Dh has had a Chase card for two months now and they just upped his credit limit by $500, since he is such a "valuable customer." Um, we didn't even make our first payment on time, because I was intending to online bill pay and couldn't get the system to work, so had to mail in a payment and it was a couple days late.

So we've had ONE good month with them, LOL, and suddenly he's this valued customer and deserves a $500 jump in credit. I find that hilarious...but whatever, LOL.

That's rather odd because he's only had it for 2 months and you made a late payment.

Oh well all the more power to you :)

if they charge late charge, you can request for 'one time reversal'-
just keep this in mind.

what i don't quite like chase is that you can not make the payment on the due date.. it will cost you some fee if you want to pay on the same day.

Correct. Most companies understand that we're all human and sometimes make mistakes. Usually they'll waive a fee as a courtesy.

My CitiBank Dividend Platinum Select (http://www.ncsreporting.com/LinkTrack/Redirect.asp?LinkID=CDP10724) will post payments the same day if they're made before 1PM Eastern and it's FREE :eyepoppin

That's why I used Citibank. I use Chase Perfectcard before dividend come with the 5% gas rebate. Now, I just need to make sure I make 9 purchases with the perfectcard just to avoid their $19 annual fee. Boy, do I sound cheap.

James, What card do you use? I can't quite understand your post.

I am using a Chase/BankOne Cash Rewards card. 1% back. I would use a different card if I could get more back.

I'm guessing he's referring to the Chase Perfect Card (http://www.ncsreporting.com/LinkTrack/Redirect.asp?LinkID=CPC10724) :g_thumpsu

What really irks me about Chase is you *have* to have a real check in order to pay online or over the phone. They don't process ACH payments. Our credit union doesn't give us checks (we'd have to have a large minimum balance or pay a bigger fee than we already do...I know, we need to switch banks but dh won't get his butt in gear to do it) so I was totally out of luck there. I had just assumed I'd do an online payment and I set up an account to do so 3 days or so before the due date...it would have cleared if I'd been able to do it. Didn't work. So I tried to do it over the phone and again...didn't work. I had to have an actual check. I even complained to the customer service guy about it and he basically told me too bad, and my payment would likely be late if I had to mail it in so I should expect to pay a $15 fee. Gee, thanks for all your help, Chase guy. I wouldn't have even gotten the stupid card if I'd known I'd have to go buy a money order to mail every payment in.

But it's ok. Now that I've been approved for, and have in my possession, that great Charles Schwab card that gives reward points, I don't envision myself using the Chase card ever.

I've got many CC's
The most that I used (in order):
1. Citibank dividend
2. Chase Perfectcard
3. Firstusa (now, it's the chase/bankone) - almost never used these days. excep when they double the points.
4. Blue American Express - solely for costco purchase. Have been thinking of switching to Costco Trueearnings Amex Card, but haven't decided yet. got a whopping 10,000 (it's actually very small) amex points that have been accumulated since 1998. lol.
5. others. never used.

The first card that come out with real 1% cash back is the firstusa (bought by bank one then chase). After that, the perfectcard give 3% on gas purchases on top of the 1%. Afterward, it's the citibank dividend which gives 5% cash back on supermarket on gas on top of the other 1%.. that's why you see the order above :) each card has its own rules, and that's something need to keep your eye on. I had consider not using the chase perfectcard, but alas, it need 9 purchases in a year to avoid the annual fee.
