100 a toy is rediculous..but they still play with it and has lasted really good.
Steakgoddess 8-8-2006, 8:36 AM Darned if I know.

I'm so sick of Elmo! When are they going to just let it go.....
My kids are asking for Wii, cell phones and Ipods (10 and 12)
fairydustcrissy 8-8-2006, 10:48 AM I dunno. But I'm with Debbie....my kids will like what they get. (WB btW!) My oldest (just turned 7) is asking for an mp3 player, so I may get her a cheap one. She knows she isnt getting an ipod :) For my almost 2yo, I have no idea. My mom got him a power wheels Indian Motorcycle ($6 at a thrift store, looks brand new!) And my 5yo is really into Mermaidia stuff as well as Polly Pocket. I have some stuff put aside already for them. But our big gift this year will be the Wii. Its preoreded already. I just hope it does come out by Christmas!
My kids are asking for Wii, cell phones and Ipods (10 and 12)
That must be painful...
I'm asking for the same things...
:D
tootsieroll23 8-8-2006, 10:50 AM DS wants Wii and DD wants a coach purse. That's all they have asked for and a good thing. Both those items are a little pricey for me.
stingygrrl 8-8-2006, 11:01 AM My kids are asking for Wii, cell phones and Ipods (10 and 12)
my parents would never have bought me things like that. I'm glad I grew up in teh old days when none of that stuff existed. I would have been the only one on the block with nothing.
I even got some knock off Barbie doll. blech.
biomajor 8-8-2006, 11:07 AM My son and dh want the ps3--so as a combined gift it's good--and my daughter is going to Europe next summer, so she's asking for clothes--all good there too!!

She's 31 but she grew up in the Mountains.;)
I'm so sick of Elmo! When are they going to just let it go.....
When little kids stop liking him is when they'll let it go :tongue1: My son is 19 months old and loves elmo.
jadedmomof2 8-8-2006, 11:45 AM For us, the Wii is the family gift this year. Each of us will get one game, plus, I am going to take advantage of the downloads, and put a bunch of old school games on it. I can't wait to play Kirby again!
Oldest is trying to talk me into a DS for him too...not sure if that's going to happen though.
This year's going to be tough, because DH will be gone, and the last time this happened, I felt like I had to make up for it.
jenilyn 8-8-2006, 11:53 AM I'm so sick of Elmo! When are they going to just let it go.....
HEY ELMO...............
TICKLE THIS :censored:
ROFLMAO.... Dont we have a flippin the bird smiley, or a grabbin the crotch smiley? Or am I the only one who would question this?
Wheres management when I need a lewd smiley;)

gisellerol 9-8-2006, 6:46 PM My kids are asking for Wii, cell phones and Ipods (10 and 12)
thats what my hubby is asking for ( my biggest kid)
f1rstclass 9-8-2006, 11:01 PM I heard that the Elmo thing is gonna be HUGE this year as well as the Fisher Price Digital Camera....my WalMart has probably about 20 of them (cameras) in stock blue and pink along with the cases for them. They are really impressive looking. I got one for my nephew for Christmas this year....he will turn 5 this year. I think he will LOVE IT!!
Looks like alot of us will be camping out for the wii :( I haven't heard a darn thing on the exact release date. Alot of rumors and speculation on date, cost, equipment, etc... but with only 3 months till Xmas you think they'd be putting more info out there. :gdparanoid:
happysunshine28 9-9-2006, 1:08 AM They're going to like whatever I get them... :wife:
Thats how my kids were when they were younger, it really didnt matter as long as it was a toy. Now clothes are the in thing with them. Boy I miss those toy christmas'. Their idea of clothes cost a fortune. Plus electronics, oh my.
Well my 6yo girl has plans to ask Santa for the prince from Barbie 12 dancing princesses...because he comes with 12 pairs of Barbie shoes LOL! And the twins from the set that can dance around each other.
My 3yo boy, anything Cars (Disney Movie) related. Around here Cars toys have been flying off the shelves since the movie came out, so maybe?
Wii, PS3, Microsoft Zune...
Of course, none of those are actually available yet, so we will have to see...
:)
What is Microsoft Zune?
Cool I had not heard about the new ELMO or the Fisher Price Digital camera. I am going to do some research.
What is Microsoft Zune?

The Microsoft Zune is the "iPod Killer" that microsoft is making. It's much like the iPod in many ways.
It is going to be released in Fall 2006 at select retailers for $299, more information is available at Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Zune

I had to look it up myself ..
What is a Wii??
It used to be called the Nintendo Revolution. Wish they kept that name. It sounds much better IMO. It's the new generation gaming console for the cost of only one lung instead of the two lungs and a kidney PS3 is supposed to cost.

2.4 VOIP support Now, that's just cool!
EliteABombAZ 9-10-2006, 11:53 AM FYI....
PS3 is going to be nearly impossible to find this year. Sony just announced that due to manufacturing troubles regaurding the Blue-Ray laser, initial PS3 shipments have been slashed by 75%...
In November during launch....
100,000 systems for Japan
400,000 for North America (USA and Canada)
Europe has be delayed till March.
400,000 systems is not a lot. Each retailer will be lucky to get 4 systems at launch. I did read that Sony would be shipping the most to Walmart.
Anyway... I expect these babies to resell on Ebay for $3000-$5000! :eyepoppin
Gporter34 9-10-2006, 1:04 PM Most of our kids have outgrown the "toy stage", which only means they have moved on to the "big toy stage". I miss the days when I could just buy them some toys and they would be thrilled. Now they ask for specific items, which they may or may not get, depending on what they ask for. However, most of the time, I try to get most of what they ask for.LOL
Booterbunz 9-10-2006, 3:42 PM My daughter won't be 3 til march, so I'm sure that whatever I get her, she'll be happy with! LOL Thank God! Those big toys are scary to think about buying right now!!! Off to google the FP camera and Elmo.... :p
my parents would never have bought me things like that. I'm glad I grew up in teh old days when none of that stuff existed. I would have been the only one on the block with nothing.

This is the way it was in my day. Honestly, the day I dreamed of getting a 300.00 "toy" for Christmas, was the day I could pick a pig off a tree. We wouldn't have dreamed of asking for such lavish gifts. Times sure have changed.
Cheri0113 9-10-2006, 7:34 PM My 8yr old DS wants Ben 10 toys and my 6 yr old DD wants Barbie 12 Dancing Princess Dolls....along with some PS2 games.
fun_4_u_nme 9-10-2006, 11:00 PM Going for PS3 for sure
kdaven 9-10-2006, 11:59 PM WOW! We must be poor...my kids (9,7,5) want/need new bikes. We have PS2 and other techno things, but I try to get them outside and physical. My oldest asked for a cellphone, but I just told her, "I'm a stay at home mom..why do you need a phone? You're always with me". Good luck thinking of new items.
knb080998 9-11-2006, 8:47 AM My 8 year old has asked for an Ipod that plays video and a cell phone. I tried to explain to her that Mommy and Daddy couldn't afford to pay Santa for an Ipod this year, but if she was good and did well in school that we would consider it sometime in the future. My 18 month old is luckily small enough to like just about anything you give her even though she usually decides that she likes what ever her sister has better and then goes after it! LOL
tyler99199 9-11-2006, 4:20 PM Here is another good link for the Wii : http://wii.nintendo.com/home.html
Gives you some good lucks at the control and some of the games that will be available.
These systems are getting to complex I cant keep up. Does that mean I am to old. Give the the old nintendo or even the N64 and I am happy with that.
thechef71 9-11-2006, 7:11 PM wow would love to score some ps3's 2 sale on ebay sold several xbox 360's on ebay last year for average of $800
momof2many 9-12-2006, 10:35 AM I would have no idea. But BF is fanatastic for toys...
jellybean051901 9-14-2006, 4:22 AM Toys R Us is doing a presale for tickle me elmo and there is a 2 per customer limit. They must expect it to be a hot item.
jellybean051901 9-14-2006, 5:04 AM Besides tickle me elmo, what other toys will be hot toys for the younger age groups. My 2 yo isn't much into PS3 or ipods
jadedmomof2 9-14-2006, 9:36 AM Hmm, I've never been one to pay attention to hot toys. I try to buy stuff my kids like rather than what the toy companies want me to buy.
Duplos/Legos/Megablocks are always good bets for boys or girls.
For my 4 yo, he's getting a few Leapster games, a Gameboy game(yeah..he's a computer/video game junkie already, you should see this kid on the computer), a few board games, and maybe some more SW galactic heroes. He has too many toys as it is, so I'm going for smaller items to supplement stuff he already has.

tullysdad 9-14-2006, 7:13 PM Nintendo's quirky game console, the Wii, will go on sale in the U.S. on Nov. 19 for $249.99, a price far lower than competing consoles from Sony and Microsoft Corp., the company said Thursday.
Tessangel 9-14-2006, 9:31 PM My kids haven't ask for anything because they know we are going to Disney/Universal in February. About 6 weeks after Christmas!
jellybean051901 9-15-2006, 4:51 AM I heard the fisher price digital cameras are big item. They are supposedly already selling out at places
jellybean051901 9-15-2006, 4:53 AM I like finding out what the hot toys for the year are just for the thrill of trying to get that item
jarerice 9-15-2006, 5:48 PM well my 8 year old wants a pool table and who knows what else....
huseboy 9-15-2006, 9:07 PM Me too I love the thrill of the hunt. I think maybe I should get a ps3 to sell for extra cash. what is the verdict on reselling one, good or bad idea? I dont want to waste time and money if they will be every where for people to get. But with the holidays coming I am always looking for ways to make extra money for my shopping addiction.

boudmel 9-16-2006, 11:48 AM My DS keeps talking about Guitar Hero for PS2 - I did a search on this and it looks like Guitar Hero 2 will be released in Nov. All the reviews on the first one are great - I think we may get this for DS for Xmas:)
blakes_mommy 9-16-2006, 6:46 PM I want the kids digital camera and some sort of cd player that is kid friendly too!! PSP games are always welcomed cheap!:D

Thanks for the heads up. I'm a hour plus away from a TRU, but called my daughter Friday and she ran over and did the presale for me. My Granddaughter will be 18 mths at Christmas so I think she will like it!
Hoping someone will come out with a really good buy on a bike for my 7 year old grandson as his legs are getting a little long for his old one.

I saw a CD player with headphones at Walmart in the toy section that is for kids. It was in next to the fisher price digital camera. I don't know if the brand was fisher price or not. I didn't really pay that close attention
love2beurwifey 9-18-2006, 11:44 PM Im thinking the PS3 and I am not to sure about any other toys . Elmo is usually a really big hit.
Rebirth 9-19-2006, 1:03 AM http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/3210/dsc02687go4.jpg
Arrrrggghhh!!! I went to 2 Wal-Mart's and 2 Meijer's just after midnight and I was told they won't sell them til morning! I was so bummed. The employee at the first walmart said they would go on sale at midnight (I was there at 10 minutes til midnight). Then when she went to get them she came back empty handed and said "we're having a problem finding them in the back but we aren't going to put them out until 8:00 in the morning!".
Okay, so what does it do?!
Michelle
Rebirth 9-19-2006, 2:34 AM It's not my pic.
This is what heard.
This version of the "Tickle Me" series from the folks at Sesame Street is the most animated toy I have seen. The first tickle puts Elmo in the floor rolling around and laughing...the second tickle and Elmo laughs harder and longer...the third tickle and Elmo literally rolls around the floor before finally landing on his belly pounding on the floor with this hand, begging you to stop. After each tickle, Elmo resumes his upright standing position.
jellybean051901 9-19-2006, 4:02 AM Saw a cute toy at WM that my 2 yo love. It is called TJ Bearytales. I think it is similar to tuddy rumpskin(something like that, not sure of name) that used to be out. You can by story books and cartridges to go with it. Costs about 49.99 with stories 9.99-14.99
dmintelsgt 9-19-2006, 9:31 AM I have no idea what the "BIG" ticket toy items will be this year... I got a few of last year's "Big" items and my 6 year-old didn't really seem to care or play with them that much. I'm thinking maybe Build A Bear stuff, arts and craft stuff, and letting her create a list at the local Kid's Center store... they have really neat items in all price ranges... :)

Fisher Price has come out with a really neat digital camera and a "FP3" player. They are about 60 each at Walmart. I do not know the age range you are looking for so this might be to young.
becca0884 9-19-2006, 4:21 PM Has anyone tried to get the new Elmo?? A lot of stores seem to still have them in stock.
Mommyof2 9-19-2006, 4:57 PM I wasn't thinking about buying the new Elmo at all. Then I saw it on "The View" this morning and fell in love with it!! My 18 mo DS will love it!! I was going to purchase it online, but called my local TRU 1st. They still had a few in the store. I only live about 4-5 minutes from there so I ran over to buy it! There weren't too many left! Glad I snatched one up! While looking online earlier in the day I saw that Walmart was already sold out of them!
JazzMama 9-20-2006, 2:18 PM Has anyone tried to get the new Elmo?? A lot of stores seem to still have them in stock.
I haven't, but one of my co-workers called a few stores and alot are already sold out! So, when she checked on Ebay, there were quite a few with starting bids of up to $200 :eyepoppin

zoemariesmamma 9-22-2006, 4:37 PM My four year old just had a birthday and has used the gift bags to put things in and out of more than any of the toys..I think I should rethink my list!
Ya know, the more I look for toys, the more I realize I have no idea what I'm going to buy this year.
Teebee Im right with ya on that. I went out looking around yesterday and I couldn't find hardly anything that my 7 yr old would be interested in toy wise, I did see some movies he would like and 2 video games. I hope to find some other things on BF that he may like.
Firemansgal311 9-26-2006, 9:27 AM For the BIG gifts this is what I am going on for my crew. My dd and ds1 will most likely be getting the wii (hoping I can get one), Ds2 is getting the Pixter and games I got clearanced from TRU months ago, Ds3 is getting the Elmo TMX. (Thank goodness I had the insight that morning to call my dh at work so he could get one)
As far as smaller gifts I really don't know yet but most likely they will be bought on BF.

Do you happen to know did they stop selling the pixters? I went to look for the newer version of the pixter I seen on walmarts website but I don't see if being sold in any stores I go into.

I saw them listed on Amazon.com a couple days ago but they were around 45.00. Half of what they were originally but not near as cheap as TRU had them when they were still with Amazon. ;)
They have gone up it says between $54 and $84. hth.;)http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b/104-8439631-4763955?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pixter&Go.x=16&Go.y=11

(that one is a maybe, since I keep having visions of her leaving it all over the place.) They are rather on the expensive side as well. I am thinking of just getting her a inexpensive prepaid that way "when" she loses it I don't have to worry about calling the company.

I have bought games for my son at Lik-sang and never had a problem(kow). You might be buying a Japanese one although they do sell American products too. I am not really sure which version they are selling.

They have been taking pre-orders the entire time... I wouldn't count on getting one on launch day if you were to pre-order from them now... It's basically a waiting list at this point.

Thanks, they still have it listed on wm's website for about the same price but you get it with a spongebob game. I really only liked it for my son because he always talks about wanting to be an animator of cartoons and I read that it lets you animate your own stuff on it. I wonder if theres something else like that he can use.

There is a link in the offline deals forum for a coupon 5 dollars off a purchase of 25 or more. So if twoitems cost the 25 you get one free and only spend 20 I would paste the link for you here but I am still computer challenged.

We take it with us al ot

I'm thinking about it, I might just add the phone to my plan that I already have. I don't think your mean in any way, It really all depends on the child. My son is really into more older childrens things he really isn't into the normal things 7 yr olds would play with.
khall1971 9-26-2006, 2:24 PM Does anyone know any specific info about the Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lovers dolls that will be debuting in Target stores in October? For example, ballpark or specific dates, price point, will all 8 dolls be available at each store, is Target the only outlet for these, etc.? I have a feeling these are going to be a big hit this Xmas--everything else she does seems to turn to platinum! :yup:
Thanks!
PS: Gwen Stefani is a rock and pop singer who performs solo and also with her band, No Doubt. She also has two fashion lines, and now these dolls too.

Well, as phones for kids go, the Firefly looks like a good idea. Cingular was running some pretty good deals recently...good luck! :)
EmmyNavasMom 9-26-2006, 3:08 PM My DD4 is getting a Leapster L-Max, a couple games for it, Glow in the dark Barbie she saw at WM, Cabbage Patch Newborn and who knows what else! LOL She would love some Littlest Pet Shop toys but she has already had her only set taken away because she repeatedly left the small hamsters on the floor after being told not to so they went in the trash. :( Had to, I have another DD who is 9 months old.
DD 9 months will be getting the Elmo TMX (got it bright and early release day!), Little People toys and that's all I can think of for her. With an older sister she already has every other "girly" toy in the house!
darkkan 9-26-2006, 3:12 PM My kids want anything and everything with Xialom Showdown on it. I can't find very much, although I did get the Season I DVD and saw where there will be a PS2 game in December.
Also, my niece is all over that Dancing Princess Barbie.

I heard they will be available only at Target + selected other stores sometime in November and they will be $24.95 each. 4 of the dolls will be modeled as Gwen and the other 4 will be modeled as the Harajuku girls. I hope that helps you!

In my opinion, Ipods are overrated. you can get all the same functionality out of an Mp3 player for a lower price, plus you don't have to hassle w/ the iTunes store. Walmart had n Mp3 player on BF for $99. it holds more songs than my daughter knows what to do with.

You can't go wrong with jewelry. Walmart most likely has a little countertop display hat has an earring/necklace combo that is 10k for about $20 they always have several sets some just gold some have stones/birthstones etc...;) They are cute for little girls I always pick up a set for my dd's stocking.:)
babytazz69 9-27-2006, 11:12 AM So far my 4.5 year old is asking for Spongebob Legos, O-scale Thomas trains, dvd's, xbox games, and a Laptop - yes, a real laptop computer.
He's also interested in the Fisher Price I can Play Piano (http://www.fisher-price.com/us/products/product.asp?id=35911). I'm gonna check out the Blue Man Group Percussion Tubes from ToyQuest also. That sounds interesting.
It's cool that fisher price now has a digital camera, but I already bought a cheap $100 digital for my DS in June to use on our family vacation.

I have no idea what the "hot" toys are, but I came to mention that this item is "HOT" in my mind. My son will have this item before the end of the year! MSRP is $70, Wal-Mart has it for $60, and BF deals will have it for less, I suspect.

Baby Alive might be popular this year. My Mom had to go crazy to find her back in 1990 for me. She is already selling for a pretty penny on Ebay and is sold out on TRU website. I just bought my DD one off the Hasbro website and if you use this code FALL25 you get 25% off. So I was able to snag Baby Alive for only 37.49!! I think a lot of Mommys who had this when they were little want this for their daughter just like I did...:yup: I'm not going to wait to see if they are available on BF...
wyntyrose 9-30-2006, 9:38 AM I just put the fisher price digital camera on lay away for my son. Now the search is on for the My First Dollhouse accessories.
hope1976 9-30-2006, 10:01 AM Our soon to be 2 year old DD is amazed everytime she sees any Bratz things, so I'm guessing she'll be getting some of that stuff. She's starting to be into the whole doll/stroller kind of thing finally :yup:
Our boys (5 & 8)...I have NO idea. 8 year old wants his own x-box, but he was already told no :D From what I'm guessing now, it'll be a little cd player/stereo for the 8 year old, and possibly a DVD player for his room or maybe a cheap digital camera. 5 Year old is really into hot wheels and race tracks or car scenes, so that'll be easy enough ;)

I have noticed that the cameras around here are going pretty fast. I plan to hit Walmart Monday and get one and a FP3 player on layaway. I just keep putting it off because it seems KB Toys usually has all their fisher price 40% off pretty soon. They are high than Walmart but with the 40% off they are cheaper.

The W-M I was at only had three of the cameras on the shelves. So I grabbed the last blue one. I hate our KB, but it is the only toy store here in NNY, unless I want ot drive to Syracuse. But I will venture in there for their Barbie sales.

funnymoney 10-4-2006, 12:41 AM I think the Love N' Licks puppies will be big. I saw one commercial and went right to the computer to order one from TRU. I think she will love it. I also think that anything that is in short supply will be big, no matter how ugly or annoying the toy is.
dont forget walmart is doing away with layway this year.

motoXmom 10-18-2006, 1:13 PM Cosmic Catch
Sounds like something that could keep our son and his friends busy for awhile. Neat!
bripoe 10-18-2006, 2:31 PM I found Cosmic Catch at Walmart last week for around $19
elena_398 10-18-2006, 2:36 PM I love that Digi makeover. My daughter is a tad too young, but it looks fun.
Walmart has the fisher price camera for $54. I bought one yesterday. Target had it for $59 with an extra SD card. Went with walmart though cause it came in pink and my daughter LOVES pink.
I actually bought my daughter the Digi Makeover and tried it out myself the other night(we call playing with the kids toys before Christmas "quality control", have to make sure it works). Anyway, I had a blast with it, I was taking pictures of my husband and putting makeup on him, doing his hair and all sorts of other things he protested, it was a blast!
I just hope my daughter has half as much fun with it as I did.
arrowpolisher 10-19-2006, 3:32 PM I have no clue what the hot toys are. My children get craft stuff and color books. Things like that. I have gotten clothes as needed. I really like relatives to get them musical instruments.

I am so glad to hear that! I put one on layaway at Wal-Mart for 69.99, but it was on Target's website for 59.99, I ordered it there and with the 10% off code it was around 62.00 with tax and shipping. I am taking the Wal-Mart one off my layaway.
My daughter is 9, and I think she will love it, she plays barbie hairstyler on our computer. She will probably think it's neat to be able to play with her own face!
It will probably be a hot item. There were only 2 at our Wal-Mart, and Amazon is sold out. They are selling them from Target.:)

motoXmom 10-20-2006, 4:25 AM I found Cosmic Catch at Walmart last week for around $19

I have to agree with that to.

who makes this and is there a web site I can look at it, It might be a great gift for my soon to be 10 year old
iluvdisnee 10-20-2006, 1:19 PM Are you guys seriously considering a cell phone for a 7 year old? My daughter is 7, and I told her NO WAY. I must be the meanest mommy on the planet!
late coming in on this thread but you are NOT the meanest mommy on the planet! My now 8 year old has been begging for one for over a year! I told her she doesnt have anyone to call that she cant call from our home phone and that maybe when she's 12 we will consider it!
sleepyshopper 10-20-2006, 2:02 PM My soon to be 10 yr. old just got a cell phone yesterady from his grandparents (oh no he isn't spoiled) I was actually excited about it...it gives me alot of piece of mind...since he is now at that age where he doesn't want mommy around him and his friends anymore :(
*pixie* 10-20-2006, 2:14 PM There's no way I would let me 9-year-old DD have a cell phone, BUT, after a few instances of her various practices and activities ending early and her being stuck waiting for me, I think I'm going to get her one of those Firefly phones to take along with her. Then she can't be calling her friends or having them call her, but she can get a hold of me if she needs to. I plan on just programming our home, cell, and probably her grandparent's number into it.

I thought that way too, But my 9 Year old has a cell, She calls me when her and her brother leave for the bus, and then she calls when the bus comes, She doesnt make any other calls on there unless it is to the 4 of us who have cell phones, We all share a plan, I looked into getting a firefly, and to added that to my plan was the same price as getting a regular cell phone. you have the cost of the phone and then 10.00 a month to the plan, A regular phone was free when I got her brothers and it is still 10.00 a month. She has my number her dad, her sister and her brother, the home phone and all of our work numbers and her grandparents, we could not do that with a firefly. I am not sorry at all and she has not made any other calls on her phone, as she knows I check it every once in awhile.
I finally gave in this year. I got one for my 6th and 7th grader to share.
I call it another "family" phone and that it is for ME and my peace of mind and not for them. That way I can call them when I am stuck in line waiting to pick them up or when they go tot a friend's house etc.
Trish1298 10-20-2006, 3:47 PM I think those Fireflys are a great idea. I will probably get something like that in a year or so, when he starts going places without me. I don't think a regular phone would work for him. He would call people all the time.
Bestbuy7 10-20-2006, 5:48 PM BTW, Amazon had the camera listed for $79.99 just yesterday. Guess Amazon and TRU are gearing up for a little competition, which should benefit all of us.
R
I thought TRU and Amazon were under the same company.

K-Mart has them on sale through tomorrow for $45... if you have their sales ad take it to walmart and have them adjust your layaway
jellybean051901 11-3-2006, 10:57 PM Anyone who lives in the Medina, OH, the TRU at Montrose had the Mickey's clubhouse and the WM in Medina had the Mickey clubhouse car

my 14 year old has the firefly and you can program up to 20 numbers into it. those are the only numbers the phone can call and the only numbers that can call that phone. i love it.
mccabefamily29 11-4-2006, 2:05 AM I am not really sure what the 'hot' toys are. My 4 1/2 year old wants the fisher price digital camera, Diego's rescue center, and a Quizard.
The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stuff is probably hotter than the Elmo thing judging from the Ebay prices. I have tricked down all of the figures (which were stuck on a bottom shelf at WalMart) but have yet to score the house. I've pretty much given up searching online (although I'm on just about everyone's "we're back in stock" notification list) and taken up stopping at every random WalMart, Target, and TRU I have to run across!!!
elena_398 11-5-2006, 8:57 AM I actually bought my daughter the Digi Makeover and tried it out myself the other night(we call playing with the kids toys before Christmas "quality control", have to make sure it works). Whats the age group on the Digi Makeover? Im thinking of getting it next year for my daughter Shes going to be 7 right now so I think I'll wait, but I think I'd have fun with it. lol
WhiskyHead 11-5-2006, 6:41 PM My kids are asking for Moon Sand. It is a never drying out molding clay that looks like sand but molds like Playdough. I think it will be a winner at my house.
johjstc 11-5-2006, 6:51 PM With a just little more than 4 months til Christmas, what are the "hot" toys for this year? Has anyone heard anything or what do you think will be big for this year? I haven't even started any shopping yet and I'm NOT looking forward to it.

Just scored the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!!! My sister in law found it at our local TRU on the bottom shelf pushed way in the back! I had just told her today to start looking for one.
Now I need to get at least one or two sets of figures and maybe the counting car! I am feeling sooooo much better. That is one of the few things my 3 year old had asked for.

tlm2121 11-5-2006, 8:05 PM the littlest pet shop get better center and the new polly pocket amusement park are both really popular
gorevis 11-5-2006, 10:01 PM If they don't have the Nintendo DS, you must get one. We bought one for my 5 year old daughter and I, earlier this year, and we love love it. The touch screen makes the neatest game play ever!
jellybean051901 11-9-2006, 1:51 AM If anybody lives in the Macedonia, OH area, I was just at Target today and they had quite a few of the TMX barbies if anyone is looking for them. Also, I have been to 7 stores so far looking for the Mickeys clubhouse toys and when I ask about them, no one has any idea what I am talking about.
Pun Guy 11-9-2006, 3:28 PM Anyone looking for Amazing Allison - Walmart dropped price from $99 to $69.99 in stores and on web site.
dirrrtyd82 11-11-2006, 11:47 PM What's the buzz on Cube World, any one know? We have them at the store where I work and even though we've heard they were going to be one of the "it" toys, they aren't flying off the shelves, in fact they aren't moving at all.

One of my kiddos has this item on their wish list so I looked around for a set of cubes locally. Finally found it at Wal-Mart and while they are neat little cubes, $20 is a bit steep.
I noticed one of the ads had them for $15 on BF, but I'm not sure about that price for two cubes with stick figures even if they do interact w/one another. :cheesy:
buttaflye 11-12-2006, 2:09 AM Anyone looking for Amazing Allison - Walmart dropped price from $99 to $69.99 in stores and on web site.
I noticed today that Target did the same thing, plus they have a $10 off coupon in their Toy Book until 11/22
