Brad, have you heard anything. I blew it on BF for Dell & the deals on there now make me sad. When does Cyber Monday officially start? TIA! :)

JeffPerk - i agree, if they have it cheaper I'll be pissed cos I too purchased one of the 1525s the other day

The first link Angelic680 has is actually $569 for the same model. The $519 actually has a different processor - just to clarify.

I was about to go nuts until I realized the processor was different! Phew! :tongue1:

No details yet. I'm guessing the sale will start after midnight PST tonight. And I don't expect the CM deals to be better than BF overall. There might be a few nice deals, but based on past years, CM seems to be mostly hype...

I would be happy if the deals were equal to BF. I was too busy at the B&M stores to realize what a good deal I was passing up. Thank you for the response :)

im debating on whether to get the $699 13 inch laptop or one of the 9 inch minis for $499, I want it for school, to mainly use at school as well. I wonder if this would run microsoft office without hoging the systems resources up.

You won't enjoy staring at a 9" screen for hours on end... Better plan on connecting a netbook to an external monitor (and an external full size keyboard) if you plan on using it to write papers and such.

Grab your nearest DVD hard plastic case. Take a good, long look at it. That is EXACTLY the size of the screen on an 8.9" Netbook (remember, it's 8.9" measured diagonally).

A 13" or 14" (or even a 15.4") laptop is much better for regular use.

im definetly leaning more towards the 13 inch, just like the price of the 9 inch better

There's nothing as expensive as buying something that doesn't fit your needs and then having to buy the right thing.

Does your laptop need to be a Dell? There are plenty of deals out there...

HP has a 15.4" laptop for $429.99 (today only, Cyber Monday):

Look at the list of free upgrades in the upper right... including free shipping.

I have the nine inch for school research on the campus with no computer lab,to let my kids play on and use for their cameras. I only use it for basic internet. I was forced to type a paper on it last week. I had to zoom in and use a wireless keyboard. So, I would buy the 13 and even I think that's small. lol I love my 17 in desktop replacement.

Edit: I definitely didn't pay anywhere close to that price for my baby laptop either.

i have a 17 inch laptop, and my hubby has a 15 inch, so i would do my papers mainly on the larger laptop, but do note taking and some of the research would be done on the 13 inch. I like the portability of the 13 inch due to books and it fitting nicely in my bag

Did you "customize" or was it one of the listed deals? I'm starting a small business with a friend and we need a cheap, but capable computer for the accounting/inventory, etc. We're going to run Windows, MS Office, and Quickbooks mainly, but we need it to have the burner drive, modem and card reader.

Too bad the desktop deals look poor today.. $349 for dual-core with no monitor :( Unless there are coupons floating around, I'll have to pass.

Ya, the 9in. you can't use for note taking. Even with my little hands I have a hard time typing anything on it. lol

Yes, I customized the 530 inspiron that starts at $349. I upgraded the processor to Core 2 Duo E7300 & upgraded the disc drive to: 16X DVD-ROM and 16X DVD+/-RW. It does not come with a monitor, but I didn't one.

I didn't do the modem because I have FIOS & I didn't do the card reader because I have one on my printer & my laptop. The $349 one comes with a dual core processor & 4G of ram, you'd probably be fine adding a modem & the card reader. I am definitely no expert. My computers are mostly just for my entertainment. GL
