ALL discussion about CVS (http://www.cvs.com)deals, coupons, and promotions for the month will take place in this thread. Please do not start a new thread, as they will promptly be CLOSED and you will be directed to post in the new thread.
Welcome to the joys of CVS Shopping! Here are some quick details to help you out:
What is the CVS Extra Care Program?
The CVS Extra Care program is CVS’s shopping card. You can sign up for a card in store or online at https://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/registerextracare?LOGINMSG=XTRACAREMSG
With this card, you will have access to their weekly and monthly sale prices. If you do not present your card, you will not be given these sale prices or qualify for the Extra Care Bucks rewards.
The greatest benefit of this program is the Extra Care Bucks portion.
What is an Extra Care Bucks?
Every month, along with every week, CVS runs sales on particular items where if you buy that item, you will receive a coupon at the end of your receipt with Extra Care Bucks (aka ECBs) that you can use on your next purchase.
For example, let’s say Garnier Fructis shampoo is on sale for 2.99 with $2.00 in ECBs. This means you will have to pay the 2.99 upfront for the shampoo, but at the end of your receipt, you will receive a $2.00 ECB that you can use on a future purchase at CVS. It’s like you only paid $0.99 for a bottle of shampoo!
At the end of each quarter, CVS will also add up all your spending, and give you a rebate in ECBs based on your spending, which is 2% of the total amount. That’s EXTRA money just for buying items at CVS!
Can I use manufacturer’s coupons?
Certainly! Using the example above with the Garnier Fructis shampoo – there are regularly coupons for 1.00 off your purchase of one (1) bottle of their shampoo. The item will ring up at 2.99, then you can use your coupon for 1.00 off, so you wind up paying 1.99 for the item. You STILL get the $2.00 ECB reward – so it’s like getting it for free!
Wow! Can I do this over and over?
Unfortunately, there are limits to all the sales. Check the weekly ad and the monthly sales books for the limits. When we post the sales here, we will also list the limits.
Can I have more than one CVS card?
The answer in general is no. However, if you have access to another address/name/phone number, you may be able to get a second card.
What about prescriptions?
Whenever you fill a prescription, make sure the pharmacy scans your card! Each prescription is 0.50 in ECBs that will be paid out at the end of the quarter.
Can I use the ECBs I earn to pay for prescriptions?
Unfortunately, no. They can only be used on store purchases.
CVS and Coupons
CVS also has a great coupon program. When you sign up for your card, make sure to check that you want CVS to email you coupons and offers. This will put you on their mailing list for future coupons!
Most of the CVS coupons are for a certain amount of dollars off a minimum dollar purchase. For example, to start, CVS will email you a coupon to save $4.00 on a $20.00 purchase.
When entering your store, look for the CVS card scanning/price checking machine. Scan your card upon entry every time for additional coupons and incentives! Sometimes it's 3.00/10.00 of CVS products, or something FREE!
Stacking coupons
Please note, your store may have a different policy regarding the stacking of coupons. IN ADDITION CVS has not been issuing as many e-mail coupons as in the past. Most stacking has been done via CRT coupons, which are the coupons that are generated at the end of your CVS receipt, or from the card scanning machine (if your store has one.)
Always make sure you give the cashier your CVS card to scan before you get to the total and start handing over coupons to make sure you get any sale prices.
CVS will sometimes have coupons for $3 off a $15.00 purchase, or $2 off a $10.00. The theory regarding CVS purchases are:
Your PRETAX amount is 30.00. You have a coupon for $4 off $20.00, $3 off $15.00, or $2 off $10.00. Hand to the cashier the coupons in this order:
1. The $4 off $20.00 coupon
2. The $3 off $15.00
3. The $2 off 10.00
As long as your total is more than the amount on the coupon, you can keep using coupons.
NEXT, give them your manufacturer coupons.
FINALLY, give them your ECBs.
Hopefully by this point, your out of pocket (OOP) amount is a small number. It may not be at the start, but with constant shopping and deal searching, you’ll build up a good amount of ECBs to use on future purchases.
We have come across some stores that will not allow you to stack their money off coupons unless your total equals the amounts of the coupons. For example, if you want to use a $4 off $20 coupon along with a $3 off $15 coupon, some cashiers may say that your total must be $35.00 before you can use the coupon. This rule varies from store to store and from cashier to cashier. We cannot say that CVS will always stack, because the policies are always changing.
What do they do about B1G1 (buy one, get one free) coupons? I have 2 coupons for the B1G1 covergirl lip product. If I got 2 lip products and used the two coupons would I get both for free or do the B1G1 coupons ring stuff up for 1/2 price?
CVS rings up the first item at full price and the second item rings up free. So if you have a BOGO free coupon, you would get both items free.
PLEASE NOTE: YMMV (your mileage may vary.) Some stores may not process it, some cashiers may be confused, but in general, the above should happen.
How to use your ECBs
Please note that you cannot use your ECBs:
- on pharmacy co-pays
- on the purchase of gift cards
Also, ECBs are tied to YOUR card. You will not be able to use the ECBs that are earned by other people. You must also present your card in order to use your ECBs.
Please note that your ECBs do have an expiration date and to be mindful of it. If they do expire, you may be able to have customer service reactivate them. Please contact CVS customer service at 800-SHOP-CVS.
ECBs can only be used on the PRETAX amount of your purchase. If your pre-tax purchase is 3.99 and you only have a $4.00 ECB, you will not be able to use that ECB – you must use smaller denominations.
I bought something that comes with ECBs but it didn’t print out. What gives?!
Check to see if you had previously hit the limit on the offer. It will print on your receipt. Also make sure you bought the correct item or version of the product. If you had not hit the limit, please contact customer service at 800-SHOP-CVS and they will add it to your card to print the next time you are in store.
THE GROUND RULES:
1. Post your experiences shopping at CVS, the deal combos you have found, and the unmarked clearance/ECB deals you have found at your store. Also post your general location if you are comfortable.
2. Do not post links to non CVS authorized coupons. They will be edited out. Authentic CVS coupons come from cvs.com or are located at akamaitech.com.
3. Keep non CVS chatter to a minimum. This is first and foremost a deals discussion. Anything going too far off topic will be deleted.
If you have links to printable coupons for items on sale this week at CVS, also post those for others to share.
Play nice!

Happy November!
Halloween Candy should be 50% off 11/1!
In equally happy news, CVS has completed the purchase of Longs Drugs:
http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2008/10/29/ap5620702.html
Corp. said Wednesday it has completed its tender offer for California-based Longs Drugs Stores Corp., and expects to close the $2.7 billion buyout Thursday.
CVS said a total of 28.3 million shares, or 78.1 percent of available Longs stock, was tendered in favor of its bid. It said the sale will close Thursday, after which Longs shares will no longer be publicly traded.
But sadly, full integration of Longs Drugs to CVS will not be done until fourth quarter of 2009. I hope my local stores are done QUICKLY. Northern California and Nevada stores, rejoice!

I got the pro health toothpaste today and in this weeks ad it says limit one and in that cvs booklet thing for the month it says limit 2. I only got 1. I have 6 tubes of toothpaste already and my boyfriend told me to quit buying them. But I got them for free or nearly free so I decided to stop buying toothpaste unless its free and pass up on the nearly free ones. I also did the pampers deal. Totally great for me as I have 2 in diapers. Too bad thats a 1 limit!!
ETA: I also did the coke deal. But I forgot about cashing in the coke points for those darn coupons!!! still a good deal though without the coupons. and the only time I buy 12 packs is when it is 4/$10 or under.

It was in my sister in law's stuff from the hospital when she had my nephew and sent it to me since she uses soy formula. However, there were also MIR in yesterday's inserts for $10, I believe....I can mail you a couple of those if you need them...just PM me.
(I also have seen that some people posted the $20 MIR form on craigslist and ebay). HTH :)

I went this morning and it was 50% off so I bought some m&m's. While I was checking out I thought the cashier didn't give me my change. I made 2 transactions and was pretty sure she didn't give me my change on the 1st one. So I left my name and number and about 20 minutes later I get a call and sure enough she shorted me my change! So I didn't make it back there til about 3:30. When I went in all halloween and candy was 75% off! I got teddy grahams for .75 and a pack of assorted kit kats and resses and hersheys stuff for $1.25. Guess it was a good thing she shorted me my change and I had to go back. lol.

My formula deal worked even better today than I thought it would....
2 x 22.99 + $3.49 (Crest Toothpaste) + $0.49 Glow Stick (Kept DS busy) + Tax = $51
- $10 / $50 CVS Q
- $0.75 Crest MFR Q
- 2 x $2 Enfamil MFR Q
- 2 x $5 Enfamil Checks
= $26.25 OOP
- $20 MIR
- $3.49 ECB (for toothpaste)
= $2.76 :) :) :) (doing a happy dance)!!!!

Huggies were on sale this week and I had gotten $2 CVS coupons on my reciepts so about $6.50 per pack....
Black and Green (I think that is what it is called) organic chocolate bars are $2.50 and I had gotten a $3 CVS Q on my receipt....MM.
Made out on the candy deal this week...I have $2.50/2 MFR Q for the Bliss chocolates and B1G1 Free Hershey's singles Q so in the end, I paid $11.50 and got back $10 ECB. (This will be great for Christmas baking :D)
Also if you need vitamins, the nature's bounty if B1G1 Free and there were $1 MFR Q in last weeks inserts. I paid $4 for 2 bottles of 250 ct. folic acid....
Loreal Revitalift was a MM again this week but if your store is like mine, they haven't gotten any in since the LAST deal a couple months ago so I had to get a raincheck :(
Finally, our instore scanner has been printing out $2 off $10 of CVS products and $1/2 CVS Kleenex. Add this into the B2G1 CVS products and it makes a nice deal!

Halloween just went 75% off today. Sign was 50% and the new manager was very "puffy" when I asked if they were going to mark the Halloween down more. I guess she got around to it shortly thereafter, as everything was adjusted by the time my Rx was finished. Scored the 24ct bag of pretzel snacks, ghost and pumpkin shaped slinky, bags of pumpkin erasers, bags of halloween rings and a Peanuts "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" village w/moving characters along with boxes of .69 fruit roll ups (exp 7/09).
Also got 2 packs of Stayfree @ 3.99ea -2MQ = 5.98 then got $4 ECBs; Garnier @ 2.99 - 1MQ = 1.99 then got $2 ECBs.
Not a bad trip. Had a $5 off $25 that I used too. Also, got a card in the mail for 25% off entire purchase for either 11/15 or 11/16 (one time use) . . . so watch your mail!:)

Try this with the Garnier: It worked for me once, let's see if it works again.
Go in and buy the Garnier Shampoo (and use a 1.00 coupon!).
Make a second purchase, and buy the Garnier Conditioner (use your Coupon and ECBs from previous purchase.)
Once I did this, when it was a "limit 1" and a second set of 2.00 ECB for Garnier spit out. The only reason I could think of was that I bought shampoo the first time, and conditioner the second. I also only did this because I actually needed shampoo and conditioner.
YMMV.

I don't really need the shampoo or else I might try it. I still have 2 bottles of garnier from when walgreens did a sale and still have 1 bottle of pantene. I am making these gift baskets for xmas for my sisters. So far I have floss, toothpaste, shampoo (garnier), body wash, razors, toothbrush, and pantiliners. As things go on sale and I can get them free or for pennies I buy them and add it to their baskets.

Yeah, most places will deny you using two email coupons. I used to get a lot of $5 off $25 crts and never had trouble combining those with an email coupon but it's been a long time since that's happened so I'm not sure how that would go over.
For those that aren't getting coupons make sure your card is registered on the cvs website. You can also google "cvs coupons emailed 11/10" if you want to see what's out there.

Just wondering if some of you serious shoppers have any good scenerios lined up.

Yes that is correct. It is tracked on your card so if you try to buy 3 of an item with the same card you will only get ecb's or whatever for 2 of the items if the limit is 2.
Sometimes in the ads it will say limit 2 or something like that and sometimes it is actually more than that like limit 3. Usually someone will post here if they find out that something has a limit of 3 instead of the limit 2 that it says.

Yeah I saw this. Thought it was very tempting. It looks like it's only coke, diet coke and coke zero in the 12 packs. We'd only drink regular coke. Not sure what I'd do with 6 12packs! If you do the my coke rewards you can get $1 off 12 pack coupons. I only have enough points for about 3 coupons though. Is the regular coke part of the 2 liter bottle thing too? If it is I just might do that. Put a bow on the coca cola and there is an xmas present for the coca cola drinker! lol.

No meijer's around here. I just got back from cvs though. I did the duracell deal twice and will go back later in the week and do it again. I got C'd, D's, AA's and AAA's. My boyfriend said you didn't get any 9 volts, thats the ones we need. He knew I was going to get batteris, he should have told me. What do we need 9 volts for anyways?! Next time we get out I am going back to get some 9 volts. lol.

I went at 11 am to do the duracell deal and they were already out of alot of them. How strict are they about the $20 rule? If I got two of the $9.99 = $19.98 packs, is that good enough or does it have to be exactly 20?

Oh! Thank you thank you!! I might go back and get 6 12 packs and print those coupons so we can get wall-e for $9.99.
Oh, and to everyone about the duracell deal with the $9.99 price, When I was at cvs today the duracell batteries had a price tag of $9.99 on them, but underneath that tag was one that said like $12.49 buy $20 get $15ecbs. It had the sale date of 11/16-11/22. So, I went to check out and of course they rang up as $9.99. I get a manager and showed her the tags and was like whats going on? She said thats stupid just 2 cents. She rung a pack of the $5.49 ones up and "returned" them on my card. My balance for the ecb's went up by $5 so I got to buy 4 packs at $9.99 price and get 2 $15 ecbs. I did 2 transactions.

I did figure out that it's $20 of Coke products listed on that page. 2 liter bottles, 12 packs, vitamin water and smart water. I'm going to get the 10 - 2liter bottles then 3 -12 packs to make it $20. No Coke rewards to use though.

They are CVS coupons for $5 off 2 packs of duracells. These can be used in conjunction with manufacturer coupons which makes this deal really sweet! We had hunted for them as well. DH finally found some on Saturday. :D
My Duracell story: Here, the batteries are on sale for $5.99 for the 8-packs (AA and AAA) and 2-packs of 9V and 4-packs of Cs. I bought 11 packs for $65.89 (no, they would not give me 10 for $59.99 :) -- and I already had a $10 off $50 ECB, plus I had three Duracell coupons for $1 off, so the grand total, with tax, was $55 -- and I got the $45 in ECB. Ten bucks for 11 packs of batteries is beyond awesome!
Tomorrow I will go back for the Cokes/Wall-E deal (movie isn't out until Tuesday) and pay NOTHING!!

I can never find any coupons at CVS around here! I usually get them from somebody on my coupon train in NJ. She always tells me what to look out for but I have never found any here.
I had to go to Chicago yesterday all day so I never made it to CVS. I went to 3 today (on my way home) and all 3 were wiped out of the Glade Glass Scents (& other Glade products) and wiped out of the AA batteries and the rest of them were pretty picked through. Finally a couple good deals at CVS and I couldn't get any.

Yippee! I finally got a good money maker. They had the tearpads by me NOT on the regular duracell wall. They were over on a different end cap. Anyways got 4 packs @ $5.99 ea for a subtotal of $23.96 - $0.75 mfq-$10 (2 tearpad q's)= $13.21 and $15 EBC's back! Oh yeah and they also had my last pro health so I made the 0.75 on the mfq from a couple weeks ago. YEAH ME!!!! Only I can't be too proud of myself, I forgot to buy my milk and bring my colgate q's. Oh well take what I can get I suppose!

I live pretty close to the one on Harrison & Alpine and I used to be in there about every other day, but they don't have so many great deals lately so I'm only there maybe once a week. get them to ring each one individually. What they do is ring one up and hit quantity 3 so they are coming up as 3 for $3.33. If they ring them up one by one then the last one will come up as $3.34.

I see others had the Coke problem. I was aggravated at how long it took to work this out... It said 3/$10 but they did not ring up that way. I was glad I asked before I left the register if the coupon printed because he said "nope, you're .02 short" which started it alll....he was young and new...the other cashier couldn't have cared less. She said "well, maybe they just "said" 3/$10" and I said well you can't just SAY one price and charge another in advertising!! They couldn't figure it out, so I finally said FINE I'll grab a 2L...and did...but it turned out to be 7UP- not a coke product...they barely had any coke product anyway (as usual). So he refunded that, then went in the back to look for Coke (I said bring me anything I don't care) At least he was trying, he rang them up Q6, then individually, then Q3 but never did one ring up at 3.34 ? So on the one hand, I did get charged less than advertised price....buuuuutttt it was a lot of frickin trouble for this coupon. It always seems like SUCH a chore to get deals like this anymore (anywhere, not just CVS). I am hoping that maybe WallE will go on sale in the next 30 days as the ad said the coupon is good for 30 days...hmmm I didn't check the actual coupon....better go do that....

Sorry it was such a pain for you! If they rang them up individually one of them should have rang $3.34. Thats how it has worked for me on previous things. I have yet to do the coke deal, but I have been hearing that people are having problems because the cashier hits the quantity button and the solution is to have them ring each one up individually. Guess I will see tomorrow. The manager at my cvs is always nice and she is the one that gave me the duracell deal when I bought 2 of the $9.99 packs. Maybe if mine all ring up $3.33 she will be nice and help me out! :D

My kids go to school over by there so I will sometimes go to the ones out there if I drive them. I just went to the one on State & Alpine and they had TONS of batteries left, they have them in 3 different places around the store. But I couldn't find that $5 off coupon anywhere in there! And I looked!
The one by my house used to have stuff in stock all week long. If there was a limit of 5 of something I could go in there every day of the week and would be able to get at least 3-4 of them during the week and then they'd re-stock by the end of the week. Now I can't even find 1 of something unless I go on a Sunday. I think a lot of people have several cards and do multiple transactions and buy up everything.

I had trouble doing the Wall-e deal too. I had a dollar towards it from a smartwater I bought doing the battery deals on Sunday but it didn't combine with the $19.00 of coke I bought today for the coupon. Luckily I still had the receipt for the smartwater with me but the manager didn't even ask for it. She just price adjusted the movie. It was definitley worth it. I'd done quite a few money makers lately so it didn't cost me anything. My bucks are a little lighter but BF should help that out.
The sodas all rang up $3.33 but the coupon printed anyway.
But beforehand, I went and bought Crest toothpaste for $3.39 (limit 2), used two $1-off coupons, so they were $2.39 apiece. I got $6.78 back in ECB -- and used that to buy Wall-E -- so for all the sodas and the DVD, my total was $24 and change!

I went in to pick up the DVD today and it was not ringing up at $9.99. I had purchased sodas on Monday and then went in on Thurs and purchased another $10.66. It did not show a total at the bottom of the receipt. So today, they were trying to tell me that I had to purchase everything at one time. I said that the ad did not state that. Then they said it was basically two deals. One deal applied on Mon and Tues and then one for the rest of the week. I still argued with that. So now I have to bring in my receipts since I didn't have them with me and I should be getting the sale price on the DVD.

The ECB's for the right guard didn't print out for me today:mad:. I have to go and call the help line to see what's going on. Thats $40 worth of deodorant. I grabbed them anyway just in case the wouldn't have them later today. We also have this new young manager that was ticking me off. He tried to say "You can't use ECB's to pay for things you will get so many ECB's back on." I almost blew my top with my response. But I politely said "I don't thinkl that is correct." My favorite cashier (we share sale info and coupons) came and showed him what was wrong. MEGA w00t!!! Today I went to CVS armed with a $45 ECB thanks to the battery offer two weeks ago, plus another $13.50 in assorted ECB. Here's what I bought:
3 Gatorade G2 @ $1.49 ECB: $1.49 each
4 Monster energy drinks @ 2 for $30 ECB: $2
1 aussie Mousse @ $2.99 ECB: $2.99
1 Bic Soleil razor @ $5.99 ECB: $5.99
1 Playtex tampons @ $3.99, used $1 coupon, ECB: $3.99
1 J&J lotion @ $5.69, used $1 coupon, ECB: $5.69
1 Schick Quattro razor @ $7.99, used $4 coupon, ECB: $6
2 Colgate toothpastes @ $2.99 ea, ECB: $2.99 ea
1 5-hour energy drink @ $3.99 ECB: $3.99
1 Cristophe shampoo clearanced @ $2
1 Cristophe deep hair mask clearanced @ $2.50
1 Ellin Lavar leave-in conditioning mist clearanced @ $2
1 Mr. Bubble kids' bubble bath @ $2.99, ECB: $1
2 Sure deodorants @ $2.99 apiece, used $2 coupon on each
2 Kotex Lightdays liners @ $4.19 apiece, used $1 coupon on each, ECB: $1 each
Total before tax: $70.94
After coupons and $58.50 in ECB that I walked in with, I paid $1.44
OMG, I got chills.
And then, AND THEN!!! The new ECBs printed out and they totaled: $46.11
So then I bought the three Amex gift cards for $75 that comes with the $15 gas card rebate and the $10 in ECB.
And THEN I bought the Kodak EasyShare camera on sale for $89.99. I used $56.11 in ECB for OOP on the camera of $36.52.

went to my cvs and got the free items after ecbs. Just wanted to say, that it went very smoothly. No pulling hair, spitting etc. :) And the employees were nice and patient. She even pointed out 2 products that were not free after ecb's. She held up the line and went back with me to where the items were and picked them out for me to make sure I got the right ones. Praise the Lord. If that isnt divine intervention, I don't know what is.:yup:

I got all the free items on the back page, and 2 of the kitchen items $19.99 ( $10.00 EB) and it still does not say limiy reached for these. I asked and she told me you can buy one of each and get the $10.00 EB, anyway it did print out $20.00 in EB'S.
It used all EB'S to pay for my items and with all the good coupons I had I made $21.00.
This was my best trip ever..now I have $87.00 in EB's that have to be used by Dec 27th. Looking for those after Christmas sales..LOL

Okay,I'm kinda new at the CVS game (being mostly a Wags girl) but when I went there on Thanksgiving an employee lead me to a little machine that when you scan your card,it prints off extra coupons. Is this standard in most stores? I got a couple of good coupons out of that machine.
One of the reasons I like WG so much is that there is one basically on every corner, and I can only think of two CVS on my side of town.
I'm turning into a CVS kinda girl though :)

They have just started putting the scanners in the CVS. Scan your card everytime you go in and it will spit out coupons. I have tried WAGS and Rite Aid but it seems to be more complicated than CVS. With CVS, you get the extra bucks right away and seems easier to use than RR from WAGS.

CVS is definitely better than wags or rite aid. I love CVS. The one I go to most of the time has a scanner and I scan it every time I go in, but the other one I go to doesn't have a scanner.
I went to CVS on thanksgiving. It was fairly crowded. I got there a little before 8. I had to wait in the checkout line for over 30 minutes!!! There was this woman doing multiple transactions and using coupons and trying to roll the ecb's and everything else. Well, some of her coupons didn't work and she was having problems with ecb's. She was really rude to the cashier and made her call customer service at least 3 times while I was in line. Before I even got in line she was the one holding it up, it just kept getting longer so I decided to get in line. She wasn't very organized and people around me in line were complaining. I only did 2 transactions and it didn't even take me 1 minute to do them both. I was very organized and had my orders seperated and coupons out and I had a list of how I was going to do everything. I spent about $12 oop total.

I got in on some of those deals on thanksgiving, the cashier helped me as best as she could-there were no other people around. I really need to get how to figure out these deals, with the least out of pocket. I will get it.....someday, I hope!

I got up and was at CVS on Thanksgiving right when they opened. Was he first one in, and only 1 lady came in why we was there to buy a paper. I did 2 orders and paid under $7 out of pocket and got $42ecb. Got everything that I wanted which was a big surprise since they are usually out of everything.
