Seeking parents with child between 3-13 y/o for a paid study- $60
KidZui is a fun, safe and engaging environment that rewards curiosity and builds independence. With over a half a million websites, videos and pictures and growing every day, kids have a whole world to explore. And because everything in KidZui has been reviewed by teachers and parents, kids are free to surf independently.
We ask that you download KidZui and keep an in-home journal for 14 days recording the times and observations of your child’s KidZui experience. If you complete all 14 in-home journals a check will be mailed to you March 24th for $60.
To partake in this survey,
You will be asked to:
1. Download KidZui March 10th, 2008.
2. Complete an in-home daily journal for 14 days.
3. Participate March 12th or March 13th in a follow up phone call. (10-15min)
Your child will be asked to:
1. Play a minimum of 15 minutes a day on KidZui
2. Express and discuss their thoughts and feelings about KidZui to you.
Would you like to be considered in this research project?
If yes, please reply to this posting and a brief (2minute) online survey will be sent to you to see if you qualify for the study. A recruiter will email you if your responses match with the needs of the company.
*2. What city do you live in?
LA
Dallas
Portland
Manhattan
Miami

How did you get in when you don't live in any of the cities posted? When I emailed her they said you had to be in one of the cities listed, did they change that?
caitlinn 3-11-2008, 10:39 AM I don't know, but I contacted her just as the others did who also got in. I was up front with them and they still accepted me...I'm not arguing!! :)

We live In SW Washington, so must have been close enough to the Portland,Or for them. They didn't make a big deal out of it..so not going to either.
caitlinn 3-13-2008, 2:47 PM I just did my phone interview with them...very quick and easy, and the lady was incredibly nice!!!

Me too! She specifically asked what city/state I told her, no issues, so must have def. been on the first come/first serve basis.
Glad we got in. My daughter is really liking the program so far!

Me three! I also told her where I lived and no problem....my son is enjoying it and I like being able to track how he surfs and where he's been.
dmm2702 3-14-2008, 3:44 PM I did my phone interview this morning she was really nice and my daughter really likes the site. She said that when it is up and running you can add up to eight different children which will be nice. I can set one up for my DS who is 4 besides his sister and when DD1 gets a little older set hers up as well :)
theboyzmom 3-14-2008, 5:40 PM Wow...I tried to get in on this when it was first posted and I got an email saying if I wasn't in one of the cities listed, they couldn't accept me :(
Good for those of you who were able!
dmm2702 3-14-2008, 8:34 PM Hey for anyone that got in on the study did you guys find out if the kids can still use the site or do they have to wait until they open it up to everyone? I meant to ask and forgot when I spoke with her on the phone this morning.

I'm thinking we should still be able to use it. From my experience unless they've put it into the license agreement as to an exact end date(license expires date) we will still be able to use it. :)

The study isn't over because we got the phone call,it goes until the 21st, and you should be doing your daily journal...You are testing right? I'm confused?
dmm2702 3-15-2008, 1:54 PM Yes she is still using the site I didn't know if they could use it once the study was over or if they would have to re-register once it was made available to everyone else. I hope they don't lose the points that they have already. Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

I'm thinking that the site might be a paid site? Under the terms there is mention of payment..
Wonder if we "beta testers" can stay on for free..hmmm. Any thoughts?
challis3 3-15-2008, 8:13 PM Actually that was one of my questions for her during my interview. And unfortunately testers will have to pay for a subscription after a one month period.
lowmerc1 3-15-2008, 8:42 PM Ahh, that's really dumb! Oh well...:(
lowmerc1 3-18-2008, 5:24 PM I got the info on the pricing, and we(beta testers) can extend the offer to friends and family now...here it is. KidZui will be $4.95 a month and $49.95 at a 50% discount
caitlinn 3-20-2008, 7:22 PM I just got an email...my check will be mailed out on the 21st!
dmm2702 3-20-2008, 7:58 PM I just got an email...my check will be mailed out on the 21st!
I got the same email :)
lowmerc1 3-20-2008, 8:57 PM Me too! Daughter's check actually, since if they do the study it's their money.

Me too :) My DS and I are sharing the check.. Going shopping!
lowmerc1 3-22-2008, 3:15 AM I thought I already posted this...here's the pricing plan for us "betas" KidZui will be $4.95 a month and $49.95 a year at a 50% discount, friends and family also can get this price...it launched a couple days ago now....and as of Friday we are done being testers. I thought they would lose their points and have to start over...I spilled wine on the new laptop, so will have to get a new one and reinstall and see where we're at with the points..what do the points go torwards? I haven't been on the parent area to really see and DD wasn't sure either.
dmm2702 3-22-2008, 8:35 AM The points they get just change the level that they are on. Right now my DD has 569 points and is at level 3. I hope this helps. :)
caitlinn 3-22-2008, 10:31 AM I was told the points will, at some point, allow them to buy accessories for their Zui's...i.e. skateboards, laptops, heelys, etc. (all virtual of course). This was one of the main questions I had during my interview...she said it was one of the main questions all the boys had...go figure, boys are competitive!!! :)

I like that idea I didn't even think to ask when I spoke with them on the phone. My DD will be excited when they start that.
dmm2702 3-31-2008, 5:26 PM I received the $60.00 check in the mail today. :) DD will be excited when she gets home from school.
caitlinn 3-31-2008, 5:33 PM Got our check Saturday...yay!!!
lowmerc1 4-2-2008, 2:05 AM I cashed daughters check today and handed her back the $60.00, she said "dude, what's this for ?" I told her the internet study you did! Wow! She was so excited, nice to let her have some extra spending money, though she's a real saver...:D
dmm2702 4-18-2008, 3:22 PM Hey did anyone else get the email that they are giving the beta testers one free lifetime membership? DD will be excited when I tell her. :)
