View Full Version : Toro Electric 1800 Power Curve Snowthrower - $15.99 ($299.99) 95% Off @ Target
noehlp 11-16-2008, 7:08 PM I don't know if this is clearance or price malfunction, lol. But looks like a SUPER deal! Of course, with deals like this, order w/caution, and know that the order could get canceled. Good luck!
Order through Target, not the Amazon option.
Toro Electric 1800 Power Curve Snowthrower - No. 51598 (http://www.target.com/Toro-Electric-Power-Curve-Snowthrower/dp/B00005OQMG/sr=1-1/qid=1226878830/ref=sr_1_1/601-2674086-3616101?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3ATORO%20SNOWBLOWER&page=1&AFID=Performics_**Slick%20Deals**&LNM=Primary)
Now $15.99 Was $299.99 (that's 95% Off if you are wondering)
Should be $41.79 After Shipping

neile457 11-16-2008, 7:09 PM man if it snowed here in the New Orleans area, I'd jump on this :)
ashemgra 11-16-2008, 7:23 PM I wonder if it will be canceled due to pricing error? I have had that happen 3 times the past week!!!!!
Morriti 11-16-2008, 7:24 PM Thanks Noehlp! I gave it a shot. I bought the smaller version for my FIL last Christmas and paid $100. Target charged an enormous $25 for shipping, but it is still a great deal at $43!
noehlp 11-16-2008, 7:27 PM I wonder if it will be canceled due to pricing error? I have had that happen 3 times the past week!!!!!
There is a chance that it could be. But also a chance it won't be. I am no help there.
Personally if I had the money to play, I'd play.
allshoppedout 11-16-2008, 7:29 PM Wow Noehlp if this deal goes through, I may have to ship you some candy in IOWA.
I am so excited about this, my parents are elderly and they still insist on shoveling and every bad storm we have I worry they are going to have a heart attack. They don't want to buy a snowblower--or get one as a gift either. This should be something they can handle.
I am praying :angel1: that this TAKES!!!
Great Dane Mom 11-16-2008, 7:29 PM I hope this goes through. I ordered 3. 2 for gifts and 1 for me. I'm certainly not going to pitch a fit if it gets cancelled.
allshoppedout 11-16-2008, 7:31 PM I wonder if it will be canceled due to pricing error? I have had that happen 3 times the past week!!!!!
In your experience, do you usually hear right away if something is cancelled??
steph3306 11-16-2008, 7:32 PM Our total was 43.oo. my husband saw this and said to buy it!! He never buys anything...
allshoppedout 11-16-2008, 7:33 PM I already got a THANK YOU FOR YOUR ORDER EMAIL :D
plmarquis 11-16-2008, 7:33 PM OMG, great find. Wouldn't that be something if they do ship it? I just put an order in for my mom.
noehlp 11-16-2008, 7:34 PM Don't count your cookies until you get a shipping confirmation, though.
Not trying to put a downer on a deal, but, be happy, but not overly. lol
noehlp 11-16-2008, 7:35 PM In your experience, do you usually hear right away if something is cancelled??
I would say that if they are gonna cancel, you'd see something probably by mid morning or noon tomorrow.
And another thing, some orders may get through, while others get canceled.
ukdebc 11-16-2008, 7:36 PM I figured that this is worth a shot.... so now I will wait for the cancellation :)
$43 with tax and shipping - pretty sweet deal...
so I went ahead and ordered the same items through Amazon using Target as the seller too....
just in case one has more sticking power than the other! I figure that when (Big IF) I get the ship confirmation from one I will cancel the other - or just give a really good christmas gift to a friend...
deelite 11-16-2008, 7:36 PM Got to be a mistake!! Probably supposed to be $159.99..but hey..I still bought one. LOL...fingers crossed! :crossfing
Thanks noehlp! :fluffy:
Crue2001 11-16-2008, 7:36 PM Yes, the shipping is in the $25 range...any free shipping codes for Target out there? lol I know, it's a steal even with the shipping (it's running over $200 on Amazon.com), but I'm super cheap now that I don't have a job! :yup:
allshoppedout 11-16-2008, 7:37 PM Thanks again noehlp -Oh I won't flip if I don't get it but for now I am crossing my fingers and toes...
EMColeman1 11-16-2008, 7:41 PM Thank you! What a great find if they don't cancel it. :clapping:
happygirl326 11-16-2008, 7:41 PM Thanks so much Patty! I went ahead and put in an order. Hopefully it wont get cancelled. This will be the perfect gift for my FIL.
noehlp 11-16-2008, 7:44 PM I guess you can also order this through Amazon, but as Target as the seller.
Go here: http://www.amazon.com/Toro-18-Inch-Electric-Thrower-38025/dp/B00005OQMG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1226882598&sr=8-1
And then on the right side, click for Target as the seller.
I personally don't know which way would be better.
ilikefree 11-16-2008, 7:48 PM Just ordered one of these for dh. I showed it to him to see what he thought of it...surprise, dear, here's your Christmas present! He seemed to think it was good for the price...all the reviews for it were good ones. The only thing...I hope we don't get snow before it gets here. It's not scheduled to ship till December 15-29. Anyway, thanks for the great post!
noehlp 11-16-2008, 7:51 PM Just noticed this on Target's site: Item arriving in 2 to 6 weeks.
Not sure if that matters to most of ya, but if it does, sorry.
lmitchem 11-16-2008, 7:51 PM :)We get plenty of snow here...as a matter of fact its snowing now. Thanks so much for sharing this! Hopefully we will all get lucky.
mzannetti 11-16-2008, 8:01 PM buy this snow thrower with the car seat. then the shipping only cost like $21.
sell the car seats on ebay unopened for $100 and it will pay for itself.
if the deal goes through.
Oh my goodness I hope this works. My parents could really use this and there is no way I could actually afford to get it at regular price.
Thanks :)
CarpeDiem 11-16-2008, 8:06 PM hopefully it wont!
Crue2001 11-16-2008, 8:06 PM I tried to add to cart from Amazon with Target as the seller, hoping somehow my Prime membership would work (I knew it wouldn't but I was hoping anyways :o), but the price comes out the same as if I just ordered it from Target directly. So, cheap as I am, I ordered it. :D Thanks for the post & here's hoping they don't start cancelling the orders!
KBsDarling 11-16-2008, 8:08 PM i tried it as well...what the heck...had it been an iffy retailer i would worry but dont think Target is looking to gather CC numbers and take off for Aruba
Would LOVE for some miracle to happen and have it for christmas but if not....He gets a picture of it in a box :P
nindy8 11-16-2008, 8:11 PM I think it's funny that the snow blower cover is 29.99, more than the blower itself.
amiller17 11-16-2008, 8:12 PM Got mine ordered and am praying it goes through. If not they will get a piece of my mind, even if I only have a little of my mind left!
ukdebc 11-16-2008, 8:14 PM just went to see what Targets price policy was.... if you are interested - here it is
"Confirmed Prices
We cannot confirm the price of an item until your order enters the shipping process nor will we charge your credit card until your order enters the shipping process. (Please note that your Order Acknowledgement means that your order request has been received; it does not mean that your order has been shipped or that the price of an item has been confirmed.)
Mispriced Items
Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items on our Web site may be mispriced. Rest assured, however, that we verify prices as part of our shipping procedures.
* If an item's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and ship you the item.
* If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation."
Rest Assured, (my emphasis) why would I worry about them adjusting the price downwards?
UGGHH.....that doesn't sound so good! Well, we will see, you win some, you lose some!
Jen
dmmiller 11-16-2008, 8:28 PM put an order in just in case. :)

KBsDarling 11-16-2008, 8:52 PM how in the world did you find that? I'm wondering what other hidden gems Target has on here tonight... ordered one of the carseats already.

ashemgra 11-16-2008, 9:07 PM quick question....when does target charge your credit card? I went on to make sure it was pending and no charge from target!!! So do they not charge until they ship?
herculesmomma 11-16-2008, 9:30 PM Dear Lord I was looking at paying 300 to 400 to buy a new one, so with tough times here in Michigan I sooooo hope this goes through!!!!!!!

vsa3janes 11-16-2008, 10:18 PM "Not in stock; order now and we'll deliver when available" this is the message I received when I placed it in my cart through Amazon.
Tried through Target and rcvd this message "Item arriving in 2 to 6 weeks. Order now."
Did anyone else's order say it was available now?
Jojo0612 11-16-2008, 10:27 PM Just placed an order through Amazon...I'm sure it will be cancelled, but well worth a shot!
ashemgra 11-16-2008, 10:28 PM My email said it will ship Dec 15th and arrive Dec 18-Jan 6th....fingers crossed!

herculesmomma 11-16-2008, 10:32 PM I get an "we're sorry" page after clicking the link
Type in snow thrower in the search field and when it comes up, don't click on the link just add it to your cart.
This was how my Mom was able to get an order in. ;)
clarklc34 11-16-2008, 10:32 PM still available even when you get the "we're sorry" page. just type snow in the search box and look in the lawn and garden listings. it's still listed there for 15.99

miller205 11-16-2008, 10:37 PM Ugh, we don't need this OR the car seat!! Wish I did just bc it is such a good deal. DH says we don't know anyone who needs one either. Darn...I hope you guys all get yours though.

justplainbeth 11-16-2008, 10:48 PM darn.. I must've missed it, because even a snow search doesn't show it up .. nor an Amazon search with a Target seller.
allshoppedout 11-16-2008, 10:51 PM I decided to try clicking on it-and it says Out Of Stock ...

noehlp 11-16-2008, 10:59 PM Moving this thread to Dead Deal Forum. You guys will have to update when you get shipping notices, and when it arrives. (or cancel notices, but trying to stay positive for ya)

eicats77 11-17-2008, 3:40 PM I ordered one and got the email conformation but where do you look under your account on the target website as I can't find mine. TIA
herculesmomma 11-17-2008, 3:49 PM My order confirmation e-mail stated that it wasn't due to ship until December 15th, so I assumed it would be a while before we got a cancellation, no?
KBsDarling 11-17-2008, 3:58 PM I wouldnt breathe a sigh of relief until the 15th BUT in my past experience typically they JUMP on it when it was a pricing booboo and letters come out within the first 24-48 hours. Rarely had one go over that and then get canceled
o and I am getting to see my listed orders by clicking on the order # in the email
https://www.target.com/gp/css/history/view.html/ref=in_my_homepage-order-list-links/185-6795671-8695556?ie=UTF8&link=track&orderFilter=days-30 may work???
KBsDarling 11-17-2008, 4:03 PM hmmm and the 24 hr things appears to have held cause from the time i posted I was ok to when i logged in to get the direction to tell eicats how to look my order has poofed and is no longer listed
and no letter of explanation
We all knew it was fairly bad odds tog o through. So hardly upset over that. Just detest when they erase it from acct and think if they dont say anything we will "forget" we placed a 40$ order
deelite 11-17-2008, 4:09 PM hmmm and the 24 hr things appears to have held cause from the time i posted I was ok to when i logged in to get the direction to tell eicats how to look my order has poofed and is no longer listed

Mine is still showing up. I am rethinking if I should have done express shipping instead...lol! Still watching and waiting. :fluffy:
jennwdw 11-17-2008, 4:11 PM FWIW - I clicked on the order # from my confirmation email and it now says "This order has been cancelled"
I don't normally post but I do jump on deals when I see them and can use them. I was hopeful about this but no such luck :(
batojefe 11-17-2008, 4:20 PM yep, mine was cancelled too... bummer, although i didn't get too excited about it.
Finnegan 11-17-2008, 4:54 PM I tracked my order and it too is listed as "cancelled". It would have been nice of them to at least have sent an email to this effect. It took me about 10 minutes just to find the cancelled info.
Oh well... in the words of my dear dad, "There is no such thing as a free lunch"
ukdebc 11-17-2008, 5:26 PM I just checked
Target doesn't list the order at all in my account - the link from the email confirmation does say that the order was cancelled..
(really irritating that there is no notification about cancelling an order - even though I expected the cancellation)
The Amazon order (with Target as the vendor) still shows the order as valid
"Items not yet shipped:
We'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item. It will ship separately. You can cancel at any time. "
guess it is just a matter of time....
EMColeman1 11-17-2008, 5:35 PM Just checked my order on the website:
Important Messages
This order has been cancelled.
:gdangry3:
starshadow 11-17-2008, 5:50 PM Mine was canceled too - which is what I expected - however, I think they should have at least sent an e-mail telling us.
EMColeman1 11-17-2008, 6:07 PM We should have printed the page and went to Home Depot for a price match. :p
allshoppedout 11-17-2008, 6:07 PM Ok I never had an order cancelled....from anywhere...
I looked at Target site can't find anything at all. There is no cancel there, but there is no order showing up either?? :( What is that about.
An email should have been sent apologizing for their mistake, saying we are credited, and informing us it was cancelled....
So now it is up to me to keep checking back to make sure they didn't charge me anything for this?
herculesmomma 11-17-2008, 6:19 PM Wow, seems sort of a sneaky way to cancel an order. You would think you would at least get a reason when you logged into your account.
Count me in on one of the folks whose order was cancelled. :(
nindy8 11-17-2008, 6:26 PM I received the dreaded letter :yuck:
Greetings from Target.com.

tracyinkc 11-17-2008, 6:28 PM My order for the snowblower was cancelled so I called the customer service number. They are cancelling all of the snowblower and car seat items (they said 3 total) and will be sending out cancellation emails in the order they were ordered soon.
elena_398 11-17-2008, 6:28 PM Never received any notification, but my order is gone. So nice of them to let me know. I sent them a letter. Not nasty, but letting them know that if a mistake was made in store then it would have been honored. At least in my experience.

starshadow 11-17-2008, 7:08 PM I'm trying to recall from my business law class...but I too thought it was a law that they had to honor prices items were marked at. Don't hold me to that, it's been a little while...
pianoman 11-17-2008, 7:10 PM Them scrooges cancelled my order. Don't they know I found that deal on "Gotta Deal" so it has to be right.
herculesmomma 11-17-2008, 7:15 PM I finally got the same dreaded e-mail as well.
I think because their website has that stipulation that they have the right to cancel any order that they deem is incorrectly priced protects them having to honor the price.
I don't think it's true of in store prices simply because state laws govern that policy. But I think the internet stores are a different story and may not be governed by any state law.
But I don't know for sure. This is just speculation on my part based upon their agreement posted on their website & copied into a message earlier in this thread.
starshadow 11-17-2008, 7:22 PM I think you're correct herculesmomma - because they had that statement posted about occasionally mis-pricing things, they are protected... Doesn't seem right, but I believe what they did is considered legal.
allshoppedout 11-17-2008, 7:28 PM Got the email--enough said. :(
Which brings me to this question.--it seemed like everyone on this thread knew someone who needed one of these.... and i really wanted it for my folks who are older.
HAS ANYONE SEEN A DECENT DEAL ON ONE OF THESE SNOW THROWERS?
Either in BF ads or on sale now??
My folks couldn't manage a full size snow blower, nor do they need one. So I am still looking for this item...
plmarquis 11-17-2008, 7:47 PM Got the letter too. :yuck:

Being a girl I'm in the same boat. So I'd be interested if anyone knows of any deals too.
I did see this same snow blower being sold on amazon.com for $259 just the other day when I placed the order at T. But I see the price has shot up to $299 now.
It might be worth bookmarking on amazon and see if they will drop the price again before Christmas? The reviews were great on this snowblower on amazon.
noehlp 11-17-2008, 8:03 PM Sorry so many cancellations! :(
I'll keep my eyes open for snow throwers on sale.
nel626 11-17-2008, 8:08 PM I emailed them back and filed a complaint with the BBB.
Reason I did this is because a simple mis-print, would not of included all of the details that thier site included. It specifically said it was $15.99 withthe original price of $299.99 crossed off and under that it said 95% savings. It is not unusual for target to have items at 90% off. I have purchased christmas trees, fire pits, even electronics at 90% at my local target, so when I saw this I was not think it was a misprint.
Anyways, I thought it was worth a shot.
Maybe if more of us complained, the e-commerce consumer laws could be reviewed.
:yup:

I did the same for the above reasons stated and also after researching it seems that target.com has mis-priced items numerous times. I can understand the occasional mis-price but I read many many complaints. Maybe if they were held accountable once they would pay closer attention to detail. I don't expect anything to be done however!!
Illinoismom 11-17-2008, 10:27 PM People it is no different then a store putting something in a flyer and stating it was in error and posting that on a door. Until they charge you for on your credit card you are not in a legal contract with them
deelite 11-17-2008, 10:48 PM :D My order did a Houdini :D
Lol...but that is no surprise...:cheesy:
allshoppedout 11-18-2008, 12:15 PM Still hoping someone might find a deal on this or another snow thrower... please?
I am going to keep looking online...and keep checking back here..
loves30 11-18-2008, 12:40 PM my sister placed this order. she got home yesterday to find a letter . but i said well it happens further talking she said they did charge her cc. and in the letter said she would be refunded. . i know if i walk in a store and i see it and its coming up dif. the always give it to me for the price i saw.but they dont keep it up anymore. i think they should honor this up to the point they found the mistake. but hey it is what it is . i guess .
thewilfords 11-18-2008, 2:23 PM Loves30,
If they charged her credit card- they have to honor it. Even the Target Rep told me that. Tell her to call her AG's office! They must sell to her at this price. once they charged the card it was a legal binding contract! My AG's office told me this as well.
KBsDarling 11-18-2008, 7:41 PM o heck if they charge my card I will have the snowblower and a "i am sorry I suck" letter from whoever did the charging
hannahs_momma 11-20-2008, 4:29 PM I think everyone is blowing this way out of proportion. Alot of folks who are here through out the last few years have had this all happen. THreatening legal action does nothing. Mistakes happen. Yes they are pricing mistakes. The website has programs that yes do screw up and humans also make errors.
So lets all remember its not worth stressing over. Lets have fun and on with finding deals to be had!
allshoppedout 11-22-2008, 6:43 PM Just wanted to say that I ended up picking up the Toro POWER SHOVEL (here it is on Target's site...)
http://www.target.com/Toro-Power-Shovel/dp/B000VU222S/qid=1227397431/ref=br_1_2/184-1771719-1211059?ie=UTF8&node=284860011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1
which is much smaller for $99.00 for my folks.
I got it from Home Depot and bought it with GC so I at least get fuel perks and they said I have a FULL THIRTY DAYS to get money back if the price goes cheaper.
This only weighs 12 lbs and will probably be even better for my parent's to handle as they are both over 80 years old. They just need the walk safely clear and it isn't very much area.
ludy123 11-26-2008, 4:36 PM people with the car seat mixup got $25 gift cards, I hope we get one to.
deelite 11-26-2008, 4:56 PM people with the car seat mixup got $25 gift cards, I hope we get one to.
LOL...i doubt it. But there is always hope.....:crossfing
jayce04 11-28-2008, 9:52 PM I spoke with Target today....they (the car seat people) are the only ones getting the gift card. Not the snowthrower ones. Ive received a total of five emails from Target, all apologizing, but no compensation. Oh well...we tried. Overall, its been a good bargain year, I cannot complain.
I think the reason the car seat ones got the card is because they mistakenly sent a couple out at the low albeit wrong price and therefore set precedent.
No snowthrowers were sent out at the wrong price, they caught that one in time.
