View Full Version : Hottest Toys This Year?
WalMart just sent us a link to their new ToyLand (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=RjWYtCqO0*M&offerid=64951.10003181&type=3&subid=0) section of their site with the hot toys for this year.
So parents (or anyone else), what do you think your kids will be asking for? Is there any one really hot toy this year that will be in demand and could sell out?
Also, if you want a good site for getting cheap toys on Amazon/ToysRUs.com, check out Toys2005.com (http://www.toys2005.com/) which is another one of our sites.

elena_398 10-6-2005, 12:29 AM On Regis and Kelly today, Family Fun magazines' 10 top toy list was on. I wasn't impressed with most of their picks. A couple I liked, but they were for boys (too young for mine)

buckwheat_jegc 10-6-2005, 1:09 PM Has anyone heard anything about the vtech handheld game where the parents in the commercial encourage their kids to play it? I was wondering if any of your kids/friends had checked it out and what they thought of it.

No I haven't but that sounds like an awesome toy, do you have a link?
BTW :2welcome: to the forums, nice avatar choice :greenappl
buckwheat_jegc 10-6-2005, 1:40 PM No I just saw the commercial a couple of times and my youngest said he wanted it...like everything else that appears on the tv
Thanks for the welcome. I really enjoy watching LOST--especially Naveen Andrews. Just waiting for Barbara Hershey to let him go.

Did you see last nights episode? Awesome!
elena_398 10-6-2005, 2:09 PM My son asked for the X-box 360. I told him no way. He already has a green x-box I won from Mt. Dew (I love free!), a PS2, Nintendo 64, and Regular PlayStation. Not to mention a GameBoy advance too. He tried last year for the DS but I honestly don't want him in the house sitting on this butt 24/7!
buckwheat_jegc 10-6-2005, 2:16 PM Last night's episode was GREAT...I KNEW that girl was one of "the others" when they threw her in the pit. What I DIDN'T know was that the Korean guy spoke English, although my youngest son did know. I really wanted to see what would happen if that button wasn't pushed.
elena_398 10-6-2005, 2:33 PM On regis also, it showed Spin Art. Im thinking my daughter would love this. Its on sale at Toys R Us now too! Of course my luck she will put the paint elsewhere besides the toy
disneytati 10-6-2005, 4:29 PM My daughter is a huge Barney fan, and things here are too expensive because they're imported from the USA... So I'll try to bring her some Barney toys.
hhockman 10-6-2005, 11:20 PM I didn't see that Regis episode, but that Shake N Go Speedway is going to be my 3 1/2 year old's "Santa" gift. He hasn't learned to ask for anything yet (next year I'm sure), probably because his mom buys him everything before he has to ask. I'm glad to see it's on the list, because that means it will be on sale at some time or another! :D
As far as the handheld V-Tech thing. We have the version that's not handheld and it's cool enough (for a 3 year old), but he's getting the Leap Frog L-Max for his birthday. The Leapster and L-Max seem to be more popular. But that's just what I've seen.

Is it the V Smile Pocket (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007WWZIQ/qid=1128658888/br=1-2/ref=br_lf_t_img_2//102-0384479-5660946?v=glance&n=14026311&s=imaginarium)? I haven't seen the commercial, but it looks cool. Hopefully they'll be on sale this BF because my DS would love this :)
boudmel 10-9-2005, 1:18 PM Not sure if these will be the HOT toys for this year but my DD - 9 is asking for Pixel Chix, Dream Life and Animal Crossing DS for Nintendo DS.
She just got a Nintendo DS with Nintendogs for her Bday and she loves that and it seems to be pretty popular with the kids right now.
alvarose 10-9-2005, 1:44 PM I am looking at getting a Leapster for my son's b'day 12/23. What does the max do that the regular one doesn't?
outnumbered 10-9-2005, 2:25 PM I am looking at getting a Leapster for my son's b'day 12/23. What does the max do that the regular one doesn't?
It hooks up to the tv to play games on the TV, not just on the handheld Leapster.
I bought the Leapster for my son's 5th birthday last year (12/31, close to your son's!) and he loves it. I like that it's something he can do *without* the tv being on, so I'm happy with having just the regular Leapster. It's like a Gameboy, which more and more of his friends are getting, but it teaches him something. He does the Spiderman spelling/reading one now and really likes it. So it's a great compromise for us.
okiebakerrb 10-9-2005, 4:47 PM I am having lots of trouble this year my boys are 9 and 12. They are to old for a lot of toys but too young for just clothes. I'm tired of getting them video game and computer stuff. I would love it if someone would come up with same innovative "outdoors" stuff for tweeners.:trampolin
f1rstclass 10-9-2005, 4:57 PM The GOGO TV thing looked so cool. I think that I will get that for my nephews and may even play with it myself...LOL!! :-)
Gumball 10-9-2005, 7:25 PM On regis also, it showed Spin Art. Im thinking my daughter would love this. Its on sale at Toys R Us now too! Of course my luck she will put the paint elsewhere besides the toy
Spin Art has been around since I was a kid and I'm 45 now. It's pretty cool. I've actually still got the same spin art thing I had when I was a kid, it's packed up out in the garage. Don't worry about buying those refills for it, you can use poster board and poster paint in a squirt bottle. You can even use neon poster paints. Just don't let her use too many colors at one time, it makes a drippy mess and takes forever to dry. LOL A quick way to get the cards to dry a little faster is to use a hairdryer on them on low speed & temp.
:)

My nephew who has everything got that for his birthday. His mother says she can't get him to put it down. He is learning though. So I say let him play. I think I might, MIGHT get one for my baby girl (well she is four). She will need something in April when she has surgery.
provresgrp 10-9-2005, 11:38 PM Has anyone seen the FLY PEN?
I'd like to see one in action.
Supposedly, you can draw a calculator, and then USE it.
Or write a math problem, and the pen will solve it.
Write words, and it will read it.
Not sure what all it will do, but you can buy extra 'memory' packs for the pen.
genoandkiddo 10-9-2005, 11:44 PM Has anyone seen the FLY PEN?
I have, and I can't believe that we have gotten that lazy we need a pen to do all that stuff. It can even spell check words for you. I saw it at a sci-fi demo at our State Fair.
elena_398 10-9-2005, 11:45 PM Im going tomorrow to get the spin art toy. Its a great gift for my daughter. She just has too many dolls and barbies. Need some more toys ideas. She loves art so Im going to buy some art supplies. I got her the crayola art chest last year that was on sale during BF and she absolutely loved it. nice storing container when I bought more items she used up. Shes into playing school too so Im going to get her a new chalkboard w/ accessories.
Gator Pam 10-10-2005, 12:14 AM Has anyone seen the FLY PEN?
I'd like to see one in action.
I hadn't heard about it, so I just googled it. Is it the leapfrog product? If it works, it sounds amazing!
treasure60 10-10-2005, 12:43 AM I am looking to buy for 2 and 4 yo girls, 4, 13 and 14 yo boys. I know what to get most of them,,,just having problems with getting safe toys for a 2 yo toddler!
diane175 10-10-2005, 9:23 AM All my daughter (11) has talked about is Pixel Chix and getting those cell phones they advertise for kids. But those only have a 2 mile range and her best friend lives 5 miles away. LOL So we will see about that one! ;) My son (14) is into science so I will be looking for science related items that are "old" enough for 14! He also likes to play his PS2 and Gamecube so games are a given! :)
elena_398 10-10-2005, 9:37 AM Diane, check out the science stuff Toys R Us has in their ad this week. It is on sale till October 30. They have 6 different science items that are for boys 10 and up. My son will be 11 and he loves science. Especially the soler system. Origonally $25 I believe they are $19. I may be getting 3 of them as they look very interesting.
JazzMama 10-10-2005, 12:20 PM I don't know about across the board hot toys, but I have been asked for a DoodleBear about a gajillion times.
Same here! My 4-yr old is crazy about those. She also wants:
Anything Barbie Pegasus
A bald Cabbage Patch baby
Bratz plug-in-play dance mat
Gator Pam 10-10-2005, 1:47 PM Do y'all think the Storyteller Care Bear will be as hot as Teddy Ruxpin was when he came out?
Gumball 10-10-2005, 2:16 PM My daughter is in a Thomas The Tank Engine phase this year. I'm just hoping that Target has them on sale again on BF.
darkkan 10-10-2005, 2:30 PM I got the V-smile console for my youngest son (then 2), and he is just now starting to play with it a lot. I would think that the V-smile pocket would be great!
I got my oldest son (6) the Darth Vadar voice changer with this year's stuff, and a GBA SP. I will prob. get more V-smile games for my youngest, since he is so into it now.
Tracy72 10-10-2005, 3:10 PM I look at the top 10 list and I like the chat now for my girls....9 and 3...I think they will love this....and just did a bid on ebay for a go go tv..lol....the slurrpy machine is going really high on ebay..well high to me..lol

Elena, Thank you very much!!! I looked thru those and they are PERFECT! It is so hard to buy for an older child, especially when they adore science! ;) Thanks again and they are definitely on my list to get!

Is this the V smile pocket? I am going to ge that for my kids.We have the larger V smile unit and really like it a lot.
treasure60 10-11-2005, 2:13 AM Gator Pam, I hope it is! I am getting that Storyteller Care Bear for my granddaughter and I bought her dad the Teddy Ruxpin when it was hot. I just hope she isn't scared of the thing...lol
Princessarky 10-11-2005, 7:39 AM Darth Vader Voice Changer is so not worth the money unless you find it on a great sale
I am getting my oldest a bike, the youngest are easy at ages 21 and 8 months but I can't for the life of me figure out what to get for my 8 year old daughter.........she isn't into dolls and isn't into much actually.......if I could get her figured out I would be all done shopping.......other than bf that is just alot of extra stuff for EVERYBODY in my family :)
starshine 10-11-2005, 9:23 AM The only thing so far that my son has asked for is a Doodle Monster. Hopefully someone will have it one sale. 16.00 for a stuffed animal that you draw on is nuts!

What's the age range on those? Appropriate for a kindergartener?
Does anyone know what the hot items are for boys in the 6-7 year old range? Thinking of what to get my nephew for Christmas....
gijimenez 10-11-2005, 12:25 PM Me and my coworkers were talking and realized that all of our boys wanted the Roboraptor. Its a remote control dinosaur with sensors its cool. Walmart so far has it the cheapest 99.87. If you go to the wal mart web site you can see the commercial.

I'm not sure which of these toys are hot items this year but here are some 5-7 year old (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/171368/) recommendations.

Thanks. I've been looking at toys2005.com and found some things that may be of interest. I'll check that out, too.
emidrew 10-11-2005, 12:41 PM I was glad to see that the Chat Now is on the "hot" list...I picked up two sets, but my kids have decided they would rather have a pre-paid cell (THEY have to take care of refills!). It is only about $20 more and a lot more versatile...
Anyway, I'll hold on to those Chat Now's and ebay them! (Grinning broadly as I remember selling a $40 Barbie cash register for $177.50...)
The Fly Pen looks neat...BUT, it only does all that neat stuff if you are writing on FlyPen paper. I think it is one of those things that starts out reasonably priced, but by the time you add the extra cartridges, paper, etc...you have reached the price of a major gift. (Of course, DD wants one!)

My oldest (6 in Dec) is very into action figures and anything that goes with them. He has this Spiderman dressup set with a mask and hands that make sounds that he likes. R/C cars are a big hit with him too. And he found a Lego Bionicle in the closet I just cleaned out that entertained him for much longer than I expected. He also found my old cell phone, LOL, that I had when he was a baby...he begged and begged to keep it and has been walking around with it in his pocket for days. I thought he was long past the days of pretending to talk on the phone, but he says this is different because it's "real."
outnumbered 10-11-2005, 1:10 PM Oooooh, and look at this:

I think I just found a birthday present for Brian. :D

Thanks. I was starting to lean in the direction of Legos, Knex, or something similar. He's 6 (7 in March) and he loves dinosaurs, Buzz Lightyear, and The Incredbles. We've already gotten him a remote controlled T-Rex and Buzz in the past. I'm thinking it's time for something that lets him be creative. :)

Those look interesting.
Prittithings 10-11-2005, 5:13 PM My girls 3 and 6 want Fairies, Fairies and more Fairies.Fairytopia, Flower Fairies, My Scene Masquerade Madness Fairy. We are up to our kneecaps the the friggin' things.:angel1: :angel1: :angel1: :angel1: :angel1: :angel1:
fairydustcrissy 10-11-2005, 5:24 PM Yep, we got lots o fairies around here as well. my girl are 4 & 6. They also want the Cinderella whose dress lights up, and Magic Pegasus stuff.

It seems as though kids are really into gadgets these days. My sons are 8 and 15. The youngest one wants an iPod shuffle which is usually about $90 on sale. I'm sure it will be less now that the iPod Nano is being launched, which runs about $125. Most kids love to listen to some type of music--even when they're studying or just hanging out. Outdoors stuff seems to get pretty pricey and since we're in the big city, I wouldn't get it, but if I were in a rural setting, then I think that the little mini cycles are neat and really popular. My 10 year old nephew in Carolina is getting one for Christmas. His best friend has one and it keeps them busy on weekends. If your sons are into sports, the stores seem to have an outdoor basketball hoop on sale every black friday. I know I purchased one two years ago and will purchase another one this year--one for each boy for a "real court" feel (they say). Every Christmas there's also an updated version of the Air Hoggs, which my oldest son has enjoyed for years and the youngest son is looking forward to getting this year (maybe). These are planes and rockets that are propelled by air pressure to make them project or soar really high. Bikes and rollerblades are good exercise if they're into them and don't have them...my sons also have a laser tag set that they enjoyed playing with their friends before we moved.
elena_398 10-11-2005, 11:55 PM The science toys at Toys R Us are for 10 and up. So older boys. Definately too hard for little ones. You must have the same age as I do as my daughter is in kindergarten. She has a summer birthday so shes younger than most in school. She just turned 5 in June. A lot of her class is 6 or is turning 6 this year
Gator Pam 10-12-2005, 6:38 AM How do the TRU science toys compare to the National Geographic ones at Target? Same quality for a better price?
Beorn has pretty much outgrown TRU, so I'm never in there, whereas I'm at Target all the time...

Yep, Brian's going to be 6 on New Year's Eve. Christopher turns 4 today. His birthday is all screwy. Out here, the cutoff is Oct 1, so he misses the cutoff. They won't let him in pre-K this year. He has to wait till next year, when he's 4 at the start of school but he'll turn 5 right after. But back home--if we are there--the cutoff is Dec 2, so he'd be able to go to Kindergarten when he was 4-almost-5. So depending on how long it takes us to move home, I may be sending a 17-year-old off to college, or I may have an 18-year-old high school senior writing his own absence notes. ;)
Lori317239 10-12-2005, 8:53 AM My daughters (8 & 10) want Cabbage Patch twins (boy/girl sets) and my youngest also wants a bald Cabbage Patch boy with pacifier. My son is 12 and wants a Bass guitar & Nintendo DS.
elena_398 10-12-2005, 11:17 AM Its so hard to buy for my 10 yr old (he will be 11 on November 16). Hes too old for toys. He even told me not to even look at them! he keeps telling me just to surprise him. Yeah right. Im at a loss. He loves the Tennessee Titans, but I don't want his whole christmas to revolve around that. He pretty much as the cd player w/ remote, Mp2 player, computer/printer (the works), Cd headset, etc. Im beginning to realize my husband and I have spoiled him too much in the past so now this christmas we screwed ourselves in finding something for him. Thats why I love those science kits at Toys R Us. Seem fun and educational. The only thing my son really said he wanted is a keyboard (nice one). We bought him an electric guitar last year w/ amp. My husband did say next year he is drawing the line on drums as he doesn't need to start his own band!
My daughter is easy to shop for. She is 5. Anything girlie girl and shes happy. She loves Bratz, Barbie, Kim Possible, and Polly Pockets. Oh and makeup. I bought her a cute makeup set with lip gloss etc. Its adorable.

Thanks for the idea, I discovered the Butterfly Pavillion and we will all have a great time with this one. Perfect for my 8 yr old daughter.:g_laughin
Gumball 10-12-2005, 5:36 PM A friend of mine got my daughter the Care Bears doctor set with Tenderheart Bear for her birthday and she loved it the first few days but hasn't touched it since. She acts like she's forgotten she has it. And she's a big Care Bear junkie too. At the moment she's ga ga over Thomas The Tank Engine so I need to find more of those instead of the CB stuff. Anybody know where I can find a good deal on Thomas stuff? All Walmart has on their site is bedding sets.
Angelseyes28 10-12-2005, 9:26 PM My daughter wants the doodle bear and my son wants the doodle monster. Then there is ps2 and games, some $50 toy dog that I can't remember the name of....the list goes on and on:(

we bought that last year .
man oh man ...
get ready for crazy cleaning .
just one wrong move and it is all over the place .
we only let her play it on the kitchen floor and trash it went after the battery died .
it was really a waste of money .
but that is just us ...lol

Beware the rock tumbler! My don got one of these a couple of years ago and it is super loud! It takes like a month to make a rock too! I think I'll be looking into the solar system though!
boudmel 10-14-2005, 12:07 AM I guess Tamagotchi is popular again with the kids this year. Both my DS and DD asked for one the other day. I went to Walmart to check for them and none to be found. I asked a sales clerk and she said they can't keep them in stock. All the kids want them.
meteorologist1 10-14-2005, 12:48 AM Hi, does anyone know of or can predict the likelihood of the Robosapien toy being on sale on Black Friday this year? :) I failed to get one last year. Maybe this year it will be cheaper.
boudmel 10-16-2005, 11:41 PM DD has started her list already - and she has Fly Pen on it. I am just not sure about this one- I have a hard time spending $100 on a Pen even if it is a computer. This one might have to wait - if it goes on clearance after Xmas it might show up in her Easter Basket - LOL
civicracinggirl7 10-17-2005, 1:34 AM I have a 2-y/o (3 in Jan.) niece who would be happy with pretty much anything she gets (including the wrapping paper and empty boxes). She does enjoy the singing/dancing Elmo dolls (has Hokey-Pokey, E-L-M-O, one that says "Elmo loves you", and possibly another one right now), so she goes really nuts when the Elmo "Shout" commercials come on lately. Same with the "Tumble-Time" Tigger doll.
I also have a 4-y/o niece (5 in Nov.) who is usually happy with anything she gets also. She likes Barbie, and I was told she liked the Bratz commercial (but I don't think that's a suitable toy for a 4-5 y/o, due to the shoes and how hard the clothing can tend to be to get on the doll).
I babysit for a 9-y/o girl and a 6 (7 in Dec.)- y/o boy. The girl is into most things Bratz. She has pretty much all of the bedroom accessories and electronics on the market for them, a handful or two of dolls, some play accessories. From what I see, she doesn't really play with the dolls or accessories much, but she loves all of the bedroom accessories & electronics. She's also into Tamagochis, video games (has a GameCube and GBA SP), etc.
The boy tends to play with toys once or twice, and forget about them.
It doesn't seem like there is any one "got-to-have-it" toy for this year. Of course, we still have time.
For younger kids, anything will usually do.
For tweens/teens, I think a lot of them will be wanting a Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Apple iPod, X-Box 360 also if it's supposed to be out for the holidays -- haven't paid much attention to that.
orangedaisy 10-17-2005, 9:10 AM What about stuff for teenagers besides cell phones and computers? LOL. I have a 15 y.o. boy and 16 y.o. daughter to buy for. UGH. I have a 6 y.o. son too, but he likes so many things that he will be easy to buy for. It's so hard with the older kids.

Ipods and MP3 players seem to be popular with the teens lately.
beckers1111 10-17-2005, 10:54 AM Has anyone seen the fisher price nativity set?? It may only be available online, but its the CUTEST thing. Its on the fisher price website available on 10/20.
blakes_mommy 10-17-2005, 10:58 AM My 4 and 2 1/2 year old want everything, my 11 year old wants nothing, go figure!
lesliepear 10-17-2005, 11:02 AM For Thomas the Tank engine trains (the wooden ones) - the best deal is to get them at Michaels or AC Moore when they put one of their coupons in the paper for 40% a regularly priced item - although not all Michaels have them.
I think the Hot Wheels Rollup Raceway is a good toy - my son got it for his 3rd birthday and he was able to figure it out with a little help from me. It also folds up into a space not much bigger than 2 cars. Oddly enough, it only comes with 1 car though.
elena_398 10-17-2005, 1:16 PM I'll have to check out the rock tumbler as I bought it. maybe I'll return it and get the metal detector instead (he wants one of those too). I bought the solar system one and it look fun.
orangedaisy 10-17-2005, 11:13 PM OK, I got my six year old to tell me a few things he wants. So far he wants the Fur Real Friend dog, Scamps, black and white to be exact. He also wants the Doodle Monster. It's a start! I wonder if either of these will be hard to get or if I should start looking now....
orangedaisy 10-17-2005, 11:16 PM Ipods and MP3 players seem to be popular with the teens lately.
Definitely! My son already has an iPod that he bought on his own. Last year my daughter wanted the Brittany Spears perfume, Curious. My husband had a hard time spending $50 on that but guess what - it was the #1 thing that she sooooo desperately HAD to have, so we caved. Teens are so hard to buy for. :runaway:
aauroraa 10-18-2005, 9:50 AM my daughters is asking for Pixel Chix , Dream Life both of these are quite pricie.... pixel chix was like $30, and the dream life was about $45.. i havent seent the pixe chix in stores yet but dream life i have seen at k-mart and target....

You might want to pick it up if you do see it as the stores around here can't keep either in stock - both Pixel Chix and Dream Life are selling out very fast. I picked up Pixel Chix and I'm going to see if it goes on sale - I will just take it back and get a price adjustment.
mandimama 10-18-2005, 4:26 PM Diane 175 what's a pixel chix? I too have an 11 year old daughter and am looking for ideas. I was also thinking of getting her that "firefly" cell phone...but havent quite decided on it yet.

SuperMommy 10-19-2005, 3:14 PM My daughter is turning 3 on 10/23. I have seen advertisements for a Care Bear that reads special books that you can buy for it. I've been seeing the ads for weeks now but have not been able to locate the Care Bear in any store. Has anyone seen it anywhere?
Also, does anyone know when the new Star Wars movie come out? This one is for my big kid (my husband).:2tapdance
mflower25 10-19-2005, 3:40 PM I'll be getting the little touch leap pad for my daughter she is 3 mons now and loves to push keys on the computers keyboard. I'm also looking for a sewing machine for my godchild at wal-mart last year there was one for $20 so hopefully I can find that again as far as the rest of the kids not sure.
fairydustcrissy 10-19-2005, 4:05 PM Guess I need to run back to Target and grab those Pixel Chix I saw then. Both my girls want them. They are so expensive, but they are pretty cool. We played with them in Target the other day, they walked to each others houses, etc. Neat little toy. Looks like one they are really begging for, so I need to get it before they are sold out everywhere. *Ugh* My 6 year old also wants the Bratz Rock Angel stuff. Target has started clearancing some of it already. Just the accessories, like the bedroom, not the actual dolls. I have NO IDEA what I am getting my son, who will be 1 on friday.
By the way, here is one of the Pixel Chix

spends2much 10-20-2005, 11:31 AM I think the 20 questions is popular and my 12 year old son is asking for a GO game Anyone hear of his?
kryss 10-20-2005, 12:33 PM Well, my lil one is too young to ask for anything other than maaamaaa!!! LOL so what do you get a lil one who will be just over 6 months? Actually, she'll be ALMOST 7 months (Jan 3...) We already picked up a Leapfrog for her (the one for 6-36 months...) just not sure what else she'll 'want' as this is our first (and of course, it's also the first grandchild too...and great grandchild...)
Ahh...Christmas is too soon this year!!! Maybe we should skip this year and just save the money to spend on NEXT christmas??? LOL And we can't get anything big on BF because we'll be visiting family in California and I can't imagine that the airline will let us take too much extra on the plane without charging...

Baby Einstein videos are great !!! They are very educational and contain lots of bright colors that children love. They are for 0-3 years. I sit my daughter (who is severly disabled) in front of them and even she reacts to them!!
elena_398 10-20-2005, 1:11 PM You never had to buy tons for a little one at christmas. Just buy him/her a few baby toys and the video idea is great too! Save up for when they start asking for stuff!
simonalex 10-20-2005, 1:23 PM Can you suggest some toys for 3 yr old girl? My DD likes toys which can do things. She does not like things like doll etc which do not interact back. I think doodle bear would be a good one. Can anyone has has 3 yrs old can suggest me something.
Thanks
Simonalex
elena_398 10-20-2005, 1:24 PM The Aqua Draw mat is nice, Doodlebear, My first leappad. If she likes certain characters, Im sure fisher price or another toy brand will have it.

My DD will be 3.5 next month and she LOVES her LeapPad! That has been one of the best investments by far! She still plays with the My First LeapPad too since they have different books. Some things she has been asking for -Doodle Bear, Share A Story Carebear, My Little Pony: Good Morning Sunshine, anything Dora, Baby Annabell (cries, laughs, burps etc) and anything Barbie.

Play-doh and Play-doh sets. My younger daughter absolutely loved Play-doh from the time she was about 3 until age 6 or so. It's good for developing hand strength for writing later on.

What about some children's musical instruments? If you can stand the racket!! Nothing like music to nurture a childs creative thinking. Also I like the share a story Care Bear. My daughter is turning 3 this Sunday (YEAH-HAPPY B-DAY LEXI !!!) and I'm planning on getting it for her for X-MAS.

my niece (will be 3 a week after xmas lol) loves the little people and pop-onz stuff, anything spongebob or dora/diego. i picked up the dora candy land game using the BOGO offer online for her (and the dora chutes and ladders for my older niece - she'll be 5 next month). she also loves the elmo dolls, but they get annoying REAL fast lol.
