My wife and I, what about you?

View Full Version : Who do you shop with on Black Friday? RossMAN 10-8-2005, 10:57 PM My wife and I, what about you? outnumbered 10-8-2005, 11:03 PM I've always gone alone. Dh has stayed home with the kids. This year, if I go out, the kids will come along, but not till later in the day/weekend, so my true BF shopping will be done online (and alone, as nobody else will be online shopping with me, LOL). ajbrowns 10-8-2005, 11:06 PM Last year it was me and 3 friends that I teach with. This year it will be me and my best friend that will be visiting...I can't wait! Amie MarkRaby 10-8-2005, 11:50 PM Hm, apparently it's not family fun with just your sibling. 2003, it was just my brother (Eric) and me. 2002 - Eric, our friend Patrick, and me. 2004 - Eric, his gf Stasi, and me. 2005 - Just Eric and me again. -Mark- Gumball 10-9-2005, 12:03 AM Just me & my 6 yr. old daughter. :) RossMAN 10-9-2005, 12:07 AM Changed 2nd option :) Gumball 10-9-2005, 12:08 AM Can I change my vote now? :D I'll go with Choice # 2. RossMAN 10-9-2005, 12:12 AM Can I change my vote now? :D I'll go with Choice # 2. I think I can change that, what was your original vote? Gumball 10-9-2005, 12:13 AM I picked "other ... please specify" LOL RossMAN 10-9-2005, 12:22 AM Deducted 1 vote from Other and increased #2 by 1. Fixed :) Gumball 10-9-2005, 12:24 AM Thanks RossMAN. :D RossMAN 10-9-2005, 12:39 AM You're welcome, happy to help :) diane175 10-9-2005, 1:10 AM I always go with my mom or sister. We try to all three go together and make it a girl's day out! :gd_purple SynthDude2001 10-9-2005, 1:35 AM Only been once so far, but that time it was with a friend and her boyfriend Rebirth 10-9-2005, 2:58 AM Friends. starshine 10-9-2005, 9:20 AM I go with my mom. I'm not sure if she will be going this year becuase of her knee replacment but I'm working on her! Gator Pam 10-9-2005, 10:19 AM :::sung to George Thorogood's I Drink Alone::: I shop alone, yeah with nobody else I shop alone, yeah with nobody else You know when I shop alone I prefer to be by myself... Actually, if I could convince either of my guys (dh or ds) to get up and shop with me, it would be nice. But, neither of them will deign to even acknowledge that I'm up at that time of the morning on a day off from work and school. And since we're out of town at FIL's for the holiday weekend, I have no friends nearby to shop with. savingsdude6 10-9-2005, 10:23 AM i shop with my friend or my mom.! elena_398 10-9-2005, 11:10 AM I eventually meet up with family, but actual shopping is done by myself. On thanksgiving we give each other a store to go to. (mom, sister, and I). Once we go to all the stores we agreed on, we meet for lunch. Its great and I know if I couldn't make it to a particular store in time, one of them already got the stuff I wanted there fairydustcrissy 10-9-2005, 11:48 AM I shop with my mom, grandma, aunt, and when she can get the day off, my sis. Its a family tradition! leaannk 10-9-2005, 12:22 PM My MIL and SIL. We leave the kids at home with the Dads. We make it a girls day out -- shopping, lunch, and more shopping.:) elena_398 10-9-2005, 12:27 PM In all honestly, I cannot get one of my friends to go out at the hour I do. They prefer to go much later. So I prefer just to go out myself and be the first few in line. I don't mine. I always meet tons of nice people while in line. melissashops 10-9-2005, 12:38 PM I go with my best friend, the hubby stays with our children. It's the one day of the year we can leave the house way before the sun comes up and stay out until we are completely broke without a husband calling and asking when we will be back. It's understood we are shopping hard and we are to be left alone unless there is a child emergency LOL f1rstclass 10-9-2005, 4:52 PM me, myself and I that way I can get in and get out and go back if need be! LOL! kmbrly 10-9-2005, 4:55 PM I go with whoever is willing to get up at 3am. This is probably the ONLY thing I do NOT procrastinate at!!! When I say 3am, I MEAN 3am! You're late? you'll need to drive yoruself, cause I'm already gone. lol JenT1292 10-9-2005, 6:25 PM I shop alone. Others with me would just slow me down. RossMAN 10-9-2005, 7:28 PM I shop alone. Others with me would just slow me down. LOL that's the spirit :groovin: hpowers 10-9-2005, 7:32 PM Sister and SIL amez74 10-9-2005, 7:43 PM I've shopped in the past with my mom and sisters, and last year and this year I'll be shopping with my sister in laws. Only once have I went out by myself--I admit you can cover more ground alone, but it is imo more fun with others with you. amy brynnfromtheblock 10-9-2005, 9:22 PM Mom ... our yearly tradition treasure60 10-10-2005, 12:58 AM Usually a friend,,,or daughters. freesia39 10-10-2005, 1:03 AM if i'm getting up at the crack of dawn, i'll probably be alone unless it's a super tech deal, then my brother will go with me. no one else is insane as i am. my aunt would go, but she goes to jc penney/wal mart/etc and i like to hit up the computer deals really early. blakes_mommy 10-10-2005, 9:41 AM I used to shop with my mom but she blew me off for my dad. So, I go with my 18 year old cousin, she is bugging me from college wanting to know if any ads have been posted here yet! Grants Dad 10-10-2005, 11:45 AM I'm the 'bulldozer' for my wife and sister, plus, at 6'4" I tend to see things better and reach the top shelf..... mrn8 10-10-2005, 12:00 PM It's been different every year, but usually just one person goes with me. Steakgoddess 10-10-2005, 2:35 PM I usually go by myself, but Dh is super paranoid this year and does not want me to go alone, so I am bringing my 6'5" 270 lb cousin with me. decafmom 10-10-2005, 3:32 PM It depends on the year - if my mom isn't home I go alone, if she's here we go together. DigDoug 10-10-2005, 4:40 PM Last year was my first year and I went with my girlfriend at the time. I'm not sure what plans I will come up with this year. I may crash Nate's Black Friday party if he goes. :) t_mulkey 10-10-2005, 5:59 PM I usually go with my mom. My new SIL went with us last year, but she slowed us way down. We won't make that mistake again. Mom and I are a good team. It is our one day of the year that is totally just us. I don't have to compete with my kids for her attention. lol Tracy72 10-10-2005, 11:55 PM started out with my one sil...then added my mom and another sister and 2 nieces hhockman 10-11-2005, 12:50 AM I usually go with my mom, but my husband and my dad have to work that day, so my mom will probably be watching my kids...which means I'll be alone. Unless my brother and my new SIL show up for Thanksgiving. I might be able to drag my SIL with me. Maybe. But alone is fine. It's faster that way. sbhiggins 10-11-2005, 1:26 AM All three years I've gone it's been me, my sister and my dad. Sadly, I can't go home this year so if I go it will be either me alone or (very unlikely) me and DH. Maybe if we stay up all night until 5 and then go shopping-- otherwise, forget it. I'm bummed to be missing out on the family fun this year. :( SuperMommy 10-21-2005, 9:30 PM We make a family day of it. I usually go with some of my aunts, cousins, my stepmom, and my grandmother. We'll be the bunch of goofballs you see running through the stores and yelling back and forth. :gd_shake: dealluvr 10-21-2005, 9:42 PM i'm with jen ,, i go by myself cause if i want to leave or whatever i don't have to wait for someone else.or sometimes i hear people talking about some unadvertised deal or one i didn't hear about and i might just pick up and go right then and there Gporter34 10-21-2005, 9:48 PM Usually just me and mom, and aunt. This year mom, me, and 2 of my kids, for reinforcements.lol We got extra set of walkie talkies for them, and they have their instructions already. :banana01: :banana01: :banana01: :banana01: bayhaysay 10-21-2005, 9:57 PM My sister and I go together every year. This year my 10 yr. old daughter will be going with us.:g_clap: Christypl 10-21-2005, 10:02 PM I shop with my mom...and now my 2 year old son. elena_398 10-21-2005, 10:41 PM Every year, I head out on my own. Love it because I can go at my own pace and not wait for someone to "hurry up" or checkout at the registers. My husband stays home with the kids and after Im done shopping, I meet up with my mom and sister who also shop by themselves (we get all the door busters this way!) cami_reardon 10-21-2005, 11:51 PM I take my 16 year old daughter. She is 5'1" and weighs 100 lbs soaking wet. All legs and arms, so she can sneak in between people really easy. :lmao: Anyway, I tell her "OOOOh we need that" and point, next thing I know she's beside me with it in her arms. It's great!!:cheesy: Jenniferharrison82 10-22-2005, 12:16 AM I go with whoever is willing to sit with me outside walmart at midnight...usually no one. I would rather be alone at the front of the line. elena_398 10-22-2005, 12:18 AM Thats the only thing bad about going yourself. Waiting in line for that first store your going too. Though Im a talker and make friends, I wish I had someone then ~*Shanna*~ 10-22-2005, 1:14 AM ussually dh and a heard of friends. We all have evil plans on how we are going to get everything we want first... We make friend's with people in line, detailed lists, send my dh over to the hard stuff to get, never get carts... We wait patiently in line for about 2 hours before they open and have hot coffee and crack jokes. Sometimes even harrass the people who cut in line and wait to bombared the door. (Not in a really bad way tho this is a pretty small town lol ) Marcster 10-22-2005, 1:19 AM Me and the wife... We usually make conversation with the others in line. Last year at OfficeMax, I helped a woman load a 27" TV/VCR/DVD combo into the back of her PT Cruiser. nellyhill 10-22-2005, 3:49 AM I have only been twice... First time was with my Mom. Second was solo. This year I take a newbee that has always wanted to go BF shopping but never had anyone to go with. scarabarra 10-22-2005, 5:17 AM My mom and I go! We are already talking about it and getting excited :) orangedaisy 10-22-2005, 6:52 AM I'd like to say I have a shopping buddy, but my husband has to stay home with the kids and my sister always poops out on me. So yes, I usually go alone. StephanieD 10-22-2005, 6:59 AM I always go with my husband...last year though, my mother and sister came along with us. all2tired 10-22-2005, 7:10 AM It's just me all by my lonesome MaddynAllysMom02 10-22-2005, 10:03 AM I go with a friend. She has to leave her house at 3am to get here by 4:45.....we are waiting in front of TRU at 4:45, since they have been opening at 5 the last two years, even though the ad says 5:30...............lol. Carey 10-22-2005, 10:12 AM Me and my best friend go (without children) :g_thumble all4linkae 10-22-2005, 10:26 AM I go alone!!! And I love it! I know what I want and where I need to go to get it - I don't want anyone else carting along slowing me up ~ hahaha! erh12275 10-22-2005, 11:49 AM Well some years it's just me and some years it's me and hubby and the kids. But this year it's just he and I since we now have family that can watch them while we shop. Also won't have any room in the car w/ the BIG TV I plan on buying..lol.:D JBKing 10-22-2005, 12:17 PM My wife goes with me, at least the last 3 years. I started shopping on BF about 10 years ago, sometimes dragging one of the kids with me. But it's more productive to go by myself! My wife and I usually go our own way at first, that is after we spent the previous several days mapping out our game plan! :D After we get the must haves, we'll meet up to finish shopping and/or eat somewhere. computerlady 10-22-2005, 7:25 PM Got my hubby hooked on BF last year, it was the first time he ever had the day off. his year it will be my hubby, my daughter and niece. jessnickkatieryan 10-22-2005, 7:28 PM My husband and I shop alone very early and cell phones charged!!! geekswife 10-30-2005, 10:45 AM We usually have a team plan with about 6 people, 2 per team w/ plans to visit 2-3 stores each. We all meet up around 11am to disburse the goodies we've picked up for one another and write checks. :) It's a pretty intense operation (they call me the shopping nazi), but everyone gets what they wanted and we're finished fairly early. This year I'm adding hubby to the group. He'll be going with me, provided he sticks with the plan (otherwise, he may be hailing a cab from the Target parking lot). He's 6'4 and I need him to reach tall shelves, lol! ;) Amy Illinoismom 10-30-2005, 1:47 PM I go with my 18 year old daughter and MIL this year I am bringing my 15 year old son, Dad is staying home with two younger ones 8 and 6, My daughter has been going with me since she was 15 before that I shopped alone, If she wasn't coming honme from College don't know if I would go, we have so much fun gigit65 10-30-2005, 3:33 PM I used to go alone till 3 years ago a friend moved from florida and I found out she loves bf so now we go together. Believe it or not I found this site, but he gets into the BF shopping and deals more than me. My hubby would never admit it...but he loves it too. He makes fun of me all the time for being on here so much...but when I tell him the prices on the stuff he wants...he's like a kid. Even called me the other night to see if I had the Sears ad yet.:jester: tootsieroll23 10-31-2005, 12:33 PM My hubby would never admit it...but he loves it too. I do like the BF deals, but it is more fun to sit back and watch his excitement. :banana01: Especailly if it means saving some money :g_thumbri It is usually a race to see who can get to the computer first and check the gottadeal site. neesie 10-31-2005, 12:35 PM I shop alone - no one to keep tabs on my spending! holly2hottie 10-31-2005, 1:03 PM My sister and I go out, she works retail so she works the afternoon and gets up early to go with me, they I go out alone. We make a long weekend out of it. After diner my mom takes the 3 kids, Dh takes a nap and well I'm too excited to sleep. We hit the sales locally early. Jump on a ferry from NJ-Delaware hit the outlets there and then spend the weekend in Ocean City, Maryland. Thats why BF is pretty much my favorite day of the year! Vicki |
