Both my kids are home recovering from swine flu and are bored stiff. I decided that today is the day for them to make out the Christmas lists. They are both busy scribbling down things in their little notebooks. So cute!

When did y'alls kids make out their lists?

Have they been asking for certain things all year?

What kinds of things are on their lists this year? (Maybe they can give my 11 year old dd some ideas..she's having a little trouble)

My DS 11 is asking for a new old PSP. His old one broke and doesn't want the new one that just came out so we are going to get him a new old one. I am also getting him a TV and DVD player. He isn't asking for it, but he needs an upgrade! LOL Other than that, he is asking for video games, movies, books, some toys (like Bakugan) and that's about it.

daughter (will be 2 3/4 on christmas) wants zhu zhu pets, baby doll stuff, and the princess cash register. everything else i am guessing on. LOL

my son (5 1/2) wants legos...which is my hardest to figure out..GI Joe stuff, a DS, the imaginex dragon tower thing, and about 400 other small items like action figures, and whatnot.

My kids dont actually make out lists yet, but we have started the tradition of circling things in the TRU big toy book to help. :)

My kids have been asking for things since the end of summer. That's when I would say, "put it on your list."
They officially started last month, and we have them all typed up (easier for me to keep track of). I actually put a deadline on them for Halloween. By then, they pretty much know what they want.

My kids are still quite a big younger than yours (DD6 and DS4).
DD6 wants Chrissa (the American Girl Doll), a few Webkinz, and lots of Barbie stuff
DS4 wants a Trio set, a few webkinz, Geotrax, and a few Cars cars

DD9 is asking for clothes, hannah montana, zhu zhu's, ds games, wii games, ps2 games, movies(snowwhite,up,tinkerbell, monsters inc on bluray), music..

My 3 year old dd wants everything she sees, so she's not hard.
My 12 year old ds says he only wants a laptop. We'll see...

We started thinking about lists last month. One of our traditions is for me to give both my kids there own TRU Big Book and a marker! After they have figured out what they want I go through and figure out what I want them to have ;) then I save pics off the web and make a folder on my computer (that they won't find) and name each pic with the name of the toy, where to buy and how much it is. When it comes time to go shopping I just print it out! I usually do this for my MIL also so she has a visual of what the kids want so she can actually find them! ;):)

The screen got broken on ds7's PSP. We're trying to decide if we should try to replace the screen or just buy him a new one. It was dh's fault, but I'm afraid to spend $50 or more on the screen and not be able to figure it out;)

DS19 let us know a long time ago what he wants! LOL!!

DS7 has only told us he wants the Yellow Hamster and the Brown Hamster (Zhu Zhu) so far. I'm sure he'll tell us more soon ;)

Anyone who has read the odd gift request thread I started will know that, among other things, DD6 has requested a book on the human brain, a jar of pickles and a feather duster. Since the last post she has come up with a full page of things - though one has been crossed off as she chose a pair of pompoms for 40 cents at a thrift store sale instead of $5 brand new at Meijer. :D

DS8, on the other hand, has a much smaller and simpler list: Play Doh, Sorry board game, sidewalk chalk in the shape of a bowling ball and pins, and memory cards for his new PS2 among other things. He should be quite easy to shop for :)

DD6 likes everything she see too. However, these are the things she keeps mentioning and showing me so I have written them down.
Digital Camera (pink)
Barbie with dolphins
Barbie with bike
Polly Pockets
Scrabble Junior
Paperronis
puzzles
A really big box of crayons
Groovy girl dolls
Patch the Pirate CDS
Our generation Doll with book
doll clothes and shoes
Books
I have been asking for a list from the other kids (ages 25-18) but so far I only have a few ideas. Our rule is if you put it on the list you can not buy if for yourself after Thanksgiving.

My DD10 wants anything American Girl or Tinkerbell and my DD almost 7 doesn't care as long as it has monkeys on it.

I carry a small notebook in my purse. When shopping with dgd, 10 yrs old, from Jan to July everything she wants goes on her birthday list in the notebook. From July to December things go on the Christmas list. She is a very content child and rarely sees things she wants so I am happy to keep a list for her.

So far she has 2 ds games Scooby Doo and Ninjas, a Wii Resort game and a Webkins on her list.

My DD11 is asking for another studded belt and studded bracelet. Along with clothes from Justice, Aeropostale and Hollister. She has asked for the DS game Imagine Detective. I also got her the video camera from Dell. I am thinking of upgrading her to a DSi, but not sure about that yet. We may be getting her and DS 13 (14 in December) a pool table/air hockey table for the basement and if a really deal comes up upgrading their TV in the gameroom to get the old one off the floor. That is only if we see a deal we cant refuse.

I also take my son,11, to Target with a notebook in hand and have him show me what he wants. That way on BF, I know exactly what to get.

My kiddos have been looking at the Toys R Us catalog but I'm finished shopping and all the presents are wrapped, labeled, and packed away until Christmas Eve. It feels great to have it ready to go! This way, I can actually enjoy the holidays w/o stressing. :)

My rule is that my children have to tell me what they want by the 20th of October. They each make their own lists and then give them to me. They also make a separate list for what they want grandparents and other family members to get for them, this way we have a "Santa" list only and then a "family" list only.

DD 15:
Wii
Wii skin (Rebel Flag)
A long list of games for Wii and accessories
HDTV

DD13:
Laptop
Gift Cards: Aeropostle, Claires, American Eagle and Pac Sun
Purity Ring

DS12:
PS3
Long list of games and accessories
Metallica necklace
30 Seconds to Mars dog tags

We are also taking them on a 7-day Cruise the week of Thanksgiving that is considered to be part of their Christmas as well, but this means that I will miss Black Friday :(....hoping some family will help me out!!!

At our house we keep a running list of "wants" on the side of the fridge and add things to it all year long. My 10 yo DD's consists of a laptop and random ds games, but she keeps saving her allowance and buying them herself so they get crossed off the list:yup: Her birthday is just before Christmas and she will be getting a laptop and for Christmas we will be getting a 32 inch flat screen for her room along with a dvd player.

My DS(5) has consitantly asked for Bakugans (two please! HOW CUTE:)), and a bike. He asked for a REAL 4-wheeler and I had to tell him that Santa can't haul those on his sleigh...and he let it go...dodged that one this year.

He also does random "I want that!" during commercials, but nothing else has really stuck.

He is nuts about those Nerf guns but I've been saying :gdno: for a long time, so maybe I'll pick one of those up too. Other than that, he'll probably get some movies and wii games.

KimberlySA

DD11
netbook
Liv doll
clock for her ipod
ugg boots (big maybe)
gift cards: hollister, abercrombie, claire's, itunes

DD7
(this one has low functioning autism so her toys are "younger")
zhu zhu's - all 4 hamsters and the playhouse
play kitchen
american girl doll knockoff from walmart or target
board games

I need to start thinking about stocking stuffers too.

My boys are 11 (twins) and my dd is 3. One of my boys says he wants a camera and a laptop if I can find a good deal...:D The other wants good hunting clothes and maybe some decorations for his room. But we'll see if that holds true....

My dd sees an ad on TV and wants everything...lol But I think she really wants a new kitchen. Hers is just one of the cheap ones that we bought last year just to see if she would play with it. She also says she wants a train table...but, I know that she will only get one of these.

I think we are going to get a trampoline because that is something that all 3 of them would like.

We haven't really made lists yet my DD7 hasn't even really mentioned wanting much suprisingly and the things she has said have just been while the commercial is on so those don't count because she more than likely forgets about them within a few minutes. Haha

DD3 (soon-to-be 4yrs on 12/3!)
-pink fuzzy slippers
-play-doh ice cream parlor
-zhu zhu hamsters (got them!)

DD7
-?? I'm sure she'll want a zhu zhu so I picked her up one as well!

We're almost done with the lists. I take notes all year long and then hand out lists to family, informing them what Santa is bringing and what we are bringing. Everything else is fair game.

Santa is bringing:
DD - 7
BFC Doll and clothes
Razor scooter
Pillow Pet
Bed canopy

DS - almost 5
Razor Rip-Rider
Bakugan crap (he doesn't know even what to do with it, he just thinks it is cool)
Pillow Pet
Walkie Talkies

Santa is also bringing the entire family a basketball hoop.

Every year, I tell my oldest son (5 years old) to tell me the one thing he REALLY wants Santa to bring him, and I make sure to get that. Then, I just buy him a bunch of other stuff that I know that he would like.

This year, he told me that he wants Star Wars Legos, or the Space Police Legos. The youngest (2 years old) told me that he wanted a train set.

The iPod touch and TV really kill it.

If you have a big family, it could be done.

And I agree with Conj.

Love,

Your adopted child, Terry.

PS: IF you're going to do Modern Warfare 2 and/or Left 4 Dead 2, you have to do Xbox Live. Both games aren't worth much without the online game play.

PSS: Aeropostale (and Old Navy for that matter) make really crappy boxers. Go with Hollister or American Eagle.

Hey Terry, sorry to thread jack OP but... My son keeps saying he wants the Xbox for christmas. I tell him we already have a Wii so play it. I try to avoid the subject since I already ordered his laptop but I am still considering the Xbox. The only thing is, I have no idea which one. I guess I also wonder if whatever it is he is wanting with the Xbox, can he get it with the Wii. He likes those killem all games like you mentioned so I'm thinking you know what he's talking about. Can you give this old mother a clue?

You can get some games on the Wii. There's a new Resident Evil & Silent Hill game out, but I'm gonna be honest, I don't know how well those would go over. There are some other first person shooter games out there like The Conduit, and Dead Space, but if I had to guess, he probably wants to play his friends, and they're going to be on either the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Regarding the two games I mentioned above, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is Xbox 360 & PS3 only. Left 4 Dead 2 is Xbox 360 only.

yes... but I've seen your christmas tree... his dream world is not too far from your reality :)

Funny! lol He is getting the iPod Touch for his birthday (12/28), I do plan on getting him an LCD TV but his room is not very big so I don't think he needs a 34" one! I will get him the games.....I hate paying full price for anything so he will get what clothes I find on clearance. The AE flannels are $29.50 each on clearance! I just got him a Rant last Christmas then the Instinct in June, I think 2 new phones in 1 yr is plenty so I am not giving in on that!

LMAO Terry! He normally won't wear ON or Aeropostale but apparently he was willing to give on the boxer brands as long as they weren't from Walmart.

Do you seriously think the kid doesn't already have Xbox Live?? lol It expires in January I think but he put GOLD....is there a difference?

BTW, this list is only for me,lol. My mom gives me $60 for each kid to buy stuff from her for at her house. I let them pick 1 big item or I surprise them. I usually get them around $200 worth of stuff for their $60,lol. Their gram spends about $100 on each of them, my sister spends $10 on each. I won't disclose my limit......lmao. I don't really know anyway, I'll spend however much I have extra then when hubby gets his bonus check I will spend all of it too, lol. It should be close to $1500 this year! I will probably get the TV with that, I need 4 of them.

So I have 2 Gold memberships to buy now. Last year I lucked out and got 13 months for $29.99 on Amazon.com.....I was hoping for that deal again! Amazon had it for pre-order and they were giving a $20 credit towards another video game purchase. I preordered it along with Assassins Creed (Xbox), Super Mario Brother (wii) With the order for COD MW2 I got a total of $40 in credits.

I ordered Left for Dead 2 (Xbox) from Dell

DS13 (almost 14) told me that I should pre-order it because it was going to be a very popular game and might sell out lol.

Check out my ds14 list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And don't 4get to read the last line!

Joe’s Christmas List

I about peed my shorts laughing soooo hard! I seriously thought the list ended after the Banjo Kazooie game. Then I thought the last part was the pre order shirt but NOOOOO

Then the list went on.... and on... and on....

Maybe he should write what he does NOT want as it might be easier?

Wow Siczlo! My DS14 seems very sensible about now! lmao Did you hit the lottery and he knows it or what?

No, not at all. He thinks because I'm working now we're rich. Far from it. He said he doesn't expect to get EVERYTHING on his list.....Just make sure what I do get him IS on his list. LMAO

I always told my dd and now my dgd to write down everything she wants and Santa will pick what he thinks they should have. Worked, they make a list and receive a reasonable amount of gifts. I have never heard either of them say there was something they really wanted and didn't receive.

Thank goodness, their list and what they receive are no where near the list posted above.

siczlo,

Well at least he won't be hard to buy for!! So what are you going to get him, with that list I am curious. :)

My DD6 told me she wanted (I quote) to add to her list so I would have more options, in case I had more money I wanted to spend on her.

I was thinking the Zune HD, but I'm not sure yet. I like to keep it at about $300 each kid. That would max him out.
I just don't think he needs another system. He has xbox and Wii. Why does he need Playstation3???

Here's my 10 year old's list:
Dan’s Christmas List

1. I pod touch

2.new body sled

3 hooded coat

4. HAVOC HELI

5. DRAGON AGE ORIGINS game Xbox360

6. 360 GAMING TOWER to hold games

7. GAME CHAIR

8. RECHARGEABLE XBOX360 CONTROLLER-BLACK

9.ASSASSINS CREED 2 game XBOX360

10.POGO STICK

11.XBOX LIVE MIC

12.XBOX LIVE VIDEO CHAT

Now, they have xbox live, so what's 'live video chat?'

PSS: Aeropostale (and Old Navy for that matter) make really crappy boxers. Go with Hollister or American Eagle.

The hubs only wants AE boxers. They are pretty comfortable with a good waistband.

My son's list is always back and front of lined paper, my daughters is about 10 lines long.

Man, you got to take away the catalog he was using to make his list. I am pretty sure that is everything possible out there that a kid would want. My kids are 13 and 14.

I guess I should feel lucky by ds14's list:

first a WHOLE LOT of items for his bike, different color brakes, spokes, etc.
10 different kinds of bouncing balls (to terrorize the cat on the stairs)
transformers figure
Call of duty warfare- need for speed shift for wii
the A Team on dvd???? I don't even know if they have this out anywhere
a puppy
cherry crisp
finger trick bikes
a bunch of rockets parts

Not too bad, but we know he's saving for a car and keeps showing us ones on the internet. He wants a classic, 1978 or 79 camaro.:)

I felt really let down when my DS12 and DS11 couldn't think of anything to ask for. Their response was "Mom, we HAVE EVERYTHING!" OMG! WHAT! No list? Nothing to go shopping for? Are these my children? Then my baby came and sat by me and said" Just suprise me! It worked out good on my birthday!"

My kids were all the same way.
DD15 just asked for clothes.

DS9 just had a birthday and could not tell me what he wanted for his birthday (besides a quad) and now knows nothing he wants for Christmas.

DD6 wants an American girl doll and can not think of anything else.

DS3 ask for new wrestlers and that is it. Only problem is he already has so many and I have been looking for weeks to find some he does not have yet and I can not find any.

Then he has Gold already. I am getting Cayden a 360 for his bday (12/12). I am just picking up the Elite Bundle at Kmart on Friday. I have been wanting one to watch Netflix on,lol. So I have 2 Gold memberships to buy now. Last year I lucked out and got 13 months for $29.99 on Amazon.com.....I was hoping for that deal again! Toys R Us had the Call of Duty game on special the say it came out. You got a free $20.00 gc with purchase. I went that day and bought it for my nephew for Christmas.

okay I don't feel so bad now after reading everyone's lists.

DD18 & DD15 have short lists - but nothing on their list is less than $50!

and Christmas Day will be like reliving the 60s as everything on DD15 lists is all about The Beatles.

wow.
DS 18 wants left for dead2 and sneakers
DS9 wants PS3 and one game

and they don't have excess of anything. we aren't poor; they just aren't greedy and know I am not buying stuff that will be junk in a month.

they never complain about clothes, usually buy Old Navy or yard sales. NEVER get a clothing request. LOL

Wow! Those are some pretty big lists there at the beginning! My kid is looking pretty nice now! When he was grounded around his b-day this summer I got him almost nothing on his list but I hid it and kept it so at xmas I would have some ideas. He also made me a very small list- pretty much Xbox 360 only thing on it since his dad told him he could have the xbox there and then took it back. He was so disappointed and I told him that I already went shopping for other stuff since his dad said he could have that one! I think he believes me because I keep telling him he will get cash from some people in our family maybe and he can save up for one. Little does he know I am getting him one, hopefully the COD special one =)

Sounds like my DS and he's only 11...However we got the LCD TV last year for his big gift. The year before it was a laptop and rockband. Year before that PS3.

This year he couldn't even come up with a list because he HAS everything already. So we compromised. He is getting a new bedroom set with a queen bed instead of his twin he's had since he was 2. I even let him pick out one of those armchairs that turns into a twin pullout bed...This is something I've been wanting to do anyways so it worked for both of us ;) SHHHHH!

Other than that a few PS3 games and some shirts/jeans from the brands he likes and he is DONE for christmas and he is fine with that :)

Good luck with all that ;) LMAO I especially love the list with the STROBE LIGHT...OMG my kinda kid!

The AE flannels are $29.50 each on clearance!

LMAO Terry! He normally won't wear ON or Aeropostale but apparently he was willing to give on the boxer brands as long as they weren't from Walmart.

We buy most of our AE online with coupon codes. And honestly I don't mind spending 29.50 on a flannel from AE. Have you looked at Walmart/Target clothing prices recently? Not that much of a difference. Kris only wears A&F jeans, that is what fits him the best. But we've literally had pairs that have lasted him for 3yrs. They've paid for themselves IMO.

On to the boxers. Again I will only buy good ones too. My babies come from Gymboree *boxer briefs* and Kris gets them from Gap or Old navy. They last alot longer than the walmarts ones (actually we've never had walmart we've had cherokee brand from Target? and they were horrible!) And I am sure they will go to AE when he gets bigger (he's 11 and only weighs 64lbs ;) )

So IMO the clothes/boxers aren't that bad either. Things you would have had to buy him anyways and he still thinks they are gifts...KWIM

OK so I will say it, his list didn't seem THAT extreme to me, minus the phone since he's had 2 this last year.

Kris' grandma got him a digital camcorder and his other grandmother is getting him Tony Hawk Ride or a Kindle. So we know all about the grandparents fueling their "fire":tongue1:

 WOW!

Thankfully my boys lists, according to what they told me last night are...

DS7: "I want 2 new games for my Nintendo DS and some toys and the Wii hunting game with the gun for Daddy so I can watch him play." What games does he want? "Um, Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones." (Which I just so happened to have ordered from WM.com about 2 weeks ago, 2/$30...woo hoo!)

DS4: "My want toys." When I asked what kind of toys, he said, "Fun ones! Like the hippos that eat the balls." (Hungry Hungry Hippos? That I can do!)

DFosterS2: "Lots and lots of cars!" (The kid is obsessed with Hot Wheels!)

DFosterD3months: Obviously doesn't have a list, but if she did, I think a nice, warm bottle full of formula would be at the top of it. :)

Things are tight for us this year (DH only worked 7 days this month and will work 7 days next month... :( But at least my kids won't be disapointed with what they get for Christmas... they've set the bar so low that they're sure to be thrilled with what they're getting!

Gotta love teens. ;)

My son is 16. He gave me a list and then a catalog w/ items circled. From the list is:
-BMX Bike (There was a very specific one he wants, I remember the days of getting a bike for $50.00, I paid $400 for this one).
-Bean Bag Chair
-1 new Xbox game--- no title specified, he says he doesn't know suprise him
-4 prs of Jeans from Pac Sun
-Boxers an socks
-Itunes gift card

Then from the catalog:
-Sneakers
-2 hoodies
-3 T-Shirts
-Belt

My mom will be getting all the items from the catalog for him. Very coincidental that he knows what grandma spends, he knows she like to order online, and his catalog items w/ shipping add up to EXACTLY what she'll spend.

The Itunes gift cards he'll be getting from 1 aunt and my MIL. He knows about the bike and I'm getting all the other stuff since there is nothing really unreasonable left on his list. I also am getting him a few additional clothing items. I am thinking of getting him a second "BIG" suprise item though he won't be expecting. I'm trying to decide between trying to get him 1 of the Ipod touch deals on BF or a Laptop. His died completely over the summer so now he shares w/ my husband. Though I'm leaning towards the Ipod touch for Christmas (still cheaper) and then getting him a good Laptop w/ my parents for his birthday in late January.

My kids have everything but they still seem to come up with more stuff, lol. It wasn't an easy chore for them though.

Jeninpa - get him the boxers and the rechargeable batteries (the two least expensive items on the list). hehe.

The list is suppose to be complete, not just suggestions, lmao. Honestly the phone is probably the only thing he won't get and the TV will be downsized. The iPod Touch will be his bday gift but everything else will either be under our tree, gram's tree or Nana's tree, lol.

I honestly don't think it is extreme either other than the phone and the size of the TV,lol. The sad part is I could add another line to my phone plan for $20 a month (unlimited everything plan) and probably get that phone real cheap.....I need some serious help, lmao. He is such a good kid that saying no is not easy, lol. DD10 has a crappy tracfone I pay $20 for every 3 months and she has been begging for a phone. I think I will try my hardest to hold out til next year on this one though, lol.

BTW, my oldest 3 got laptops last yr & the youngest got an electric dirt bike, lol. So honestly this is cutting back a lot!

well as my ds5 is special needs he does not make a llist but I know he would love love love the rockband because he"plays"( aka pretends to play it.. I am willing to pay 50{well 60 I ordered the other day when it was the value of the day} for it but not 100 or 200 so thank you walmart. it everytime we go to a store that has it. I am going to pick up a total of 60 bucks of other things just to see if he will like them but pretty cheap for him.
DS1 is to young for a list but he LOVES to"help" mommy mommy clean and work in the kitchen so he is getting a play set of cleaning tools all his own and a kitchen all his own.
