I am a member of this one only a short time, but it is sort of like homescan only the scanner is alittle smaller and your pts earn you gift certificates....also, instead of transmitting over the internet you hook it to your phone line (you leave it plugged into the phone line) and it uploads the information. It does not interfere with your phone in any way.

They WILL ask you if you are a member of homescan or any other program of the like.

"Shoppers’ HotlineŽ is the consumer research division of Information Resources Inc., America’s premier consumer research firm. Earn points toward a wide selection of great gift certificates to places like Blockbuster Video, Best Buy, and Target. Get an automatic entry in sweepstakes for cash and other great prizes"

I'm not sure why they are calling you everyday. I never get calls from them. I only received one call from them and that was the sign up process. I am getting ready to cash out for a $10 giftcard.

I've been a member for quite some time now and have cashed out several times. However, when checking my account, nothing has been updated since 9/18/06. I e-mailed them about it and someone called and told me they were working on their system and to check back the first week of November and it should be updated by then. I'm checking every day and it still isn't updated. I know what you mean about their strong accents, but when you can understand them, they are very helpful and so nice.

Homescan is a Neilson project. They have a website, if they are not recruiting members you can sign up and they will notify when they have a scanner available. I was a member for a short time, you are to scan everything that you buy groceries, clothing, etc.

I dropped out because I got frustrated with the scanner they sent me. Once a week you have to download the scans through your phone line. I scanned EVERYTHING for 2 months. I would get the Message that the "download was successful" but my points never showed up on the website. I thought it would take time for points to be updated. When I contacted them they told me that my scanner must not have been working properly-they couldn't award any points. I basically had to start over, I told them not to bother & I would send the junk scanner back.

I am a member of mysurvey.com. And very happy with my experiences. I earned a free GBA SP that will be wrapped up under my tree this year. :D

I am a current member of homescan. It can take awhile to get on their panel. When you do, they no longer send the scanners that transmit data through your telephone. They use scanners that attach to your computer. You can use an open USB port or an open serial port to attach the scanner. You need to be using Windows XP. Every time you make purchases you select the store name on the scanner, choose whether you used coupons and what kinds, and finally, whether or not you used a customer loyalty card. Then scan everything you have purchased, any coupon amounts and finally, your total when you are done. Once a week you transmit your purchases and you earn points for your transmissions. The points you earn increase the longer you have been with them. You can also earn points by taking surveys or being a member of select panels. You become involved in these select panels by taking surveys. They make their choice based on the responses members give. Right now, I am on two additional panels and each week I take a two minute survey. I also record purchases of a particular type into an online diary. I earn extra points for that too. I am also given a special catalog to order prizes from (with my points) that is exclusive to members of the panel.

You can also see this thread for more information:

Thank ya ma'am. I can't believe I got into this. Homescan has been driving me batty and I have really slacked off in the last 4 weeks. Just pure laziness on my part. Nothing they did. So now I got two programs to annoy me. LOL! I know I shouldn't complain. Many people would love to be a member. It just gets so tedious!

It looks like the rewards are cash? In debit card form? Darned okay by me!!!

sorry been away from GD for a while. Yes, you are supposed to leave it plugged in at all times. It updates the stores and stuff at different times, and your actual scans are transmitted on mondays..every monday.

please be advised..if you fail to send them scans for some length of time, they will call and harass you. We had some phoneline issues where we needed all new wiring and I could not transmit for a few weeks and they started calling me EVERY day. Every time they call, It is hard to understand them and they have a hard time understanding me, as they seem to be from India or Bangledesh..I'm not sure which. I believe shoppers hotline outsources. Anyway, I was getting very PO'd that they continued to call me everyday....even though I told them it would be another week before I would be able to transmit.

Other than that, the company leaves you alone as long as your scanner is plugged in and is transmitting on time. I was going to send the scanner back, but I think I will continue now that the lines are fixed.

They do pay, as another member said it is in the form of a debit card and can be used almost anywhere.

I'm tired, so I hope all of this made sense, If not feel free to PM.

I belong to Shoppers Hotline and I only hook up the scanner when I am transmitting. They updated your stuff by quarters and I only got in five weeks worth for the third quarter. I upload every week from the stuff that I scan and they keep track. If I hit all 13 weeks, I get more money on the debit card. And then you get bonus spins where you can win prizes, etc. With my 5 spins, I won a yard edger/trimer and $250!!

Finally! I received my scanner weeks ago. I have been unable to initialize it. I have been meaning to call and forgetting. Got a letter today that said they found the problem on their system that was preventing scanners from initializing and to try it again. All is good now. Initialized and working! I even managed to split the phone line Yet Again! so it can transmit on it's own! Cha-Ching! Bring on the cash! :)

Hi
My name is Pat I am new here. I was wondering if any of you are members of shoppershotline and if so are you having trouble logging in. I haven't been able to login for almost 3 months now. I called shoppershotline and they said that it was an isp problem but my niece logged me in from her pc.And when she sent me the url. And it took me back to the login page like it has a million times before. My isp says it is a security problem on my pc or that I have downloaded something that is blocking it from connecting. BUT I tried to login from a laptop that my husband uses which was not updated or has not had anything downloaded on it and the same thing on there too. If I try to login in it just comes back to the login page and if I try to go to msn explorer to the homepage it says that I am logged in and if I try to log out It says that there was a problem with the site and I cannot view any other pages Account, etc. Can anyone relate to this problem. I have sent about 5 e-mails to them but no responses and I have called 4 times this week. The same ole story we will try to resolve this problem if it exists please give us a call. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have been able to get to the site and I have been perpetually logged in since I joined. When I click on "My Account" I get taken to a 404 error. If I try to log out I get taken to a 404 error page. I have had so much trouble with them. I have had problems initializing the scanner and when I try to upload data my sessions time out. Phone calls get me nowhere. I figured I would wait until the quarter is over and see if they send my card and credit my account. Until then, I keep track of everything and write it all down. Once a week I email it to them. I will put up with this until the end of this quarter. If they don't fix it I will send them my copy of all the activity I have had/done on their behalf and when they pay me for it I will ship their scanner back.

countrygal1961
1-8-2007, 4:45 PM
I can go to the page that you are refering to. And I am also logged in .I get that 404 error to. Can't log in and can't log out. I called today and I got the same ole stuff. CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD.I have changed my password about 6 times in the last month which is requested by them each time. I don't think that we are talking about the same scanner..Shoppershotline is the one I am having trouble with. I can do ACNelsen/homescan no trouble there (yet).

mmm40
1-8-2007, 4:56 PM
Yeah it's the shoppers hotline scanner that has been giving me trouble. I am having fewer problems with it now. I changed the number tries to upload data from 2 -5. That has worked. The website still doesn't work for me. How are we supposed to change our password when we can't access the web page?

No. I am not part of the rxpulse. They only sent me a scanner about 4 - 6 weeks ago and the scanner wasn't even working until last week. If you remove the www. and the .com from the link it will let you post that. Could you post that much for me? TIA!

countrygal1961
1-8-2007, 9:20 PM
Thats what you have to add is the w's to the shoppershotline + the.com. It takes me to the sign in page. But if you just type in http. to the shoppers.hotline it takes you to the account page. Which is no good for either one of us.

mmm40
1-8-2007, 10:04 PM
Okay, cool! That actually worked. I used the addy www.shoppershotline.com When I used my old password I got that same old rigmarole. When I tried changing my password myself I got the same thing, So I went back to the log in page and clicked on "forgot my password" They sent me a link to reset it and since then the entire website has worked! Thanks!

Now, do I remember reading, if I leave my scanner hooked up all the time they will automatically, on a weekly basis, access my scanner and upload the data? Or do I have to upload it manually each week? If so, then why do I need to keep it hooked to my phone line all the time?

Awhile back someone posted a thread for ShoppersHotline. They had an open call for participants. It closed shortly there after. There was no notice of how long it would be open or when it would close. My advice would be to check the link every so often to see if they have another open call. If I see anything on the site about another open call I will post it.

Your Welcome. Actually I resigned up last night HOPING that they would tell me that I had already joined and help me get to the site. Do a ASK.com websearch.Thats what I did and the second one tells you how to join. I have been with them for almost 8 years I have over 6300 points. The scanner will update all the stuff for you and when the battery gets low they will know and will send another one.You should keep it hooked up at all times to keep the stores updated and you don't want to record everything and forget that it is not plugged in and have to start over. Besides if it's not hooked into the phone line they can not access it to update.

Homescan is with a different company, but I think its essentially the same thing. I'm currently a member of Homescan and would like to be a member of Shoppers Hotline, but I was under the impression you couldn't do both. I could be wrong though!! It would definitely be GREAT if you could do both!! I was wondering why I could never find a sign-in like for Shopper's Hotline so MMM's explanation above is why...they aren't accepting anyone right now. I'll keep looking though. I like Homescan and haven't had any problems with them (knock on wood!!). :tongue1:

I think in the original post regarding Shoppers Hotline it was stated that they do ask if you are a member of another scanning program. It did not state that they would exclude you. I, too, assumed it would exclude us from Shoppers Hotline if we were a member of AC Nielsen. I took Shoppers Hotline prequalifying survey anyway. I answered honestly that I was/am a member of another scanning program. Apparently, they didn't care or maybe they didn't notice the answer because they sent me a scanner. I can log in.

Is this the only site you are having trouble with? Could it be a firewall preventing you from getting to where you need to go? When all else fails I do this:

--> Run --> type in msconfig --> click ok --> click start up --> click disable all --> click ok

When you close out this screen it will ask if you want to restart. Click yes.

After your computer starts again you will see a box. Tick the little box and click the button. (It says yes or okay or something. I can't remember which)

I just tried what you suggested and still nothing. Thanks anyways. Well if I get a survey from surveyspot and try to login my pc says that IE has to shut down due to an error. I use msn explorer and IE explorer.I use msn explorer for my hotmail. So if I copy the link from my msn hotmail and go to IE exp and paste it in the address bar I can do the survey. But other than that yeah its mostly shoppershotline trouble.I have disabled Firewall,pop-ups,phishing, and enabled cookies. It has to be something from their side cause I tried logging in from 2 different pc's and my niece logged me in from the same isp so its not an isp problem. Maybe security But the laptop that I tried to login from here has not had any upgrading or anything.

mmm40
1-9-2007, 7:55 PM
Okay, which IE are you using? If you still have six try the upgrade. If you have 7 try uninstalling it. Your browser will automatically roll back to 6. There's always Spybot and Adware scan.

Good luck! I hope you get this worked out soon!

And I sent an email to msn explorer about the surveyspot problem.Who knows maybe if I get one problem fixed it will cure both problems

I joined the shopper's hotline one year ago. I had the same problem as you while installing the scanner before. Then I returned it and wanted to change another one because I thought it might had some problems inside the scaner. They did not send me another one and I thought that was it.

I signed up the membership again when I saw this post. After complicated vertification process, They send me another scaner, which is different as the one they sent me before. This new one work by connecting with phone line directly instead of a computer, which make things easier. No softwares needed

Every time I try to sign up for Shopper's hotline wired, I download the software I get a message that says my computer is already configured for their software and when I click ok nothing happens, I can't register nothing, the box just goes away, has anyone else had this problem, is there a setting I need to change or something, it is very frustrating I have tried before but gave up, tonight I thought I would try again but still get the same thing, any ideas?

I would suggest calling the Shopper's Hotline customer service number. It's listed on their web site. I didn't have any problems downloading SH Wired, so I don't know what problems you're having. I have had other problems in the past and the customer service reps have always found the solutions to the problems I was having.

So I took the survey and it said that I qualify and now I need to call to verify my information so they can send the Welcome Kit and scanner. Then it says to be sure to be have my 9-digit ID ready, but following that there are parentheses with no number or anything inside. Did anyone else have this problem?

I have been with shoppershotline now for a very long time...I have gotten several cash in rewards.

I have tried to download the shopperswired program and I always get an error message saying there was an error during download.

I have called them several times and have just asked for a cd so that I can download this and I still havent gotten one or any advice as to what I can do to load this program. I dont have a firewall blocking anything either.

Try putting in different batteries and see if that helps. I've never gotten a live person when I've called...and emailing takes a couple of days.

I have been doing this about 6 mo. First quarter got $10. This time I will hold out for enough points for $25. I find it really easy, and the points add up without me obsessing about it. I also have the dial-in model.

I got a call last night from Shoppers hotline about a product they knew I bought cause of the scan! A quick 5-min survey got me 50 points... and there was a survey this morning. I am on my way to a $25 GC this quarter...

Been doing this a year or so. Very easy, earn $25 every quarter with surveys and scanning. Also there is a RX site that gives you an extra 15 pts a week, so that helps add up points.

And near the holidays they ran specials with special points. Very easy!

I've been doing it over two years. Really easy to do, easy to send results. Only time I hate it is around Christmas when I have to scan all those presents!!

I've won $250 and a weedwhacker in the spin and win game. Highly recommend this.

What if you decide to not do it anymore? Do you have to pay to ship the device back to them?

I just got my scanner today. When I scanned my welcome code and put the scanner in the cradle, I did not hear the dialing tones as the booklet said I should, but I did hear three beeps. I wouldn't call them "happy" beeps, but they certainly weren't "sad" beeps.

Also, I scanned an item to make sure it worked, but I'm not sure if it is transmitting the scanned information when I place it in the cradle. Are you supposed to hear the happy beeps each time you return it to the cradle, or is there a button to press to make it transmit?

Any suggestions, or should I just call the help desk?

UPDATE:

I never followed up on calling them back to activate my membership. THEY called me a couple of times. Like some of you below have mentioned, the lady had a heavy accent and was hard to understand. I ended up hanging up on her before she got very far. After that, I figured I was off the list and forgot about it.

TODAY, I get an email

Apparently, they are a little desperate for "members" as I have done everything possible to ignore them. LOL We'll see how it goes, I hope I have not gotten myself into a big hassle...

Apparently, they invite you to join. You can email them and be put on a waiting list, but they will contact you when/if they need someone that fits your demographics.
