Last year on BF we went to Best Buy and it was the first and last time. It was a huge mess. It was the most unorginized place, rude and hateful people I have ever seen. I will not go back there again. We heard associataes tell people to get in lines for items and they would be in line for 30 minutes or and hour and find out it's the wrong line. No one knew what they where talking about. We asked if we could get some of the items since the sections was roped off - the guy said no you had to wait in the line and 10 minutes later him and another guy where passing out the blank dvd's to anyone who wanted to buy them. I know it would be hard to work BF, but they don't have to be so rude and/or ignorant.

MY first experience the year before was wonderful

The walmart here did not have the police there.
Did not have security roam the lines...
the employees were crabbing the minute we walked in.
the minute they unlocked the doors, people pushed an trampled. I saw an elderly couple that I desperately wanted to let in. BUT I knew the would get trampled.
And the first 10 people were rude as hell. They had been there since 1 am theyclaimed. They took turns going to the car...which is fine...BUT then at the last minute, they let 20 more people in line. People CLEARLY that took time to do hair and makeup. Prolly just woke from the look of it.

This time, I am going back to the old hunting grounds. Matteson. Where people are nice, and the lines are orderly and the employees kept people from rushing the line. The police were cool and sooo nice. PLUS in matteson, Target is next door, and the mall is across the street. And circuit city and best buy are within spitting distance. And kmart is across town. But thats fine. Cause I dont like them much anyhow.

LOL! Me, too. I'll shop at the one in Burlington (about 30 miles from here) if I'm in town there, but the one where I live is a huge mess all the time. Even on BF they don't open even half of their checkout lanes.

Office Max. Two years ago I did all the FARs, only to find that a lot of the forms weren't in the booklet they handed me at the store. I emailed, called and could never find at least 5 of the forms before the two week postmark date was up.

Then they rejected several of the rebates saying they weren't postmarked on time, and when I emailed about that I got one of the rudest emails I've ever received from their clearing house.

Wrote more emails, including PlanetFeedback. No response.

So I haven't shopped there since.

I boycott those bastards almost every day and I only go in when they have a CD/DVD newly released that I know they make almost ZERO margin on...like most new releases hoping to get people in the store to sell them a CD/DVD player...yes that's their logic. They as a company are disorganized and actually promote the behavior you witnessed. But that's another story for another time...

I hate the newly hired BF employees. The young ones who are rude and obnoxious. I just don't go to Best Buy on BF. One year my husband wanted this one DVD they had for really cheap. Anyway, I finally find a spot, get in and get the dvd. Check out was approx. 2 hours! The line wrapped around the store from appliances on one end of the store to computers on the other end. Only 4 registers open. How stupid is that. I put the DVD back and ended up buying it on ebay.

I won't go near Best Buy on BF. They have had the police there the past couple of years to keep the fights under control. Same for WallyWorld. No way. Rat Shack was next door to WallyWorld but they had like 2-3 of each advertised BF items and those were gone within 2 minutes of the doors opening. Staples was a huge mess last year and their rebate system was a catastrophe. I doubt I'll fight the battles at any of the above retailers this year -- it just isn't worth it !

Ace Hardware was the only place I got what was advertised and actually got the rebate $'s back in record time.

We'll see what the 2005 BF ads look like, but Ace and Lowes will be the first ads I look for.

I may try Staples.com very early on BF morning to grab up what can be ordered that doesn't involve a rebate.

In general, rebates have become more pain than they are worth --- and you know the retailers/manufacturers are counting on you forgetting to send them in, failing to meet some fine print requirement, or selectively "losing" your submission. Yeah, I was considering going dressed up as a wrestler along with my friend as Hulk Hogan and teasing the people waiting on Best Buy's line with catchphrases and other silly, non-sensical garbage. Maybe hand out flyers with stories about BB + BF along with BestBuySux.org stories to wake them up (or put them back to sleep).
I think the police would arrest me for inciting a riot, so that idea was put on the backburner...but it would make for an entertaining clip for a "Black Friday Gone Wild" video we can all sell to generate $ for GD consisting of BF sales gone completely wacky :)

Yes, he did fight it, but it took a call to the mfr pres's office to get his $'s. I believe he sent a letter to the FTC and his State Atty Gen too. Just a lot of hassle and BS to put up with for a rebate.

As it's gonna be my first BF, and I've never had bad experiences... I'll try to go to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, BrandsMart... and see which one is the worst!!! My aunt is insisting to go to BrandsMart, and if the ad has the stuff she wants... I guess I'll have no escape.

I'm with you both. I boycott Walmart every day. Of course my husband and my mom shop there, so my boycott doesn't do much, but I absolutely will not show up there on BF. No sale price is worth it.

the only store close to me is wal mart the others are 50 miles away and most of the time my mom doesn't have it in her to go that far and I dont have the heart to dump her :(

If there is a good deal I'm going what ever the store. I haven't really ever had any reason to boycot a store usually there are all pretty organized and friendly. Of course I live in upstate NY and people are usually very nice.

I was wondering the same thing...I love it there...lol but I live in a small town and have to drive to get to anystores..so no competition here.

Yeah, me too. Well, I just LOVE Walmart, it's always my first stop when I arrive in the USA. But I don't know, I am a foreigner, so things there always seem better to me. There's just one Walmart store here in Rio de Janeiro, and I guess it's the only one in Brazil. Walmart here sucks big time, as it's as expensive as the other stores...

But, every year on BF there is this horrid old HAG who comes to the register WHEREVER I am in line. She has to be Satan's Mommy, lol, she is the rudest creature I have ever encountered. That's the only day of the year that I see her, I think she works in one of the offices and just checks on that day. She has been there for over 30 years so the managers ignore how rude she is. However, this year I have decided that if she gets in my line, I will give her a piece of my mind no matter how long it holds up the line!!!:fryingpan

I won't go to Kmart this year on BF. Last year I ended up calling the customer service lady a B@<hidden>#$%. Then she and the toy manager had it out in front of the entire store on BF. She was on a power trip and I proved to her the "The customer is ALWAYS right." I loved every second of it too.

I do get irritated because our Wal-Mart is open 24 hours and they tend to get really upset because some of us get there about 3:00 am. If we are not being loud, rude, or disruptive, I think they should just be happy that people are still wanting to shop there on BF even if they are the rudest bunch on that day.

Walmart-because the employees end up getting half of the bf stash before you are even let in, and Best Buy because they usually carry such a small number of the item listed that you don't have a chance in Hades of getting it. I normally shop at both of these places, but not on BF.

Best Buy as well. Two years ago we purchased a new C.D. player from them. When we got it home the turn table would not work. I took it back and there weren't anymore at the store for an exchange. I didn't want a store credit because I didn't need anything else. I just wanted my $ back to get a new C.D. Player. Instead the offered to return it with a RESTOCKING FEE! It was only ONE day after we purchased it and it wasn't our fault to stupid thing was defictive. Ever since then I won't go back to best buy for anything!

Best buy but I don't go there at all anyway. I've never walked in there and had a good experiance. Plus I am a bargain shopper and I won't shop someplace that boycotts and black balls bargain shoppers. I mean I understand its "good" business practice but I don't have to give them my money I won't.

Like a lot people here, I boycott Wal-Mart on a regular basis :curse:, so obviously they won't get any of my money on BF. I would rather :banghead: than shop at Wal-Mart. I won't be boycotting any other stores, so bring on the shopping :gd_purple.

Target. I've never, ever encountered such rude and ignorant customer service as I did with their online store. Should have learned my lesson the first time it happened and definitely did the second time. I'm always very polite when writing a complaint so I was stunned by the snide and surly responses to my inquiries. That was five or six years ago and Target has been on my no-shopping list ever since.

Technically..... but its easy to do and it really depends on the store. I know and have known quite a few employees that do and I'll admit I did it also when I worked there. I've met wal-mart employees from a few different states, and some could get away with it and some couldn't, we were told not to but sometimes it pays to be a rebel, and on black friday, sometimes you have to be a rebel. Of course in montana we don't have problems or issues with security or police or anything like that so black friday usually goes pretty smoothly. You just have to deal with the rude people that are usually running on no sleep.

Best Buy is always banned in my book. Their return policy of a 15% restocking fee is a shady way of doing buisness. One of which I will have no part of. So, I give my hard earned money to a place that actually has decent customer service and knows how to respect people. :nahnah:

Best Buy only has a restocking fee on certain items (like computers, digital cameras, radar detectors). Or if there's stuff missing. And they shouldn't charge a restocking fee if it's defective. I actually think BB has a better return policy than other stores, like CompUSA. While I'm not technically boycotting Comp, I don't shop there. Mostly because of their restocking fee. But also because I worked there for a month and quit right before my shift last BF because I couldn't stomach the way our new sales manager wanted us to rip the customers off.
