Very small increase, but still good for those of us with accounts at ING Direct (http://www.gottadeal.com/click.php?type=coupon&id=326).

Had an account with them for a few years now. Found out about them on another deal site that starts with an s. I believe I started with 3% interest when I first signed up with them. They had a deal going on where you would get $50 for opening up with an accout with them. Like the automatic deposits that you can setup with them.

My wife and I opened individual accounts taking advantage of that special offer.

I recently put away a small amount of money in my ING account and hopefully can continue doing so and get some bonus back in time for Christmas 2005.

Okay, I'm clueless...how do you actually get money in and out of an online bank account? Do you have to use other people's ATMs (and get charged their fees)? Do you have to have an account at another bank, and they paypal you the money? How does it work? I thought I was good at online financial issues, but I'm feeling kinda dumb here LOL.

this looks very interesting. I may be doing this. I just have to check what my current interrest rate is on my savings account.

It's done via ACH, bank to bank transfer and there are no fees.

You have 2 options to swap money between your bank and ING Direct:
1) Automatic savings, each month ING Direct debits your bank account for $xx on the same day.
2) Manual, you choose when and how much much is deducted.

So there is no Paypal, no ATM. Transfers are free and usually take about 3 business days.

I have been with ING for at least four years now. Before the interest rates went down, i had a 4.75% with them before!
Their rates always beat your local bank rates. Even the CD rates (which typically higher than savings)

another note about the institution:
they are one of the biggest financial company in Europe (just like bank of america in the US) They are hq in netherlands.

I just called up to see what their customer support was like, and it was amazing!! I got a machine saying that this call will be recorded for security purposes, and then, bam! Right to a rep, no waiting, no hassle and he was AMERICAN!!!

Love it! Love it! Love it!

About how long does it take for the initial deposits from ING to you checking account take?

We have ING through my financial advisor but it is the Health Ins. plan (I believe).

I know this mya sound weird but can you take money out of a CC and put it into the bank instead of going through the checking acct.

I would love to do this behind Chris' back but only to surprise him with the potentiallly earned money. Nothing awful like some of the rest of the family is going through. This does sound interesting though. I might be emailing you guys at the beginning of next week or on Saturday.

Leah, I'm sorry but your question makes no sense.

If you take out money on your cc it's considered a cash advance which is bad because:
1) Interest begins accruing immediately (there is no 25 day grace period).
2) Interest rates are higher than purchases usually.

So unless it's a real EMERGENCY you should never ever do a cash advance.

They said check in 2-4 days. It really all depends on how long it takes your bank to post the deposits. Just keep checking your account.

When I signed up they asked for a checking account, and they have to verify it (by making two small deposits into it, then you get back to ING and tell them how much the deposits were). It doesn't appear that they will transfer from a credit card--only whatever checking account was verified.

Correct.

INGDirect.com to/from your bank account.

No Paypal and no credit card.

well, best laid plans....I had to use Chris' name since my license expired Nov. 8 and they wouldn't let me use it. Just haven't had time to have Chris drive me to the DMV and get a FL ID card.

My 2 amounts came in this morning and I now have 30.00 in there! I also referred my MIL but doubt she will take up on it. But that is fine. I am going to be heading over to my other board and plug this to the 3k+ women over there! LOL.

Thanks for this! My acct. is titled CAMP JEEP. I think that is pretty self-explanatory! :D

How much is everyone setting aside each month to their ING Direct account?

I think $50/mo is a good start.

I got a refund online for SOMETHING (can't remember what) and put the money in it last month. I haven't put anything else in it yet. Going from paycheck to paycheck makes it a little harder to put some money in. I do love having the acct. though!

I'm trying to put a little away each month. That's great news the interest rate has increased. :)
