View Full Version : Is it Black Friday yet lol
Am I the only weirdo that just can't wait. I have been stashing my cash away and have 2 XBOX 360's I preordered the day they started taking preorders. I will flip them on ebay and the profit will be black friday money :gd_not_ri Just seeing if I'm the only one that can't wait for the lists and its still months away lol

If I had it my way, the next 4 weeks would be gone in the blink of an eye.
outnumbered 9-8-2005, 1:33 AM With the deployment, there'll be nobody here to stay with the kids while I go from store to store...so I don't get to go out on BF. :( So I'm much less excited this year than I was last year. Online BF is not the same as waiting out in the cold LOL. You'd think being home would be better but I miss the experience.

Take them with you and play the trick "hey do you think xxx cousin will like this?"
My mom did that to me once. What a good idea that was.

Um, I don't think waiting outside a store at 4 am in 15 degree weather with kids ages 5, 3 and 1 is such a great idea. I don't think having them inside the store with everyone pushing and shoving is such a great idea either.

They will be. Don't worry.
There isn't enough time in the day it seems.

what happens after 4 weeks?
RossMAN 9-8-2005, 10:38 AM what happens after 4 weeks?
That's when the Black Friday buzz picks up and we'll have a few thousand new forum members :)
Frieked 9-8-2005, 10:40 AM I actually dread black friday... My significant other works in a mall... and black friday means the start of her working late every day until after the holiday season is over.
Keebelf 9-8-2005, 11:22 AM Chris couldn't get off that day.....one of the other ladies in his trailer beat him to it.
We are hopeing though, that if the deals are really good, we can do the same thing we did last year and that was get everything a couple of days before and just keep the recipts and then go back BF morning and go straight to the service desk and get the money back that we would have saved. It took him a LOT less time doing it that way last year.
I can't wait for BF. If the deals are signigicant, I'll bust my butt and work 10 extra hours M-W, so I can have Friday off. If I can get what I want online, then I'll just go into work and get my BF shopping done there.
i-bystander 9-8-2005, 11:51 AM 78 days to go... are you ready? :)
SueInCali 9-8-2005, 11:59 AM I have a fistfull of cash in one hand and a fistfull of credit cards in the other!
Let me at 'em! :wife:
Debbie- I scored some good deals online last BF. Chin up! :D
RossMAN 9-8-2005, 12:00 PM 78 days to go... are you ready? :)
I'm a little nervous because this year I'd really like a brand name 32 - 37" DLP/LCD/Plasma HDTV for $999 or less.

What size, type and budget?
I'm torn between a larger DLP 42" to sit in our livingroom (which we rarely use) or a smaller 32" LCD or Plasma in the bedroom in front of the bed.

if there's a sweet deal on a 42" flat panel TV, I might go for it. Otherwise, I'm sleeping in!

your decision will probably be made by the deals that they roll out. IMO a smaller one (less $) is better bec in a couple years you're going to want a newer, better one anyway

Agreed and I've actually seen the Syntax Olevia LT30HV 30" LCD TV for $777 (http://gottadeal.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=2950406) at Fry's B&M.
If they offer this again at that price, I'll probably buy it. In a few years I can upgrade to a behemoth DLP 1080p.
http://ai.pricegrabber.com/product_images/2950000-2950999/2950406_640.jpg
Description: The Syntax-Olevia features a 30" LCD Active Screen with an Aspect Ratio of 16:9, Brightness 500cd / m2, Contrast 750:1 and a Resolution of 1280(H) x 768(V), leading to a good image quality. It comes with 2 removable speakers each producing a 10W output. Additionally, it features the following: a TV / Video Switch, Channel Return, MTS, PIP / POP3 / Split Screen / Grid, Aspect Ratio Adjustment; Clock, Alarm, Sleep Timer, Favorite Channel Setting, V-chip, Close Caption.
What's the count now?

Well we know you are working hard, and we are grateful. :coffeetim
I'm not sure if I'm gonna go this year. It'll depend on who goes, and what they have. LCD monitor is what I want this year.

I got a 15" LCD two years ago for like $100 or something.

Great price. I'm looking for a 17"-19" LCD. Hopefully, it will be under $300.

I got a 19" LCD for $349 I believe. I would hope they will have some sub $300 ones this year.

For a BF deal, I would expect a 17" under $200 and a 19" at around $250 - $275. Actually, you may be able to get a Dell 1705FP by the end of Oct for around $200.

You don't have to wait until Black Friday for a good price on a 19" LCD under $300.
Just wait for another Dell deal like this (http://www.gottadeal.com/DirectDeal/9441) :guitarist

Right now, I don't have the money for it. By BF, I'll have enough. But I can always charge it.

How old are your kids? Lets ditch them all with my hubby and wait at the PX for the gift cards :)

YAY :gd_not_ri :gd_not_ri :gd_not_ri :gd_not_ri Ok hope all the people that didn't preorder the XBOX 360 $400 one will pay out the nose on ebay for it. I preordered 3. One for hubby 2 to sell. They claim after the november batch you won't be able to get them again till Febuary. So what I need to figure out is do I auction them at the launch for those that need it now and will pay big or will I do better with the last minute Christmas shoppers who can't get one. Maybe sell one at launch and one right before Christmas. Ahhh desisions desisions. Any thoughts on that one. My brother sold PS2's on ebay when they launched and got over $1000 a piece for them. The more I get the better Christmas will be this year :)

Start it on Dec 11, so it ends the 17th. That will probably be your best bet for selling at a price you like.
Personally, I'll probably wait until next BF or post-Christmas to buy a 360, because they will have dropped to a much more reasonable price.
Keebelf 9-8-2005, 11:01 PM don't forget to give yourself enough time to recuperate if you get a Non paying winner.....
Mara, Im going to do the same thing. Get my hands on as many Xbox 360s as I can.

DigDoug 9-9-2005, 12:20 PM IS xbox THAT hot??
I guess to parents who have to get their kids every little thing their heart desires, it is. You won't see me buying it at the initial release price let alone an inflated Ebay price (with or without kids).
IS xbox THAT hot??
I only hope so. People want the latest and greatest and they don't care how much it costs. Your a bad parent if you don't get your kid an Xbox 360 for xmas. LOL
Fine by me...I just want to get paid!
stingygrrl 9-9-2005, 12:43 PM Is Gamestop a good place to get all your hardware adn software for those things? (xbox, PSP, whatever). Is there some other shop that's better ?
They're all pretty much the same. Especially for something that is brand new...no one is going to have it for cheaper on launch day.
stingygrrl 9-9-2005, 1:06 PM nah I'm not buying or selling one, I just want to get some idea about the whole videogame thing and who's who
i-bystander 9-9-2005, 1:29 PM nah I'm not buying or selling one, I just want to get some idea about the whole videogame thing and who's who Gamestop and EBGames tend to have inflated prices. For new releases, Best Buy and the like would have them on sale for the first week it's out - after that, they revert to MSRP. Best bet would be local resale/used stores (not necessarily game stores), or Toys R' Us on clearance/close-out. :)

Its that hot to all you 20 something year old gamer's that aren't married and spend thier lives playing games as well. This system is suppose to be a hot item and as always they probably won't have enough to meet Christmas demand

From what I can tell they will be about impossible to get on launch day if you didn't preorder one. I preordered 2 at EB and one at Game Stop in July when they first started taking preorder's. Pray they sell for a bunch. I have to sell one before BF cause thats where my spending money is coming from lol

All the places you mentioned are taking preorder's even Walmart. If you didn't preorder one good luck getting one on the launch date. Next order should be in around Febuary. Then you might find deals but not on the first shipment I bet

elena_398 9-9-2005, 9:35 PM I hope walmart has tvs on sale again. Just need a basic cheapy. I have 4 tvs already, but my son wants one in his room. Pretty much for his game system. Im thinking 15" at least is fine. Nothing fancy. I just hate going to Walmart on Black Friday! I by-passed it last year. Just went to Kmart, Toys R Us, and Kay Bee.

Cheap TVs are one of the few things you can count on for BF. Pretty much every store that carries TVs will have the cheap 13", 19", etc...
