Welcome to the joys of CVS Shopping! Here are some quick details to help you out:

What is the CVS Extra Care Program?
The CVS Extra Care program is CVS’s shopping card. You can sign up for a card in store or online at https://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/registerextracare?LOGINMSG=XTRACAREMSG
With this card, you will have access to their weekly and monthly sale prices. If you do not present your card, you will not be given these sale prices.

The greatest benefit of this program is the Extra Care Bucks portion.

What is an Extra Care Bucks?
Every month, along with every week, CVS runs sales on particular items where if you buy that item, you will receive a coupon at the end of your receipt with Extra Care Bucks (aka ECBs) that you can use on your next purchase.

For example, let’s say Garnier Fructis shampoo is on sale for 2.99 with $2.00 in ECBs. This means you will have to pay the 2.99 upfront for the shampoo, but at the end of your receipt, you will receive a $2.00 ECB that you can use on a future purchase at CVS. It’s like you only paid $0.99 for a bottle of shampoo!

At the end of each quarter, CVS will also add up all your spending, and give you a rebate in ECBs based on your spending, which is 2% of the total amount. That’s EXTRA money just for buying items at CVS!

Can I use manufacturer’s coupons?
Certainly! Using the example above with the Garnier Fructis shampoo – there are regularly coupons for 1.00 off your purchase of one (1) bottle of their shampoo. The item will ring up at 2.99, then you can use your coupon for 1.00 off, so you wind up paying 1.99 for the item. You STILL get the $2.00 ECB reward – so it’s like getting it for free!

Wow! Can I do this over and over?
Unfortunately, there are limits to all the sales. Check the weekly ad and the monthly sales books for the limits. When we post the sales here, we will also list the limits.

Can I have more than one CVS card?
The answer in general is no. However, if you have access to another address/name/phone number, you may be able to get a second card.

What about prescriptions?
Whenever you fill a prescription, make sure the pharmacy scans your card! Each prescription is 0.50 in ECBs that will be paid out at the end of the quarter.

Can I use the ECBs I earn to pay for prescriptions?
Unfortunately, no. They can only be used on store purchases.

CVS and Coupons
CVS also has a great coupon program. When you sign up for your card, make sure to check that you want CVS to email you coupons and offers. This will put you on their mailing list for future coupons!

Most of the CVS coupons are for a certain amount of dollars off a minimum dollar purchase. For example, to start, CVS will email you a coupon to save $4.00 on a $20.00 purchase.

Stacking coupons
Please note, your store may have a different policy regarding the stacking of coupons.

Always make sure you give the cashier your CVS card to scan before you get to the total and start handing over coupons to make sure you get any sale prices.

CVS will sometimes have coupons for $3 off a $15.00 purchase, or $2 off a $10.00. The theory regarding CVS purchases are:
Your PRETAX amount is 30.00. You have a coupon for $4 off $20.00, $3 off $15.00, or $2 off $10.00. Hand to the cashier the coupons in this order:
1. The $4 off $20.00 coupon
2. The $3 off $15.00
3. The $2 off 10.00
As long as your total is more than the amount on the coupon, you can keep using coupons.

NEXT, give them your manufacturer coupons.

FINALLY, give them your ECBs.

Hopefully by this point, your out of pocket (OOP) amount is a small number. It may not be at the start, but with constant shopping and deal searching, you’ll build up a good amount of ECBs to use on future purchases.

We have come across some stores that will not allow you to stack their money off coupons unless your total equals the amounts of the coupons. For example, if you want to use a $4 off $20 coupon along with a $3 off $15 coupon, some cashiers may say that your total must be $35.00 before you can use the coupon. This rule varies from store to store and from cashier to cashier. We cannot say that CVS will always stack, because the policies are always changing.

How to use your ECBs
Please note that you cannot use your ECBs:
- on pharmacy co-pays
- on the purchase of gift cards
Also, ECBs are tied to YOUR card. You will not be able to use the ECBs that are earned by other people. You must also present your card in order to use your ECBs.

Please note that your ECBs do have an expiration date and to be mindful of it. If they do expire, you may be able to have customer service reactivate them. Please contact CVS customer service at 800-SHOP-CVS.

ECBs can only be used on the PRETAX amount of your purchase. If your pre-tax purchase is 3.99 and you only have a $4.00 ECB, you will not be able to use that ECB – you must use smaller denominations.

I bought something that comes with ECBs but it didn’t print out. What gives?!
Check to see if you had previously hit the limit on the offer. It will print on your receipt. Also make sure you bought the correct item or version of the product. If you had not hit the limit, please contact customer service at 800-SHOP-CVS and they will add it to your card to print the next time you are in store.

THE GROUND RULES:
1. Post your experiences shopping at CVS, the deal combos you have found, and the unmarked clearance/ECB deals you have found at your store. Also post your general location if you are comfortable.
2. Do not post links to non CVS authorized coupons. They will be edited out. Authentic CVS coupons come from cvs.com or are located at akamaitech.com.
3. Keep non CVS chatter to a minimum. This is first and foremost a deals discussion. Anything going too far off topic will be deleted.

I bought the tylenol and a few other items and used my a $3/10 CVS brand (kiosk) coupon, the $5/30 I got in email today plus my rewards coupon and came back out with $21.95 in ECB's.

Where did the Shick Quattro ECB's come from? I don't see them in this weeks ad. I did find the rebate form that is good until April 7-but don't want to pick up the razor if this is a local deal and not at my Columbus OH CVS. Thank-you

It isn't an EBC deal. The $5.50 I got was from my spring spending. A few weeks ago in the Sunday paper there were coupons for a "Try me Free" rebate form. I got them today, so I could pay for them with my EBCs. Sorry for any confusion.

I maxed out the CVS Pain relief
got one softsoap
and 3 of the Jergens Healthy GLow lotion,
Used 28 ECB's left .18 OOP and got 30 back!!!

I got to use an expired 5 off 15 and expired 3 off 15 beauty purchase plus Q's for Jergens 3 of them and a CRT for Jergens too. I already have enough Jergens to get me a little tan through summer and I dont like the smell of the body wash so It went straight to my box for the womens shelter. My only bad mistake is that I got all the Pain meds at once and now I have a $20 ECB to spend at once.

I finally found the EOB toe seperator today. Unfortunately there was only 2. They are easy to miss. Also, there were a bunch that would not work because they had a different product number. From what I have heard, the ones with the product number of the one I got is giving ECB's. Take note of all of the sets of numbers on this. Here are some pictures that I took for reference:

Anyone else get the Sambucol rebate which was the CVS money maker a few months back. I got one yesterday and instead of a check it was a money order??? I didn't even know they would do that, strange huh? At first I wondered if it was legit, but it says US Postal Service. Do I have to take that to the post office to cash or will the bank do that?

I got 4 of the cvs pain reliever.
Not sure if this was posted here or somewhere else but I found tons of the eob gift bags for $1.49. Not quite as good as the 99 cents toe separators but the bags come with tissue paper. They have red, green, blue, yellow and lavender. They are small bags and are in the little slots on the side of the eob display case.

I started to get the Heinz vinegar - its 1.99 and you get $1 ecb. How much does vinegar cost anyway? I guess thats a good deal but do I really need 5 of them??

Ok. So I went today and looked for the softsoap spa and there was none so the lady substituted regular softsoap. Now when she rang the 3 up she rang them up as free items instead of the $4.99 price. So she then sees my coupons and said the register will not take them since they were rung up as free. She said it is cheaper for you this way. I also was getting one of the 3 drawer sterilite containers, but mine was only 50%. I needed one and figured it was still a ok deal. My total was $13+ with tax. I paid with a $10 ecb I got for taking a CVS survey and she kept questioning me about what survey and was it online or a phone survey and where did I sign up to take it, etc, etc. I told her I signed up online and CVS emailed it to me. So I get in the car and look at my receipt and notice that it didn`t show up on my receipt that I had purchased any softsoap for my ecb deals. Has anyone else had this happen?

that's because you didn't purchase the actual softsoap item. when/if they have the softsoap spa in stock, and you actually purchase it using the softsoap spa SKU, then it will be noted on your receipt.

I scanned my card going in the other day and got a coupon for free Bliss trial size. Unfortunately no one in the store had any idea what the thingie was!!!! I asked 4 people. Went to another CVS and they didnt know either. So I was walking down an isle and Lo and Behold I spot a display of Bliss chocolate samples!!!!! BINGO!!!!! found it. couldnt believe it was so much trouble for a .50 piece of chocolate.

Oh and the dollar days stuff and the storage stuff were 75% off at 1 CVS and only 25 % at the other. you would think they would all do it the same.

I was actually able to get my limit on the softsoap as well as the asprin. I couldn't find any of the toe seperators, but I was happy enough. I have 1 small CVS by me, they are always out of stock and hardly ever get the product back. That is unless you get there first thing Sunday morning. There is a small group of us who arrive right when the store opens to get our deals.
Did I mention they also never have the wonderful clearence deals. I need ot move to a bigger city!!!!!

Went today on my lunch and bought all the gift bags(8) they had for the EOB deal and threw in some make-up sponges that were 1.99 to get the 9th item and I found a cute oversized black tote on clearance for 3.50...had $16 in ECB so I paid $2.80 out of pocket and $17 ECB printed out and I was able to get a raincheck for the softsoap spa (said they'd give me a gc for the ECB? b/c next time they wont print). I have a few coupons 1.50/1 of the ss spa can I use them when I go back? That would mean essentually they are paying me to take them? :confused:

Oh yeah I forgot to add....I stopped by another CVS on my way home from work to see what they had and I saw more gift bags and what I thought were the right toe separators (I was psyched) so I check out with 3 gift bags and 3 toe separators and then nothing printed! So the cashier had the manager come over and he said "sorry nothing I can do...call the number on the back of your card" and he walks away. Ugh. I may have purchased the wrong toe things but the bags should have gone through since they went through at the other store right? And I didn't exceed the maximum amount so what should I do? I did attempt to call cs but after 20 minutes of waiting I had enough and gave up. But should I call them back? Or maybe return the stuff at the store they did print on and then re-buy them? I am new to all this and haven't had them not print before....:g_think:

Bells and Babies,

Do you do all of these transactions at one time or is this done over a couple of days. Just wondering. I feel bad for people behind me when I do 2 or 3 splits. Can't imagine doing that many. You must be very organized.

Well, I make sure that I have my list ready and I stick to it when I go in. I have all of my coupons for each transaction already paper clipped togeather and ready. I normally break it up into several "orders" and I do it between about 3-4 stores. I dont like the long lines behind me either but my DS1 is very entertaining and normally gets the line laughing by the time I leave :) I always wait until there is no line or I let the person behind me go ahead if I know that I will be a while.

This week is the largest order week for me so far. So we will see how my organization works for me!

I think "sticking to the list" is the best advice. Today I got distracted into buying items not on my list...and of course my OOP was much higher than I wanted. The other problem is that I have become "obsessed" with not paying more than 1.xx OOp and "rolling" the ECB's. I think this is like a gambling addiction......AND I CAN"T STOP :gdnum1:

It is very very hard to do. It takes self control which I have started to learn. I completely forgot that I was wanting to buy some more of those storage bins so looks like I will be using some of my left over ecbs. :)

Hello fellow bargain hunters! I've been lurking for the past few months as I've only been playing the CVS game since January-February. Now I'm addicted.

Thought I'd share my latest trip with you. I'm incredibly impressed by the deals people on the forums get! And while I'd love to get my OOP down really low, I've been getting a lot of $10 off a $50 purchase coupons at CVS and that's been pushing up my totals, but I think I'm still getting some pretty decent deals.

Also, since the CVS stores in my crowded area of New Jersey tend to get really picked over, I'm getting tired of visiting multiple stores and not being able to find an item or two that messes with my budget. I don't know, sometimes paying a couple bucks extra doesn't seem so bad when faced with what you pay in gas money to hit the next CVS down the road.

Anyways, last week I had my lowest OOP yet -- my total was $53.xx and when I was all done my OOP was $1.32. My hands were almost shaking when I paid the cashier -- I felt like I was getting away with something! LOL

2 $5.99 Swiffer Refill = $11.98
1 Swiffer Kit = $8.99
1 Dove Cream Oil Lotion = $5.99

Even though I bought all body washes the cashier pushed the $1.50 facial coupon through. It came from last month's Real Simple magazine and I have another one and I may try to see if they'll allow the facial coupon for body wash again. I have $51.xx toward the Aveeno deals and I may just keep going for it. I almost exclusively use the Aveeno lotions/body washes and the $10 off $25 is pretty darn good, especially if you have $1 or $1.50 coupons for each item.

I'd love to try the Spa SoftSoap, though. My mom uses their regular body wash and I'd like to give it to her for teaching me to hunt for bargains!

Oh, and the Linden, Rahway and Roselle and 2 Elizabeth CVS's were all out of the SoftSoap SPA. I've checked all of them since Sunday and no go. Sigh. If anyone in NJ sees any of the SoftSoap spas in the Union County area please let me know! That's the main factor in pushing up my OOP since April 1. My plan yesterday was to buy 2 of the Softsoaps and use two $1.50 off coupons but the 3 stores I visited were all out. So I decided to buy the necklace extenders/magnetic clasps because I've been meaning to get some extenders for about a year now.

Seemed like an OK deal, as a single extender costs $6 at Target, but still a fairly "frivolous" purchase as I only earned $1.50 ECB on it. LOL I'll know if it's worth it when I try it out on some of my too-short necklaces and the ones with hard-to-fasten clasps.

Tonight when I went to CVS they said they had to scan my ECBs first before my coupons. They said it was the new procedure or they won't be able to use my ECBs. She actually had to cancel my order and do it over because I figured my total wrong and I needed to use a bigger ECB. I guess if this is the new way I'll have to bring a calculator for the last minute changes in my order.

Went to CVS not 30 minutes ago, and had no problems. May be specific to your store.

Same for me... no problems. However, I am wondering if they mean that you have to give the cashier your ECB's and MFR coupons before you can use any store coupons (like the $4 off $20 one). Hopefully this isn't the case! And, if it is... hopefully it's STORE-SPECIFIC!

Pepsi, diet pepsi, & mountain dew 12 packs are on sale 4/$12, which means that they are, essentially, $3 for each 12-pack. You will get $3 back in Extracare bucks if you purchase all 4 12-packs. I hope this helps.

CvS was total bust for me today! No Airwick minis in sight, this lady had about 3 in her cart and when I got the shelf it was empty. With those $4.00 off Q-pons these will be hard to find. I went to two stores. One store had the Colgate 360's the other didn't. I want to get my deals in one shot so I can use my 4/20. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Going to check one more store today to see if they have what I want. I can see myself doing several trips this week.

Is anyone getting any coupons on their receipts anymore? I have gotten none over the last couple of weeks. And if I scan my card at the price checker the only coupon that comes out anymore is only valid online. Is it just me?

Nope not just you ... ME TOO ... I havent gotten a coupon except for the online purchase in a LONG TIME maybe a month actually !!! and our stores dont have the scanners w/ the printers to print out coupons without actually doing an order :( bummer

I am trying to figure out why I would not get any...do any of you think it has to do with the amounts of spending and money saved...maybe if there is a certain ratio (too much saving), you don't get any crt's for $$ off. I miss those darn CVS coupons

And hey - has anyone seen any coupons online for "new" prescriptions lately? I still have the link (http://www.riteaid.com/pharmacy/prescription_transfer.jsf)to Rite Aid's coupon - it has a new expiration date (6/30) and the amount has changed to $20 but CVS won't accept it for new prescriptions (which I seem to have a lot of lately).

I went yesterday to try and get the softsoap spa since I had ecb`s expiring on hubby`s card with no luck. I seen that essence of beauty prosucts wer get $5 ecb when you purchase 3. EWverything on the rack had a $4.99 sticker so I grabbed 3 of the candles. Get up there and they ring up $9.99 each. So she says let me see the sticker. So I looked and it was for something else but each of the spots on the display with candles had a $4.99 sticker so she said she would give them to me for $4.99 each and grabbed the stickers. Said I don`t think you will get the ecb and I said I didn`t care since I had to use my ecb regardless. So I paid $1.06 out of pocket and got $5ecb back. I also got a $.50 for the earning thing and a $10 of $50 in store coupon that won`t be used now since I only have $5.50 in ecb and no good deals. Now off to see what I can spend the rest of the ecb`s expiring on my card today.

I have two coupons for FREE up to $4.99 on any Adidas 3 item and I believe it's deodorant pictured on the coupons but I looked in that section as well as the fragrance/shaving sections and couldn't locate any Adidas 3 products. I would help getting my total up toward $50 so I can use the $10/$50 CVS coupon. ;)

Okay, well, I didn't find the Adidas 3 items, but I did find 4 bottles of the Softsoap Spa at the CVS in Woodbridge, NJ. Yeah! I've been looking since April 1.

Here's how I did today:

4 bottles Softsoap SPA $19.96 (used 4 $1.50 off coups)
2 boxes Lamisilk triple action serum $19.98 (BOBO coup)
2 Zooth 1 was 2.99 and the other 3.29 (BOGO coup)
1 box of Bikini Zone creme $7.79

My total was $56 and change and
I paid $12.06 OOP
using $10/$50 CVS coup
$15 ECB along with the manufacturer's coupons

Not too bad; I had hoped for a lower OOP with the
2 free up to $4.99 Adidas 3 item coupons I had.
Oh well; I'll try other CVS's.

Went to CVS today to take advantage of B1G1F M&M's. They were on sale for $3.29, and of course i got 2. When my receipt printed I received $3 in ECB's for purchasing 2 Mars Products. There was no mention of ECB's in the weekly ad. When I realized the savings I went back and bought 2 more bags. 4 bags of M&M's for 60 cents plus tax. Not bad!

I tried this & no ECB! Your the 1st person i Have read of to get this. Most of us just gave up!

I got the M & M's on Saturday they were in a cardboard display that said that if you bought ANY two 11oz or larger you got 3 ECBS.. They were also BOGO so I bought 2 got 2 free and no ECBS..

I called customer service yesterday. The lady told me that the stores were not supposed to be putting those out but the customer service people had gotten an email stating that because they had gotten SOO many calls from customers about this issue that they were honoring the ecbs.. They are giving me 6 ecbs within 48hours.

So if you bought them call and they should give you your ecbs :o) :cheesy:

I didn't plan very well and my CVS was out of a lot of things but I did well. I had a prescription coupon -- paid $15 co pay, received a $25 gift card.

I then broke up my other stuff into multiple orders so I could use the earned ECB's right away. I also had $14 that was expiring, $10 from the survey and $4 from my rewards.

My in store machine was out of paper so I didn't get any coupons from there but I was happy anway.

After all my shopping, I purchased $101.79 worth of products -- paid with my $25 gift card and cash $.79. :D

it isn't points. it's how much that you've spent that qualifies towards the ECB quarterly rewards. you have until 6/16 to accrue spending until they cut it off for that quarter, issue your quarterly ECB, and then start counting for the next quarter.

you can actually go to their website and get a free trial subscription. When my nephew was having a fundraiser for his school they sold magazines subscriptions and I got one from there. I think I paid $10 for a year and that mag has LOTS of good coupons. HTH

hmm looking at the dates, this is true. usually they release their coupons the thursday before it expires (or around there.) CVS wouldn't be dumb enough to release a beauty only coupon during their beauty sale.

plus it also says "for intended recipient." we had other coupons last month that had the actual individual's name on it, and couldn't be posted here.

um .. well I was the one who posted the link. I received the email from CVS yesterday. It is a valid coupon.

I went back and looked at my coupon. It says "private" beauty sale. Maybe it's just for certain members. I went back and deleted my post.

The email and coupon are authentic though .. I have better things to do than make up fake CVS coupons.

FYI, I got an email this morning with the $4 off of $20 beauty products coupon like AndreainNC did, but my Mom didn't. Like with all their coupons, I guess it's hit or miss. But the coupon does say it is valid only for intended recipient and it appears they're actually able to enforce that now.

Any good ideas about the best way to take advantage of it? It expires 5/3.

You can combine it with the Garnier deal, spend $15, get $5 ecb back - especially if you can find a Garnier coupon.

Or if you can find the Softsoap - that would make it a money maker.

The coupon is good for any beauty product, which includes haircair or shower stuff.

:( I just found ECB's that expired on 4/21/08. I called (800) SHOP CVS to have the expiration date adjusted. I was told that, although they used to do this for their Extra Care customers, they no longer will adjust expiration dates. I'm going to still try using these at my local CVS - maybe the manager will have more heart!

This morning I FINALLY found some of the 18oz. Softsoap Spa - I've been looking every couple of days at 4 different CVS' - I had almost given up and decided to check once again and found them on an endcap (Lewisville, TX - Corporate Rd. store).

So are the 18 oz. Softsoap Spas giving out RR too? I thought it was the 12 oz. size?

The larger ones were not marked in my store however when I purchased them they were on sale for $5.49 and a ECB printed for that amount. HTH :)

The Soft Soap deal is a definate money maker. There are coupons in this Sunday's insert for $1.00 off.
Today I purchaed 3 18 oz. and earned 16.47 in ecb's and used two 1.50 off coupons and one CRT coupon for $2 off $6 lotion, haircare or body products.
