I usually am in line by 1-2am at the absolute latest. Where I live, you aren't there at that time, you will be 40-50th in line. I live around TONS of die hards on BF.

woohoo, first voter! :)

i'm usually in line around 4-5pm, depending on the store opening time. since i am always by myself, i just picked one store that i really wanted the most things from and make sure that i'm near the front of the line so i can get in, get my stuff and get out of there quickly.

2 years ago I went out shopping and we got in line at 5am. Best Buy and Dick's Sporting Goods are in the same area, so we split up (2&2) and got everything we were all shopping for. We we #16 & 17 in line at Best Buy and my wife and her sister were 5&6 at Dick's.

in madison there is no way you can get that small of a number at 5am at best buy and officemax. those two places are packed very early. that's actually one of the reasons why i don't go to BB again on BF, i'm just going to waste a lot of my time in line (in the cold too) while i could have gone in and out other stores and got what i wanted.

Usually arrive around 4am, depending on the time of the sale.

This year I'm looking for a really good buy on a new computer. I'd camp out if the price is right... lol

That won't happen anymore. I like to leave about 1/2 hour early for work on BF just to drive by the stores and see how many people are lined up. Last year I drove by BB at 5:30am, and the line was well winding through the parking lot. I'm guessing there were around 200 people there waiting to get in.

I think your fellow BF shoppers would agree. If the price is right, a few extra hours in line is worth the sacrifice.

Just imagine if there is a desktop PC with monitor for $99 or laptop for $199.

Last year I got to Sears at 4 am and I was the first person there. There were maybe 10 people outside Best Buy when I drove past. Nobody really started showing up till around 5 am.

I normally there between 4-5 am. If you go to the 24 hour supercenter then no lines. just find the stuff and wait to ck out.

I usually arrive around 3:30 or 4. The malls are pretty crowded around here, although for the last 2 years we have been going to one that is kinda out of the way, so its a little less crowded, and has all other stores within 10 minutes.

Im always in line by 4:40. Unfortunately, so is everyone else around here. Kmart always has the longest lines at that time. People get really mean at that time of morning when they want something cheap. Ive had people actually try and jerk things out of my hand! About that time the monster comes out in me. I can kick and jerk as good as the next one!!!:fryingpan

Used to be in line at 430 when we had a KB.... now the earliest store opens at 6am, unless I want something at BB I can get in line at about 5

I am NOT a morning person so I refuse to get up before 4am. It works out fairly well as most of the family is satisfied to be at the store at 5am. Hopefully most deals will be the same price and free shipping on the web then I won't have to go freeze my buns and nose off. My husband wants a huge theater TV. He will get up early for that 4 sure.

Longest drive I ever have to make is about 20 minutes (it pays to live in a big, commercial city). There's virtually every big BF store within that radius (though I don't have a CostCo or Fry's).

I think this year, 3 at the latest at the Matteson IL Walmart. depending on the sales.... I've found in the last year or so, that most places you can go 30 minutes max past opening and still get deals...for big ticket? Like me this year,. CAMPING out. Period...

I'll definetely camp out!!! As I'll have to drive from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale to shop at BrandsMart, I'll leave Orlando around 9-10 PM, to arrive there between 1 and 2 AM. Maybe then I'll be able to go to a second store and get more deals...:gd_devild

Yeah, and my aunt wants to drive around the area to know the location of Walmart and Walgreens, so that we can try to go there too. We've never been to Ft Lauderdale, so we are afraid of getting lost and end up wasting precious time.

That is a great idea for 2 reasons:
1) You're unfamiliar with the roads, entrances/exits, store locations and parking.
2) When you get in line early in the morning it will be DARK so it's better to scout before BF arrives.

Smart thinking :)

I'm not far from Ft Lauderdale and if it's similar there like it is here there's a Walgreens on every corner. And a CVS on the opposite corner.

I haven't been or Sawgrass Mills yet. hmmm might have to check it out. I was going to check out the 2 level Target, as soon as I remember where I saw it. (It was either Boca Raton or Deerfield Beach, I know that much, and it was on US1).

There is a Target at Sawgrass Mills, 2 Walgreens nearby, and a Walmart almost inside Sawgrass Mills. I've searched online!

I live in the middle of nowhere and last year there was still Wal Mart stuff at 10 am at the little wal mart--but this year they closed that one and built another Supercenter, so between now and then I have to familiarize myself with it's layout as compared to mine. It's closer to Target, staples, kohl's and on the way to BB and Circuit City.

Last year I got in line before 4am at best buy and there were more than 60 or 70 people in front of me. When vouchers were handed out, the top items were already gone by my time (including the laptop)

thank goodness somebody next to me in line had a wife at office max who said they only had 10 people in line. I went over, got a voucher for the laptop, went back to bet buy, and was just in time to get into the store (and the nice people around me let me back into my good place in line, since by then i'd say there were 1000 people in line).

Last year I got to Sears at 4 am and I was the first person there. There were maybe 10 people outside Best Buy when I drove past. Nobody really started showing up till around 5 am.

Should have hit the PX $25 gift card for the first 100 in the door plus an additional 10% off coupon for any one item first hour. No one else had cash door busters lol so the few hours in line were worth the cash plus 10% plus already cheap deals tax free. Can you tell I'm trying to get you to come with lol. Last year (here in Roanoke, VA) - I got to Best Buy at like 4:45 - there was a line out into the parking lot waiting for the doors to open. They opened at 5 and my 10 min. after 5 the wait to check out was 2 1/2 hrs. long!!! I was a very naughty girl and hid the 2 DVD's I was getting under a rack in the office furniture area and came back that evening and got them. Normally I would have just toughed it out, but I had to pick up my shopping buddy at her house at 5:30 - and I don't think she would have been too pleased had I shown up at like 8...lol.

I usually am out and headed to my first destination by 4:30 at the latest.

Usually between 4 - 5 for me. The last couple of years we did it a bit different. My husband's sister was with us as well as my oldest daughter. We shopped in Indiana BF 2003 and we went to a plaza area that had Penneys, Kohls, Old Navy, Target, Wal-Mart, Bath and Body Works, etc. and panned out, got what we needed and headed and headed off to the other stores. My husband was the first to get to Best Buy. Ours did it weird. A different line for different things. He did the main line for things like DVD's etc. and his sister and I got in line for her to get a computer for their dad. We did great that year, and got a lot accomplished in a short amount of time.

Last year we were in Ky. So drove over the border to Huntington WV and things are scattered. Took us longer, but got what we set out for. Had to wake up at 3:30am for that one.

It gets worst every year here at best buy, was there at 4am last year and already over 50 people in line. By the time it was ready to open I'd say there were close to 1000 people in line about 1/4 mile long going around and out of the whole shopping center, lots of die hards here and in a tech savvy market. If best buy runs deals I need, I'll be there 3-4am, if sears or jc penney runs some jewelry stuff for the misses at insane rates, I'll be there.

My mom and I go every year and usually get to Shopko by 4:30 - 5:00am. They used to have the best deals plus free stuff. Last year the stores around here didn't have much that we wanted for early bird, so we were able to sleep in an extra hour. We will never go to Best Buy again because we had to wait in line for over 2 hours to check out. Pretty ridiculous. All of the other stores aren't that bad. We usually finish about 9am and by then the stores are really getting packed. Always have to get to JCPenney's for my free snowglobe every year. Pretty anxious to see what Shopko, Target, and Fleet Farm have this year for early bird specials.

This is my first black friday. I know someone who works at wal-mart and plan on getting the inside info, such as how many lappies they will have at the supercenter where I'm going... ideally I'd like to get there at 1-2AM and have the store OPEN so I don't have to wait outside. I remember just a few years ago I arrived at Best Buy at 4 AM and was the first there. Last year I got there at 4:30 AM and there were 40 people already there. Good thing I didn't want the laptop! With Best Buy opening at 5 AM this year I will have to get in line after shopping at CompUSA. Don't see any point in driving home as I live 41 miles from Killeen, TX. OMG. At any best buy in GA, you would have THOUSANDS of people in line by 4:30am! Even Sears last year had several hundred by 5:00! I wish I lived where ther wasnt huge crowds!

Last year, My mother in law, sister in law, sister, mom and myself all got in line at around 11:30 at night at Best Buy. We stayed in the car and took turns sleeping to watch the lines. As soon as another person pulled up we hopped out of the car and started sleeping on the sidewalk. (At least we got to stay warm in the car til about 1 am). We were the first people in line and got the only computers that werent required to be updated. (We got the best deals and we each got one.) Were planning on going around the same time again but this year and we'll send two people over to comp usa at midnight and than TRY to save their spot in line. This year should be interesting.

I'll hit Walmart aroung 3am. Get all my price match stuff, things on the general list and then get in the pallet line. Most of my price matches are from Target so I'll hide out in the magazine section untill about 5:45, get in line and then try to sweep the mall(B&BW, Penneys and Sears). I've thought about this waaaay too much!

Lat year we were at Office Depot at like 5:30 and were within the first 10 people. This year I am not sure when I need to get in line. Maybe you guys could help me figure that out. I want to try for the desktop at Best Buy. This is our first year with Best Buy and we live close to a semi-small city. MOST of the time people go to the mall and Wal-Mart. What are the odds of most of them heading towards Best Buy this year? What time do I need to get started this year in your opinion?

Yeah - I'm gonna be outside CompUSA at closing, (sit in the car, using a laptop, and Starbucks wifi) until there are 10 people lined up ... once I've been through CompUSA (about 12:30) I'll head over to BB to repeat ...

Hopefully, I shouldn't burn TOO much gas sitting with the engine going :-D

This is my first BF, but after being on this board for a week or so, I realize the earlier the better for getting the items. Even if I wait in the car until people start arriving, I will be at Target for the GameBoy Sps by 2am. Once I see someone pulling in, I'll get out to form the line

Last year we left Hot Springs at 2:30 am to drive to Little Rock. Dropped by daughter-in-law off at Toys r us drove past Best Buy where there was line of about 15 people and went to Target where there was no line until I started it. So this year with the computers that are on sale at Best Buy I think that we will leave at midnight for our 1 hour drive to Little Rock.Good luck everyone!

I'm willing to spend 6-7 hours in line at BB......for a pair of laptops and pair of desktops (fair profit margin on them.) We should be arriving at BB at 9:30-10PM Thanksgiving night.

Selling 3 of the four computers from BB (both desktops and one laptop) will pay for the second laptop and its memory upgrade completely, giving us a free laptop. A larger battery will be financed by two auction sales next week (Thanksgiving Day auction and the following Saturday's antique auction sale.)

Score another couple of "reject" used computers (these bring nice $$ at auction after doing what is needed to get 'em running....tons of spares in the house, so basically just time invested, if any repairs actually needed) at the Junior League's Attic Sale this weekend (they sell castoffs/donations from local businesses, individuals, etc., and almost all they sell does indeed work), and a new battery is on its way with almost no money invested. I've bought P4 computers there over the last few years for an average of $20/ea....these are older models like 1.5GHz cpus, but they consistently bring well over $100-$120 at auction.

Wow Dalerider! I'm impressed! That's a great plan! Do you mean sell on ebay? U must be a whiz w/ computers!! I'll be like you, although everyone thinks I'm crazy. I'm going to BB at 10pm, manbe a little earlier I'm paranoid. And like "illusion" all I'll have is a chair, blanket and a book or small tv. I can do it! Camping out at WM on Monday for Xbox 360 will be practice. The longest I've ever done for BF is camping out for 5 hours. 7 is going to be different, but I have to get the laptops, desktops, etc.

Another issue I have is that I live in one city ( that doesn't have a mall or TRU) and traveling about 30-45 mins. away ( it has a WM, Target, mall, & TRU) should I go to that WM and if so what time should I get there? After I get done with BB, I have go to work until 11pm. Looking at a 17 hour work day on top of no sleep with BF crowds. :D

im also looking to price match on the bb dvds, & for the little people sets, plus the dual-screen (in-car) dvd player & care bear...should i be going earlier?

I think I would if I were you, well depending where you are. Where are you shopping this year? I am going so early because I have to get a lot in my cart before getting in line and I know that the little people and care bears are going fast! I called my wm to see how busy they get, you might want to do that too. One said people start getting there at midnight and another said 3! lol I think I eill take the chance that there will be people there at midnight and if not I can always put stuff on layaway and go sit in my car Or I can hop into my cart and play tetris on my game boy!

Probably try to be at BB by 2:30 - no later than 3:00. Guy at BB tonight said if I want some of the big ticket items I had better be there by 3:45. Another one said when he comes in at 4:30 the line is at the other end of the shopping center, so guess I better go to bed early!:tired:

I had to do the after thanksgiving dinner because my time wasn't an option. I got into line at 10 pm but was planning on getting in line at 12 am. I did a drive by and thought I had better stay. Good thing I did because at 12 I would have been the 50th in line.

Got back to my daughters house about 9 P.M. Thanksgiving night and checked out the message board. Seen where there was already 25 in line at some Best Buy in California, so being from Missouri, we hightailed to our Best Buy arriving at 9:40, #46 & #47 in line (before cutters). We ended up with three of the $149 emachines----one which the upgraded to a much better one, because when we went back they had already sold it; a Kodak C360 Digital Camera, MP3 Player, 512 Scan Disc for the camera, and the 14.99 router/wireless kit. Didn't get a laptop, they only had 14.
