I have roughly 1500 on my CC and another 300 on a brand new one that hasn't even been activated yet. Would I be able to call Chris' CC company and pay off his card with MY cards, making room on his one card for BF? We are not sure if I will be able to come with him and since the only cards with any room on them are in my name.... Is that doable or against the law or anything else?

Hi Leah,
Welcome to the finance forum :)
Yes that's doable and is perfectly legal. First call Chris' credit card company to get an accurate payoff balance (this may be different than what's showing on his statement). Also have his most recent cc bill with you. Then call YOUR cc advising them you would like to do a balance transfer. Ask them is there a fee (it's usually no fee or 3% or $50 whichever is lower), what is the APR rate and how long is that rate good for? They will need to know Chris' cc issuer (name of bank or cc), complete cc number, cc billing address for payments and of course the amount.
Chris' cc will be paid off to $0 and his balance will be transferred to your cc.

Thanks Ross. We will get that started tonight so that way we have enough time to do it and it will keep me from buying anymore things from this cursed site!
